Thanks for the beautiful video and your narrative of this exquisite ancient temple well. Hope you achieve your objective of creating a better awareness to preserve such valuable ancient structures and resources. Hope the local people and government take action to preserve and maintain the temple well. I am pained but not surprised when I see our ancient heritage and treasures neglected, destroyed, vandalised or looted because most of us, Indians have little respect, value or awareness of our great heritage. We all know Taj Mahal, Konarak Sun Temple, Ajanta caves, Mahabalipuram sculptures, Rajasthan forts, Halebed stone carvings, Sanchi stupas etc because they get much publicity and admired by westerners. We even spend thousands of crores to build new temples. But how much do we care for the even more beautiful temples and ancient buildings and structures scattered across India in their thousands, most of them in utter neglect and disrepair. Our forefathers must have built these structures with so much of love, passion and foresight. Many of these structures were built for a noble cause such a step well or temple pond for rain water harvesting, large temple mandaps to shelter people in times of natural disasters etc. And of course our forefathers didn't build these structures as plain, dull and uninteresting structures. They employed skillful artisans to create these structures aesthetically beautiful, last for long time while at the same time ensuring they serve the purpose for which they were built. But everything seems forgotten now. A vast majority of our community and heritage structures are in utter state of neglect and even suffer wanton destruction by the public and by the local, state and national governments. You can bring back anything but time and the dead. Once lost these are lost forever. In India we all talk of grandiose schemes like linking Ganga and Cauvery, building huge dams across Krishna or Godavari etc etc, but don't even value ancient structures such as this well and numerous lakes and ponds that conserved local rain water at a fraction of the cost of the grand projects. There are hundreds and thousands of such structures littered across the country. Hopefully we all recognise and develop a greater awareness of the timeless value of our heritage structures, many in our own backyard. It's not enough just to remember our parents, grandparents and forefathers. Valuing and protecting the treasures they left behind, whether it is arts, structures, culture, language or literature is the greatest tribute, respect and gratitude we can show to them. Many of these structures survived hundreds and even thousands of years, lovingly cared by our forefathers with foresight. But most may not survive just one generation - our generation. If we continue to show apathy and carelessness to our heritage then neither our forefathers will forgive us nor our future generations.
Sir, you have spoken out my mind and heart. Thanks a lot. I can see your pain. We all have a shared heritage. It must be preserved before it is lost for ever. My only aim is to raise awareness through these little efforts. Thanks again for the kind words.
Yes yours views and a deep study and a meditational thoughts got to be àctioned to take to protect our old age sights .because these heritages are built by some means and a little care can renew it into its original form .by the time human is busy in only the worldly affairs and forget our treasures of such places .Govts authorities are only sleeping to take something sensational then take it in news cast politically .it is all our protection of these place can prove to be a big attempt for saving our culture .let's request to the local people save and maintain it because it is ours belongings. 🙏 and thanks I got your views very appriciatable.
This Naga Kunda temple may be brought to the notice of Archaeological Survey of India which may get it cleaned and renovated... Of course, another possibility is bringing it to the notice of great personality - Jaggi Vasudev (Sadguru) who is showing immense concern and taking suitable action on preservation of Hindu temples.. Thanks 🙏
What an elaborate explanation, full of pain for the disturbing condition of architectural treasure.Hope our govt at the local level first and state and national level understands it.
Jayachandran ji, you have narrated my heartfelt pain. Hundred percent true. We just repair or restructure our treasure. Politicians donot have time for such things. People like you, me and others can pressurise the government to do the things. We, the Hindus, should start a campaign in this regard.
Oh my goddd!!! I fell in love with Karnataka. Such a beautiful place. It is soo sad that no one are caring about this monuments. Karnataka Government, please keep it clean and alive. Lot of historical monuments. I hope one day I can visit these places.
@Kavya Krishnakumar..India is an ancient land with many beautiful hidden heritage marvels. You may like to share it among your loved ones whose minds may also get ignited to visit these beautiful places.
Wow! India has probably the most intricate ancient sights in all the world. If they aren’t saved soon or at least cleaned & looked after the world and India May loose this Awesome history 🪶
We have already lost many such monuments and the Government must do something to save at least the remaining ones. The Concerned Departments should come out of red Tape practices and do everything to retain the original structure with the participation of public We have seen in Europe even a small historical place is glorified with as a tourist spot and most of the places will have libraries and museums giving all details. Attempts like this must be eye openers for our leaders to frame new policies
@Ravi Singh bhai there is no money in our temples coz thay are contolled by Govt unlike masjids and churches. Our temples need to be freed from the clutches of govt
Such a beautiful structure.. sad to know the condition. Never heard about it till I saw this Video. Western country people would have made it an important tourist attraction. Must have been at its best once upon a time ... it is our duty to preserve and maintain. This is definately a national property.
If I were a younger man, I would dedicate myself to do it nothing else.but to work on and restore this beautiful temple,,,,and be proud to do it. India should most certainly do all they can to preserve these sacred, beautiful places,,,,they are priceless jewels,,,,,,what a shame to ignore such treasures,,,,,
This is so beautiful and amazing structure. Awareness and belonging will only save this place. 🙏 To all the locals, please save your culture and belongings.
How the people living so close to this beautiful and historic monument that is their ancestors gift to their culture and future people to honor and protect treating this priceless temple with neglect and disrespectful uncivilized care ? This must be brought to their attention not with hate and anger but with sadness and truth of why do you not care or respect the world you are responsible for ? You live there and cannot see its neglect and cry to be saved ? Look in the mirror and ask who's job is it to do something ? It's your job and everyone that lives in that neighborhoods job. Won't you please take the job ?
@Fred Johnson.. What you say is very true. As far as myself as a person is concerned, I am a retired person , travelling across India to unknown or lesser known destinations. I would have liked to contribute, if I was staying in Karnataka. Thanks for the advice. Sir.
Dear Fred I presume you are not from India. This is the state of affairs of most of our cultural monuments especially if they happen to be Hindu. We have been systematically brainwashed to belive that we have no good History.
Local communities should come forward or people form temple restoration and preservation group Thank you sharing such a beautiful temple Jai Shri Ram 🙏🇳🇪
👌👌👍👍 I m so happy because this is my native place my dad was born here. And my grandfather was a great indian freedom fighter. And he spent his life in this village only in SUDI. If this place would in USA, it might be the greatest destination for visitors. It would be definitely well maintained by the government. But hear in India We lost self respect because we lost our Shiva Sanskriti. All Shiva worshipers should come together and preserve this heritage structure for our next generation.
People of Sudi, if they keep this structure well maintained and publicize it properly, it can bring in lot of tourists . This has the potential to change the lives of the locals. Preservation will only help the local people as well as the economy of the village.
A good effort bringing this excellent structure, agree local people , youngsters should come forward efforts should be made to preserve this ancient structure

You said something very key the locals have an abandoned carefree demeanor regarding this structure. When looking back into the ancient past what’s important to be able to grasp is the attitude and spirit of the people that lived during that time. We would be shocked to know how they felt and acted. Understanding the difference in our attitudes now compared to then is the transition that needs to be addressed. We can quantify how these ancient buildings were built before we could get with their behavior. The work needs to start right here at home in our own hearts and minds! Do we care to be free or have these kings and governments mold our thoughts further and further away from unlimited potential and proven past paradisiacal heritage?
