Just recently within last 3 years, I have gotten very heavy into air guns. The realistic feelings, looks and weights, of handguns and rifles is amazing. I live in town, and can still go in my back yard, or basement and shoot. This, Barra, i WILL buy very soon. Its a game changer! Thank you for the very detailed review!

Above 360 m/s you get a bang due to the sound barrier. 380 m/s and above , can't be silent.
A silencer on a gun or rifle needs different ammo.
Even a novice knows the bang, from an object going through the sound barrier.

Your reviews are awesome and I really enjoy your work.
This gun, for me anyway, is a "must have" for my collection.
I already have more airguns then I know what to do with, so 1 more wont hurt anything.
I literally need a separate room in my home just for all my airguns...I'm sure most of you reading this can relate.
Unfortunately I'm very weak when it comes to airguns...I always tell myself "this will be the last one for awhile" only to buy the next best thing that I see.
The consistent power, the accuracy and quietness of this gun is a sure thing for me.
Plus being the first "electric" gun that I know of makes it a must have.
    Again, thanks for your work.
Your channel is definitely one of the best.

I can also say that it truly is a remarkable machine.. Just with the iron sights it is very accurate. Only have a setup at 25 yards, trying to clear a longer field soon. Groups like you shot at that short range works farther out also just rips the bullseyes right out lol !!. Love it So impressed I have more fun with the irons
and a whole lot cheaper to train with than...you know the heavier artillery. Crazy fun lines up fast, takes out the target dead nuts lol

I must be the ONLY guy in the world with a terrible experience with the speed loader because no one gives this gun ANYTHING but a great review. The speed loader jams constantly. The absurd path that the bbs have to travel jams every time and all the time. The few bbs that get to the exit tube jam at the exit hole and become completely unable to be installed in the magazine. What the hell is going on?$500+ buck and I want some quality.

Ovonics makes excellent packs by the way, go for the high C packs so the voltage don't drop off under load dropping your power under full auto as the voltage sags. Get you a 70 to 100c pack (c is your discharge rate the pack can handle, for example a 100c 2200mah pack is rated for 220 amps and of course you will have voltage sag at say 20 amps BUT a 100c pack will have far less voltage sag than a 25c pack) high C rated packs are much higher quality packs as well, the low C crappy packs are not very good packs over all the 75+ C packs are much higher quality packs.

Mine is well on its way to be delivered Wed, June 22. Already have the 6,000 count BB's, B3 charger and battery pack rated 35c @ 2200 mAh, direct from Amazon Prime.
Quick question: you mentioned purchasing battery packs rated "70 to 100c". Having done my research before making decision to purchase 400e, it is recommended by manufacturer to use packs 25-35c otherwise you could possibly risk damaging gearbox and motor. Have you used 70-100c with no issues or just assuming the higher the rating the better, which obviously on paper and performance-wise I would agree it would outperform max 25-35c easily, but can the operating system handle that discharg rate?

    • @rayman4449

I just purchased one of these through Amazon. Shot it the same day I received it. I swear I did not want to put it down. Talk about sweet and accuracy. Got a red dot coming in the mail tomorrow. Once that is set I’ll be ready to go to town sort of speak and let those BB’s fly. The only pain is having to reload. Ordering an extra mag and reloader because I can see the reloader eventually breaking since it is all plastic with plastic gears. It’s just like the rest of them that I use so they don’t last forever. Anyway, great video. Enjoy the fun. I know I am.

Very aware of the limitations of C02 powered guns and time my full-auto with controlled bursts, helps to ensure slide / barrel assy, / bolt locks rear when magazine empty. Electric powered BB rifle without the limitations of C02 powered guns is a wonderful thing. M9A3 works excellently with 2 full magazines while shooting controlled bursts. Imagine being able to shoot the blowback UMEREX replicas without changing C02..That would be nice. Meanwhile, (before I purchase this rifle) the slide assembly on the Berreta M9A3 and the barrel assy on the Luger P08 MUST lock open on the last shot for the proper entertainment. So, proper timing with C02 cartridges is essential.

There are lots of effective ways to achieve this.
The engineers stated that it was their initial plan but they had problems delivering on time so we're stock with that *for the moment.*
It is #1 on their priority list to make a better one since there are so many people already complaining about the exact same thing.
Cool thing I learned so far is that this bad boy is almost totally modable with airsoft parts (longer/shorter barrel, more powerfull motor, battery voltage, piston, spring, etc) are all parts commonly found in the airsoft community. But they also stated that the best power vs accuracy is already at it's full potential as it is.
As for the AR platform, some of the real AR accessories will fit just right (im thinking about clipping 2 mags together, gun skins, etc...).
They're also planning a surprise whitch they won't talk much about but everyone is suspecting it will be a full auto that shoots pellet.
Anyway, just wait a couple of months or a year and you will see youtube flooded by videos of mods done to this baby.
      👍

Cool rifle. They basically made an airsoft gun into a BB gun. I'm surprised no manufacturer has tried this before. I agree with the economy of the batteries it is Very cost effective. I will be curious to see if the mechanism can be improved in the future to increase rate of fire or velocity perhaps on subsequent models? The price did set me off a bit to be honest though. $400 seems a bit much for that in my opinion. They are available now on the Barra website and I didn't see them at Pyramid Air or Airgun Depot. Having worked in marketing for a long time I think they may have misjudged their market a bit. With the Crosman auto BB guns still hovering around 179-199 even with CO2 cost that's a bit of a stretch even considering the economy of the battery. I think a price of 275-299 might be a more suitable price and I will bet we shall see the price come down on this cool little rifle. I would be a buyer if it was under $300 there are too many great air guns at $400 that aren't made in the PRC. Thanks as always for sharing this J.C. take care and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

If I recall, paintballs had a sweet spot fps 285 to 290? Something due to weight, size, aerodynamics. I would expect 6mm airsoft, at the individual weights 20 gr .25 gr and so on would have a similar formula. Transfer this to the .177 cal bbs which I would expect from brand to brand or type would have their own specific aerodynamics sweet spot.
Sometimes math can be fun, when 1 knows the formula that is. I can see a fairly large amount of platforms of airsofts mfg sizing to .177 cal and probably stay with the bb platform due to simply, how long does it take to load a 50 shot pellet clip with a pellet speed loader, which also has to be loaded precisely, compared to a 50 shot bb with a speedloader.
Factor how fast at full auto it can be empty. I forsee the AEG BBs platforms will replace the CO2 platforms we have had for years.
Super job introducing a very impressive new bit of technology for us.
    Thank you!

So I really want this gun.
It's truly unique and performs well.
Then I looked up the price.
I'm not talking the price of the batteries and chargers.
That's no biggy, particularly by comparison. The price of the gun, however, is a huge negative.
    It's $400!
It's the first of its kind, from a company that wants to make a name for itself through innovation.
    I understand that.
I also understand that the price may come down after Early Adopter fever fades.
But when the Crosman CO2 equialents are less than $200 at retail price, when the Umarex CO2 equivalent is just over $100, the fact that you have to buy a $30 battery set to use your gun becomes a trivial investment.
It is a great gun, and I still want it, but I admit I'd be hard pressed to justify that price tag.
Is this gun really twice as good as the CO2 equivalents?
    I don't know.
And I'm really concerned about something else:
Airgun magazines tend to price based on the cost of the gun, with the $100+ guns often having $20 to $30 magazines and the $200-ish guns having $50 magazines. Is Barra going to charge equivalent prices here? Is a new (or replacement) magazine going to cost $100 or more? Because that's a big deal.
I'm truly excited about this gun. Even with my complaints, I haven't given up the idea of the gun entirely, but it is a very steep price to ask people to pay.
The thing that worries me most about the price is that the gun is a great invention at a price point people aren't going to like. I'd hate to see Barra decide the idea is useless because people don't want to pay that price and discontinue the innovations and economy of scale that would bring that price into a more attractive and reasonable range.
That's my two cents based on quick research and some brand knowledge.
I'd be interested in responses though, because if I'm wrong about what people are willing to pay, that's useful to know.

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  2 года назад

I think it's all relative. The initial cost is higher but the fact you don't need to ever purchase Co2's is a huge factor. Depending on the amount of shooting you do, after the equivalent of 40 Co2's the $200 difference starts to decrease. Then you are getting a full metal rifle that does not lose velocity, unlike the Co2 powered rifles. Remember this is a purchase for backyard fun. The practicality of many airguns are valued by the individual. Also...I think spare magazines will be very inexpensive based on the fact the are simply spring loaded, nothing too complicated. I really appreciate you tuning in and thank you for leaving those detailed comments. Happy Shooting 👍

    • @brorjordas1979
      @brorjordas1979 2 года назад

Yup. $400 is quite high. But I kinda knew already it ain't gonna be cheap. Airsoft AEG rifles are way more expensive than our co2 DPMSs etc. $500 is common - and that's why I never been out to buy one.
Which leads me then into this rifle. Seems like just an airsoft AEG - but in 4.5mm. But how much is now innovated for this one? If the battery holds up - then how about the gearbox? Metal or plastic? How about the piston?..and so on. Raises many questions I'd like to know an answer to in beforehand.
I personally gonna wait this out a bit to see how it performs over time. Maybe it is totally "the latest" in internals and will hold up a constant thru several hundred thousand rounds.. or if not - we'll definitely gonna hear about it. Airsofts do mostly have aftermarket spare parts for sale - but that thing is rare when talking 4.5mm airguns. I have no idea - but this Barra could even hold a Tokyo Marui or VFC gearbox in it. But that's just a wild thought of mine...

    • @dakotahrickard
      @dakotahrickard 2 года назад

@@brorjordas1979 I was wondering how much this was related to the airsoft equivalents.
It's using an airsoft battery to shoot. I haven't the airsoft experience to evaluate it in comparison to airsoft guns. On the other hand, they are patenting their technology, meaning they have done ... something to warrant that need for a patent.

@Dakotah Rickard I completely agree with your assertions. Check out my comment if you get a chance. These guns are an adult "toy" and I think the velocity drop off while significant is a bit overhyped. • @dakotahrickard
      @dakotahrickard 2 года назад

@@TacticalJackalope I mean, of course they're toys. For a lot of people, range day is meant to be fun, recreational time.
I guess the problem I have is that, toy or no, the product is expensive enough not to attract significant market share, and the fact that it doesn't come with a battery could create bad feeling. The only way products like these, which are valuable in their element, will become less expensive or at least better known is for the market to embrace the trend. I don't think people will arbitrarily spend that kind of money on a bb gun without being relatively serious in the hobby and having pretty significant disposable income.
Consider that people who watch this channel are serious in the hobby of airgunning, at least serious enough to either be subscribed or to have looked up the video after seeing the product somewhere.
I'm not worried, particularly, about whether the viewership of the channel will purchase the gun.
I'm just thinking about the potential market in general, which won't understand the price tag and won't be prepared for it to be so expensive but not have a battery included.
I'm still pretty interested in the gun, even though, as I understand, it doesn't field strip like the Crosman competetor, because it also doesn't need CO2 and doesn't lose too much accuracy over time thereby.
I'm even interested in it despite having a shoestring budget.
But the rest of the uninformed market might ruin it for us by their negative opinion and reviews and negative uptake of the product.

Ever since I got my first 6mm Airsoft AEG years ago (a Tokyo Marui MP5), I was hoping someone would come out with a .177 caliber steel BB AEG (Automatic Electric Gun). Now it is finally here! I have several CO2 full auto BB guns, but as you mentioned, the cooling of the CO2 cartridges and drop in velocity takes much of the fun out of shooting them. I'll have to get one of these ASAP! I'm sure other manufacturers will be jumping on the bandwagon and developing they're own versions of a .177 AEG in the near future (if they haven't started already).

We have a Umarex MP40 that is extremely cool and very "real" feeling but the Co2 seems to deter the kids a lot. I bought it for my son a few years ago and even though it is a lot of fun to shoot, it doesn't get used as much as I hoped it would. This looks like something that the family would use a lot more and there's no Co2 to change out. Do these electric air rifles still have seals to be concerned about and other similar parts that may require attention or does the electric change all of that? Thanks very much for the video, I'm definitely going to be looking into this electric air rifle. Stay safe & God Bless.

So basically, this is an Airsoft AEG that has been repurposed to shoot metal BB instead of plastic ones. Could upgrade this rifle? Maybe put in a set dual sector gears for better rate of fire? It would be interesting to see how Airsoft upgrade you can put into this gun.

Maybe in time the price will come down a bit. I know they were a bit pricey to manufacturer. Everything is so inflated right now 🤨 Thank you for watching 👍
