We need to resist the urge to analyse the DA through the lense of ANC politics. John being friendly to the ANC and Helen being critical is a good cop bad cop strategy, which is obvious to anyone who thinks outside ANC politics. MK hasn't featured very well in municipal by-elections held after our National elections. I think they're more of a 7 day wonder than a solid party although it's still early days for me to say that with 100% conviction. Our next municipal elections will give us a much better indication of how the party will fare in the future.

I think ActionSA can still shine heading towards the local government elections, I'm not a fan but if the ActionSA Mayor does well on behalf of the residents in Tshwane and maintains the support base they had in Johannesburg and else where they can still remain a relevant party.
