It saddens me that Kamisama kiss is not analyzed in-depth by people such as glass reflection, anime America, Mother's Basement, etc. People like to go on like how romantic or funny it is, but if you look at it deeply, there is a really strong story. It's a story about an ordinary human who is constantly looked down upon and faces obstacles, yet perceveres anyway to do the right thing. There are themes like vulnerability and mortality, loneliness, companionship (which Mizuki learns instead of only settling with romance since he had no social skills), etc. More importantly, imo, Nanami is one of the most grounded female characters in anime and manga and it's a shame she is not used as such an example when people talk about good heroines in the medium.
i’m also collecting Kamisama Kiss and it’s honestly one of my most favorite/cherished shoujos of all time. i fell in love with the anime as a kid and decided to collect the manga as an adult. plus i was overjoyed when i found out the mangaka has the same birthday as me😂😂

Recently I picked up volume 1 of Kamisama Kiss from the library. I honestly didn’t expect to like it since I’m usually not into shoujo that much but I actually enjoyed the first volume so much so I want to read more now haha.

The Kamisama Kiss volumes are soooo pretty !! I really like shoujo beat, their font choices and spines tend to be really nice. Been thinking of picking up this series too, though I’m in the middle of buying Kimi Ni Todoke Which is also real long lol

One thing that saddens me is that while you have people talk about it, no one seems to do an in-depth analysis like Glass Reflection, Anime America, Mother's Basement, etc. It's a shame because as a grown man reading the manga, I find it to be a really solid story with themes like overcoming obstacles in spite of limitations, vulnerability and mortality, etc. IMO, Nanami is one of the best female manga/anime characters for being more grounded and relatable.

I needed this. I just got an email from Amazon saying they canceled my Spy X Family Vol 3 order. I waited a month and a half. It was supposed to be back in stock tomorrow, they canceled it today. Kamisama kiss was the first series that I got physical mangas because I just love the series so much! I bought volumes 15-20 about five years ago but sold them about four months ago 🥲 Now I regret it so much since I’m really into collecting mangas now.
Ah hope you can find some of the volumes 🤞🤞💗 they’re going to reprint at some point so Dw as they’re not out of print x

I've watched the anime and I love it. I tried looking it up on the usual online shops I buy my manga but there was none of it. I do hope they will reprint and sell it here in my country to. It's amazing that you were able to collect 21 volumes in 2 weeks.

Should you know how a series ends before you start collecting it? I guess you can resell, but I got a fear if it doesnt end well😩
It really depends, so far there has been series with endings that either i wasn't a fan of or i didn't expect to happen but it normally doesn't spoil my overview of the whole series x so i don't tend to fear if it doesn't end well! I only fear if it was crap from the get go like the beginning 😂😂 cause the guilty feeling i get from picking up a series that i don't like that's the worst ahahah

Do yo work for a manga bookstore or industry? If manga are available at the libraries, then why buy them?
No I work in film. I haven’t been to a library over 12 years 😂Do they have all the series as well? No!
Simple answer is what’s the problem in buying manga if you wanna support the series and own it.
@@Himeka_00 My public libraries buy all brand new books for me. They don't buy just 1 book when I request them to purchase, but they end up buying 50 books for 1 volume, so in a way, I support the authors and the publishers 50 times. All the books that the libraries order are brand new, & no one likes to read manga where I live, so I am the only one that used all of those brand new manga for all of the volumes. Yes, the libraries will purchase all of the series as well as all of the volumes--- at least in the U.S. they do.
