Both were extremely well behaved, happy, sociable, and well adjusted for all of their 14.5 years of life. They loved when I put the collar on because it meant training and fun. Both were trained to stop, on the spot, when given the command. One day, I opened my front door and across the street my boy Caesar saw his best dog friend and bolted down the stairs. I yelled stop and he froze halfway down the stairs. At the same time a car was passing by. I don’t think giving him a cookie at the time would have saved his life, because his desire to play with his doggy friend was stronger than any treat I could have offered him. If used properly and ethically, all training tools should be used appropriately for the dog’s personality as well as the circumstances. I believe E-collar training, when done responsibly, can be a life saver. I have trained one of my dogs, a well trained dog, who chased deer over a busy roadway because he wouldn't listen to my recall command when he was in chase mode. The e-collar training stopped this behavior quickly and I transitioned from electric pulse to vibrate and beeps and didn't have to use the electric pulse after that to get a recall from my dog immediately.

Did not ruffle one of my feathers . Lol enjoyed and agreed with all of this . And I work to teach ppl about how ecollar, pinch collar , balanced training is not cruel - when you know what you are doing . All this force free is creating a climate where you can’t take dogs anywhere for the ill behaviour of all other dogs. Dog bites are up, surrenders are up , and I see these mentally damaged dogs locked in houses everywhere… and ppl wondering why …
I've never been interested in this dog sport, but I've always thought there a specific utility to it, especially with certain temperaments who really needed to channel their more predatory and alert nature. This was an absolutely fascinating conversation. Thank you! ❤❤
I enjoyed the whole conversation. 28:00 (to 35:00) 57:45... Award from the mayor 1:01:55…not aggression instead needed guidance 1:03:55... Pitbull 1:17:50... 1:31:25... the technology to see the abuse 1:33:30... Only insist on licensing if it's in all four quadrants...
I use dogtra and am very happy with it and the adjustment. My level is 2 and sometimes 3. Sometimes a nick and sometimes continuous. Today even the Monks of New Skette are advocates for the ecollar. I should tell you I compete my dogs in field trials but I enjoy listening to your topics.
It’s exactly like when a child touches a hot stove , or puts the finger in a socket . It’s immediate , they know it’s danger. For the dogs it is danger , so they can live .
Ive used E collars and Gps collars on my hunting dogs for many years . Never go hunting without them. Great great tools. I can stop my dog from running something it shouldnt and getting out on a road. People that speak against E collars have no idea about the use of these collars.
I agree. I have a DOGGO ARGENTINO it is about the only thing that can stop him a little bit. I will say if he gets fully enraged, that does not even stop him.
When your dog gets run over by a bus because you coukd call him back from a distance, don't post how upset you are because you didnt use a tool that woukd of prevented it!!!!!
1:23:00 yea there might be plenty of dogs/business to go around but the positive only are not very good trainers and more often then not can not produce the results they claim their ideology can, thus they have to demonize and handicap balanced trainers to compete on a results based scale. They need to pull down the effectiveness of balanced trainers because balanced trainers are so much more effective. So they must ban certain tools like E-collars, because an e-collar can teach a dog perfect recall within 1-2 sessions where as there positive only methods may months to years in some dog and lets be honest in most dogs it never works. they want the new normal to be their much lower standard
abandoning dogs or any pet because people can't deal with behavior and time commitments is far more abusive and cruel than a properly used e collar. The bans of e collars in Germany or any other country because of ignorant politicians is phooey. Frankly lazy people who do not want to visually supervise their dog use e fences and e no bark, yet a supervised dog with a remote collar not legal. Just plain illogical and based on emotions and not science.
I will never save a run away dog, because one of my neighbor's dog used to run away all the time, and has been in my house on my porch multiple times, last time he ran away, he almost killed my Yorkie.
I have a DogTra ARc e-collar and its great but have to admit before getting used to how to get the right fit for my dog it was frustrating many of a time where ive gone to use it and there was no skin contact, i remember thinking i wish there was a way to know if there's good skin contact. Ive just looked at one of these Martins as the tech seems really good but they're a tad expensive. I think i'll defiantly get one but might have to save for a few months first lol
Australian here: I personally never have used an e collar or prong on any dog I have owned, including my current one. I can't grasp how many in the USA use them. Is it people don't understand other techniques??. Or are they lazy?? Great chat by the way
Just one correction: If you want to be a dog trainer in Germany you do not have to go to a trainer school by "Martin Rütter" there are many professional schools for dog trainers and you can choose free. Prices vary but usually you have to put a good amount of money on the table to take these courses (from 2.5k € to 25k € - it depends). The license than is usually granted to you by your local veterinary office, sometimes with an extra examination of your knowledge theoretically and practically. It depends on your local veterinary office because they all handle this differently.
Pitbull history nerd here. Pitbulls were bred for more then just fighting dogs. Bears and bulls were the original targets in baiting type games as a farm test and hunting test in one. But they werent bred for needless aggression. Humans messed that up as well. Pitbulls should have intense people pleasing drive working drive decent prey drive and some guardian instincts. But primary drive should be peoppe pleasing. Dogs had ro be able ro be near dogs they were going to fight or had already faught and not be an issue till told to fight or placed in the ring. Same as bite work with dogs now adays and the old school style. Protection pitbulls were bred from the same lines and just had slightly more territorial natures and needed training. The hunting types more chase and catch drive. Fighting lines slightly higher aggression. You also have some breeders purposefully breeding badly aggressive animals as easier to train pitbulls or no training pitbulls for certain jobs.
It would be nice if ANY information of this type was provided in this podcast. Mostly it is just a lot of words and complaining, with a few interesting stories mixed in. It contains zero actionable information. If they want to save the e-collar, then educate to avoid misuse. This podcast was an enormous opportunity flushed down the drain. (Admittedly I didn't make it to the end because it was driving me insane.)
I walk a high reactive dog about 65 lbs. reactive towards people cats dogs children etc… she’s loud charges towards them always in alert. I started using prong on her, saying loud no and popping her, finally I see a change. All I say is no and she stops. Still have a long way to go. Am I missing something?
Great interview. I love my dogs.... I LOVE my dogs and because I love my dogs, I want them to be a good healthy weight, I want them to have boundaries and limitations, training, socialization so that they can also have some freedom and a full life. Way too many people out there claiming to love their dogs so much they just cannot correct the bad behavior, their dogs live small, closed in lives. Boring lives on the couch or in their yard or at the very best...at the end of a leash with little to no freedom. I also love my E-collars AND SO DO MY DOGS! When my dogs see their e-collars come out they get very excited. To them, the collar means they are going hiking or to the beach....something fun and free, off leash. Tools are only as dangerous or cruel as the person on the other end of the leash. Personally, I think people who ban tools are cruel, because a lot of dogs suffer for it. I have Tri-Tronics collars and now... Dogtra One mistake people make is thinking it is electrocuting dogs. It isn't. An e-collar SHOULD be a simple extension of your hand. Anything can be abused, if the person is abusive. Not all tools are for all dogs. It is a matter of knowing your dog, knowing how to properly use a tool and to be fair on all things.
It would be great to see a podcast between yourself and a positive, only dog trainer. It would never happen as they would have to accept that they are wrong. Maybe a podcast with Susan Garret, Canadian dog trainer.
Off leash -owner MUST HAVE RECALL. I never take my dogs to dog parks. We train in a duck park. My dogs are trained not to mess with the ducks and the untrained dogs can’t come cause they’re ducks everywhere. I am so grateful to be able to have a place to train. Private wild life area, but every once in a while , a ding ding owner comes and they let their untrained dog off the leash and they NEVER can call their dog back, but we keep training and my Mal is so focused-they leave, but sometimes their dog gets in my dogs face or tries to take his tug. They are so lucky my dog is trained neutral -I let the owners have it. They usually leave then. Thank God!!
I am in Argentina. These people are trying to forbid buying and selling dogs. Dog breeders are being persecuted more and more, (instead of legislating and regulating , and persecuting puppy Mills). Now e collar, slip and prong collar, considered legally as animal cruelty, as well as bark collars. Any bigger than a toy breed are also persecuted as a potentially dangerous dog,. They are also going after horses, as they are not supposed to work either, pull a cart or being ride. Most people repeat as parrots whatever the media say, while they do own a pure breed dog. It is insane. At some point, we have to be able to unite globally and make more noise than what they do. Otherwise we are going to see the extinction of any domesticated animal.
They’re against e-collars yet they probably use devices for/on themselves all the time that do similar things. Of course the industry calls them “haptics”, instead of “shock”. I wonder how many of the naysayers to the e-collar use smart phones and smart watches without a second thought. Some people also equate this to Tens machines as well.
Good stuff, but one minute they talking about pitbulls bred for aggression and then 5min later Bart says aggression is from fear, bingo, Pitbulls were never bred for aggression they were bred for commitment to the battle, its not aggression, and I wish Robert would stop saying pitbulls were bred for aggression they were not.
@@MoreOnPleeez This may be so, but all experience is not equal and data is often badly flawed because identification of a dog was wrong in the first instance. He is dealing with shelter Pitbulls for the most part, and data is from there and the media both inaccurate because of inaccurate identification of the dog, these purebreeds and crosses and dogs with no pitbul blood are the public versions of the breed, not the real ones that were bred for gameness by people who understand it. Stating they are bred for aggression in a public arena propagates that idea in newbies to the breed, the man in the street doesn't draw a line between the differences between aggression and gameness in dogs, Pitbulls get a raw deal from the public because the average person does not understand gameness is commitment, while aggression is insecurity, many suburban breeders think an aggressive dog is a game dog because that's what is put out in the media, the consequence of that is so many unwanted traits are being bred into these suburban dogs that should not be there. When a dog bites somebody in public, the dog doesn't hitchhike to the scene. There is ALWAYS a human mistake that was made that put him there, yet the dog is the one that pays the price many times with their life all because of a dog ignorant owner. Breed-specific laws in any form are wrong and will never achieve anything to stamp out dogs attacking people, individual dogs from all breeds under certain conditions bite people, not a breed of dog.
@@rodbarker6598 Yeah, a Pit Bull can bite into a random Golden Retriever in the street and refuse to let go. ( If you see this, pump a few rounds into the Pit Bull. Another reason to always carry a firearm if you can.) They do it because gamebred Pit Bulls are wired/selectively bred for combat. Read about Michael Vick's selection methods. You can be certain that re**a*d didn't invent that stuff, he got it all from the existing fighting dog culture.

Obviously you understand nothing about dogs. Please never own a dog in your life 😊
Thank you for a great episode!!!
I have been questioning why they never come for the invisible fence only the remote collar. Now I understand, thank you
I believe E-collar training, when done responsibly, can be a life saver.
Michael and Bart are phenomenal. First of all what a cute couple. Secondly, they are so well-spoken, so knowledgeable on the issue, and you can tell they're just very good righteous people. Love this love them
Thanks a million for this Robert!
Watched it twice now and I will watch it again.
Brilliant information video
👍
Amazing conversation. 👏👏👏👏
Absolutely wonderful educational podcast
Thanx for this podcast
Absolutely awesome chat, so fascinating! Thanks for much, would love to watch a follow up!
Looking forward to that application. Very very good podcast. The first I finished this year.
Hope you enjoy it!
@@RobertCabralDogs ohh yeah, I loved every second of the podcast. Should follow up on his school and maybe what's the future here in the Asian continent.
Wow
My 3rd time watching
There was so much information packed in I had to listen to your guest’s more than once
Just a simple thank you, Mr Cabral for providing much important info
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! ❤❤
Great discussion. Thank you.
Nice interview Robert. Quality trainers, quality people! I am looking forward for the next Bellon interview.
I enjoyed the whole conversation.

I’ll be the first in line to get my e-collar certification.
Thanks for this interesting clip
I used to live by a school yard and people turned it into a dogpark despite the no dog signs. The level of entitlement in these owners blows my mind.
Awesome video Robert. Thank you.
I loved hearing the story of Flip ❤️
I’ve learned so much from this , thank you !
Thanks for this. ❤️ Love it ❤️ keep up the good work ❤️
I was waiting for full video, it's always good to listen to you all.
I didn't think I'd listen the podcast all the way through, and my dog is an American Akita 🤣🤣🤣.
Great conversation !!!
Enjoying this, I was preaching this so far to my trainers literally in the last couple days.
Thank you for the awareness’s 🤙
Okay, but can we talk about Michael’s hair 😍😍😍
Also Burt is a badass for the dog in the water situation. Lol @6:50
What does her hair have anything to do with anything?
I like her name.
@@poppyflower7873 it’s just really pretty and I wanted to note it. Lol
@@poppyflower7873 what does her name have to do with anything? 😆
Listened from start to finish 👍
I live in Maine and would be more than willing to join in your band of people who advocate for the future of dog training.
I’m 23 and wiling to dedicate my entire life to advocate for dogs like mine who would still be a fearful mess if I followed the ff agenda.
It’s exactly like when a child touches a hot stove , or puts the finger in a socket . It’s immediate , they know it’s danger. For the dogs it is danger , so they can live .
I love my Martin system still not sure if I prefer rising stim or just use flash.
Thank.God for.Robert Cabral! Hey public voice with a backbone, how rare.
I recognize the Malinois wrist bandage. Ha!
Very informative, thanks.
Stay safe.Peace
part 2 please !!!!!!!!!!!
I will never save a run away dog, because one of my neighbor's dog used to run away all the time, and has been in my house on my porch multiple times, last time he ran away, he almost killed my Yorkie.
There are a lot if people out there have dogs, who should ne er have dogs.
I think i'll defiantly get one but might have to save for a few months first lol
agreed Robert, no licensing, it ties you to the rules they come up with, else you are breaking the law....
Australian here: I personally never have used an e collar or prong on any dog I have owned, including my current one. I can't grasp how many in the USA use them. Is it people don't understand other techniques??. Or are they lazy??
Great chat by the way
Some dogs just don't like certain dogs and maybe fine with their reg friends but you never know.
You guys really think they will ban prongs ecollars martingales etc in the U.S? This is nuts. Dope podcast learn a lot, thanks
I've never seen Robert so quiet, Bart stole the show.
What did Mr. Bellon mean by the free application?
check his website...
Me and my daughter was chased from a psa club because she was 19 and they didn’t want young people in the club.
Any recommendations for the best, most affordable e-collar for the basic owner/trainer? My boy needs help on recall.
I’m not a trainer but I prefer the Educator mini.
❤
Bart is such a G
It would be great to see a podcast between yourself and a positive, only dog trainer. It would never happen as they would have to accept that they are wrong.
Maybe a podcast with Susan Garret, Canadian dog trainer.
She could teach them how to train a dog without aversions. She’s the best trainer on this planet. You just don’t understand dogs.
Vercingetorix. Like a true Celt. The breeders will always cover their trail.
When someone says, "My dog is friendly" my first thought is "until he's not."
It sounds crazy, but there seems to be hidden agendas everywhere you turn...
Indulgence without limit isn't love. There must be limits
Many of the same people who hate e-collars don't believe in keeping dogs for pets.
You need to have Tony and Katie Nikl on this podcast
They’re against e-collars yet they probably use devices for/on themselves all the time that do similar things. Of course the industry calls them “haptics”, instead of “shock”. I wonder how many of the naysayers to the e-collar use smart phones and smart watches without a second thought. Some people also equate this to Tens machines as well.
In Germany you don't need a license from Martin Rütter. You must receive the license from your local veterinary office
I agree with you BUT he has every right to his opinion and his opinion is based off of data and experience.
Robert and his good friends know best! 😎 if everyone could listen to you it would be awesome all dogs 😎 would get on and be friends 👍👌😀
