Thank you! This was extremely helpful! The spring fell out of my bobbin case & I didn't know how to put it back in correctly. All fixed now thanks to your video!
Thanks for this! My spring falls out on its own, super easily when changing a bobbin. Hopefully adjusting it will help, mine is definitely on the flat side.
Thanks for the info. Do you have a video showing how to save a quilting pattern? I am having issues saving a quilt pattern once I have started quilting a quilt top then having to stop for a few hours then getting started back where I left off. If you have a video for that I would love to see it..
Do I really need this spring in my bobbin case? I bought a new bobbin case and it's without the spring What problems I am going to face?? I have ricoma 12 needle machine
I've notice a lot of bobbin cases for industrial embroidery machines don't have a backlash spring. I know that you run tension tighter in the bobbin for embroidery machines than you do for quilting machines. If the original bobbin case had backlash springs I would try to get the bobbin case for your specific machine.
How do I identify the front and back of the backlash spring? Do I just select one side and identify as ‘front’ so the other side is automatically the ‘back?’
One side of the backlash spring has little tabs that are closer together and the other side has tabs that are further apart. You can match them up with your bobbin case so that it fits in correctly. The center of the spring should be the tallest part of the spring.
Thank you for your reply. I tried it on my bobbin case and it works. That seems to have taken care of the “eyelashes” on the back of my quilt. I’ve been going nuts trying to solve the eyelash problem. It’s somewhat frustrating that the problem had such an easy fix. Thank you for the information.

Thanks--my spring was wonky and I also wasn't sure how it went back in the case. You were a big help!
