Actually if you beat the game once you gain the ability to play it again but with the sound on, it doesn’t make the story better or anything, actually it might even be worse, but it is an option.
In theory, I think it’s a neat concept. Like, how do you perceive certain situations just from lip-reading, body movement, and preconceived notions? Then, how is that turned on its head whenever you hear the real thing? It’s too bad the game attached to that concept was so bad :(
@@keeganhooker8448 the option to play through again with audio upon completion wasn't even in the base release of the game. It was patched in! Weeks after release if I remember correctly

The bad gameplay made it too stretched out, I guess. I wouldn’t know, got the quiet story from this vid and the audio story from a playthrough, where I skipped the fighting. If they’d condense both versions into a feature length film and made the reveal shorter, I think the film would honestly be very entertaining.

I think the Final Fantasy menu noises were the game letting us in on what it truly feels like to be deaf with an artistic twist. We hear what he hears though! It's a bold move to call a game The Quiet Man and place such emphasis on how the protagonist cant hear, then also give him karate magic and put him in a world where hearing isnt important .
16:53 - actual transcript of the monologue Isaac (Sports Gangster): Jesus, this mask is stupid. We’re _both_ done playing games. You know what I like the best about you, Dane (The Quiet Man)…? [Laughs] You can’t hear a fucking word I say! I could beat the living shit out of you, tell you how much of an idiot you are and always have been… and you can’t hear a word of it. [Begin third phase of the fight.] Isaac: (cracks neck) You know that you’re deaf, but did you also know that you’re blind? Because if you weren’t, you would’ve seen _everything._ Your mother… Taye (Punished “Stencils” Friend Gangster)… Your father? Oh, that’s the best part, isn’t it? Dear old dad… [Begin second phase of the fight.] Isaac: I understand it now. Blindness. And I can tell you because- Well, we’re such good old friends aren’t we? That what’s happening to you… is also what’s happening to me. You’re blinded by grief. Me? By ambition. [Begin first phase of the fight.] Isaac: I’m not stupid ‘coz I got caught up in somebody else’s game… But after I’m through with you, somebody’s gotta pay! Robert (Father Cop) first… And then that clever little chica. She’s gonna pay the most.
So from what i gathered in the audio version the story is almost more nonsensical..... Our main character’s name is Dane and he went through a large amount of trauma after his mom died and that cop that talked to him is his ACTUAL DAD. Yup his actual dad that was also abusive to him because the dad BLAMES HIM FOR GETTING HIS MOTHER KILLED. Which is crazy already but the doozy is that Dane created this alter ego of “The Quiet Man” which is the bird masked man as in the games own words “An Outlet For His Pain”. It also turned out that Dane was the the one that kidnapped singer girl, Lala, as the quiet man which in the end was his all part of his father’s master plan. To try and turn Dane into the “Quiet Man” to get revenge on the two guys that killed his wife but in the end dane saw his father as the “Quiet man” the source of all his anger and violence. And that Dane was just imagining fighting the bird mask man while he was actually doing his father’s bidding. Little side note here they Acknowledge that Lala looks like Dane’s mom and he is cool with it. Also they never explain the shadow bird mask powers. It literally is just as random as it is.
The best part after looking up the story is that father cop and abusive dad are same person. And the whole event of the game was part of a revenge plot by father cop.
For anybody that actually wants to know wtf the plot is, Here's the plot, Word for word through the wiki, Copy-pasted. Ahem: A young, deaf boy named Dane interrupts a quarrel between his friend, Taye, and a bully, Isaac, that results in Dane's mother Lorraine getting shot when Taye and Isaac struggle over a gun. Isaac takes credit for the killing and is arrested while Taye runs away. Dane's policeman father, Robert, blames Dane for his wife's death and becomes abusive toward him. Dane, traumatized by these events, makes up a character in his drawings named "The Quiet Man", who resembles a plague doctor. Years later, Dane serves as an enforcer for Taye, who runs a nightclub and leads an American Mafia-styled mob. Taye expresses concern about his girlfriend, a singer named Lala (who appears identical to Lorraine), who has been receiving mysterious letters addressed to her by a stalker. When Dane escorts Lala to the nightclub, her performance is interrupted by an ambush from SOL 33, a rival gang led by Isaac. The stalker, who looks like Dane's "Quiet Man" drawing, kidnaps Lala during the confusion. Taye's associate B-Money wants Dane to call Taye about the escalation of the gang war, but Dane prefers to recover Lala on his own. B-Money ignores Dane's advice and calls Taye anyway, inciting the mob boss's anger. Dane tracks Lala's trail throughout the city, leading him to Isaac's penthouse. There Dane fights Isaac, throwing him out a window, and rescues Lala. While escaping the building they encounter Taye, who angrily believes that Dane is the stalker and tried to trick Taye into a gang war with Isaac out of jealously over Lala. Lala explains to Taye that she faked her own kidnapping, but Taye decides to have them both killed. Robert, now a detective, appears and saves them both. As Dane and Robert pursue Taye to his office, Taye shoots Robert and tries to explain to Dane that the death of Lorraine was an accident. Taye is interrupted by Lala before he can shoot Dane, and Taye chases her up to the roof. A wounded Robert encourages Dane to put on The Quiet Man mask to save Lala. As The Quiet Man, Dane confronts Taye and fights off his men. After losing a fight with Dane, Taye decides to shoot Lala but Dane takes the bullet for her. Injured, Dane reawakens with supernatural abilities, and kills Taye. Robert appears wearing the Quiet Man mask and reveals he was the stalker, and helped Lala fake her own kidnapping in order to manipulate Dane into killing Isaac and Taye to get revenge for Lorraine. Dane and Robert fight, ending in both of them collapsing from their injuries. A post-credits scene has Dane being released from prison as a result of his actions, and meeting up with Robert, ready to make amends for the events that have unfolded.
I totally have this game. First time. You can interact with the environment in combat. I did one move to where I was in a kitchen, and when I used the focus button I think L2, and the man was standing in front of the stove, there was a tea kettle on the stove and I ran and jumped in the air in slow motion and then it went fast and then went back to slow motion again to where I kicked like a wall kick and kicked the tea kettle straight onto his head. That was sweet ASF...idk how I did it but it's with triangle while holding the focus button which is L2. There are a lot of hidden fighting moves in the quiet man you just have to discover them yourself by playing around with with the d-pad, dash button which is R2, square, triangle, and circle button. I really liked the game it's very unique and different ☺️. But so far I found only one hidden fighting move which I explained. I still haven't complete the game just yet. But the plot of the game is about a guy who is deaf so that is why the game was made the way it was made and that is why the gameplay has no sound and dialogues and stuff because the character is deaf if anyone is going to bring down the game with hate. But I only had this game for a month now. I'm new to ps4 and I'm a ex-twitch streamer that's a new RUclips Gaming Streamer on the ps4. This is my first ps4 ever. Had it for a year. Bought it on April 1st 2021. I like it, pretty neat and pretty fun. Anyways take care.
Not ending this game (haven’t even played it) but it’s pretty obvious why the hot dog guy and the gang members are audible: you hear them because the story is being “narrated” through an omniscient narrator. From that point onwards there is a transition (a visual one) that clearly transports us into the main character, and the story then becomes narrated through him.
P.s. apparently later in the game we get scenes without the protagonist: that doesn’t nullify the above, it just proves the inconsistency in the design choices.
Someone said the game was late in development when quantum break came out to poor reception, and they realized how dorky their game was, but it was too late to go back so they just pulled the audio and pretended it was an art piece about disability, and that theory fits a lot better than I'm comfortable with
Finding out about this game is like stumbling onto a cool challenge run for something like Elden Ring, Hollow Knight, Red Dead, DOOM, or something. Like, you just read the title, "finishing all of Jedi Fallen Order without using BD," or whatever, and you're like oh that sounds pretty tough. But you watch the video and every couple of minutes the guy narrating mentions something else he has cut himself off from that you hadn't even considered. "Oh my God, this guy can't talk to any NPCs... That means he can't buy from any vendors." "Oh wow, he can't even get the missile capacity upgrade here!" "So this entire chunk of the game you just can't go to it all..." This game is like that. Because someone tells you oh, the character's deaf, and they play it straight--too straight, it's too deaf. What the game tries to convey it fails at, because the game doesn't give you sound or replace it. And you think yourself well that sounds a little weird, but interesting. And then you watch someone play it, and it occurs to you that the game essentially doesn't have a story the first time you play through it. No one has a name, no one has a motivation. There's no soundtrack for most of the game play. And there's no subtitles, which puts everyone on an even footing and having no idea what's going on, but actual players who are really deaf are just going to be further insulted by not knowing that, and assuming that for some reason the game about a deaf man mostly excluded them from participation... except for the ASL spots.

There’s a John Wayne movie also called The Quiet Man, and thinking about these two Quiet Men together is honestly so hilarious.
At 15:00 the Quiet Man realizes he has his period and has no pads or tampons on him.
I actually laughed out loud alone in my room at the Quantum Broke joke
That mgsv joke was so underated because that sounds exactly like a kojima name
One day into the new year and this is already the best video of the year.
Really had me looking to add it to my wishlist before I even watched the video. I've been played.
watched this on rerez when they did a video on it awhile ago so i knew what i was in for and your commentary still killed me.
Love how @17:16 Charlie just takes the hit staring at the gold statue for commentary.... Gold!
Your reward for beating the game is being able to freaking hear it!
damn i've missed him, i wish he could upload more often
What is the purpose of having those scenes done in live-action?
Literally my favourite youtuber. No one quite makes video essays like you
16:53 - actual transcript of the monologue
Isaac (Sports Gangster): Jesus, this mask is stupid. We’re _both_ done playing games. You know what I like the best about you, Dane (The Quiet Man)…? [Laughs] You can’t hear a fucking word I say! I could beat the living shit out of you, tell you how much of an idiot you are and always have been… and you can’t hear a word of it.
[Begin third phase of the fight.]
Isaac: (cracks neck) You know that you’re deaf, but did you also know that you’re blind? Because if you weren’t, you would’ve seen _everything._ Your mother… Taye (Punished “Stencils” Friend Gangster)… Your father? Oh, that’s the best part, isn’t it? Dear old dad…
[Begin second phase of the fight.]
Isaac: I understand it now. Blindness. And I can tell you because- Well, we’re such good old friends aren’t we? That what’s happening to you… is also what’s happening to me. You’re blinded by grief. Me? By ambition.
[Begin first phase of the fight.]
Isaac: I’m not stupid ‘coz I got caught up in somebody else’s game… But after I’m through with you, somebody’s gotta pay! Robert (Father Cop) first… And then that clever little chica. She’s gonna pay the most.
quiet man did a 7 page muda
*best game ever*
Bro, you have to play the Answered mode. It's way more insane than you could possibly imagine
I was laughing already, but absolutely lost it at Punished "Stencils" Friend Gangster lol. Keep up the content my man!
Before the game came out i was thinking, "what an shit idea for a game to have no sound".
For anybody that actually wants to know wtf the plot is, Here's the plot, Word for word through the wiki, Copy-pasted. Ahem:
A young, deaf boy named Dane interrupts a quarrel between his friend, Taye, and a bully, Isaac, that results in Dane's mother Lorraine getting shot when Taye and Isaac struggle over a gun.
This is the hardest I’ve laughed at a RUclips video in a good while. Thanks dawg
10/10 game right here.
Great Review, it showed me the many different reasons why The Quiet Man is the greatest comedy of all time.
>Cinematic Game
>Greatest Game
Me: you can't fool me, Rabbit!
my fave youtuber uploaded on the first day of the year what a way to start
You crack me up dude I'm honestly just working down the videos now what ever the subject matter 🤣
I'd pay good money to see you play this live and snapped like Mike did in that episode lmao
A criminally underrated channel.
I love that this is dedicated to shitting on a game no one's heard of. Simply the best
Someone said the game was late in development when quantum break came out to poor reception, and they realized how dorky their game was, but it was too late to go back so they just pulled the audio and pretended it was an art piece about disability, and that theory fits a lot better than I'm comfortable with
I didn't even know the Game was released
Finding out about this game is like stumbling onto a cool challenge run for something like Elden Ring, Hollow Knight, Red Dead, DOOM, or something.
Like, you just read the title, "finishing all of Jedi Fallen Order without using BD," or whatever, and you're like oh that sounds pretty tough. But you watch the video and every couple of minutes the guy narrating mentions something else he has cut himself off from that you hadn't even considered. "Oh my God, this guy can't talk to any NPCs... That means he can't buy from any vendors." "Oh wow, he can't even get the missile capacity upgrade here!" "So this entire chunk of the game you just can't go to it all..."
This game is like that.
And there's no subtitles, which puts everyone on an even footing and having no idea what's going on, but actual players who are really deaf are just going to be further insulted by not knowing that, and assuming that for some reason the game about a deaf man mostly excluded them from participation... except for the ASL spots.
the humor was real in this video, thank you for making my day better. hilarious at 15:22 i lost it ha
I'm so glad you kept that blooper real
You have to play the dubbed mode. It's infinitely more batshit than you could possibly imagine
this has to be The Room of video games, aiming for brilliance but missteps so hard it ends up as hilarious
Every upload is quality content, no matter the wait. Thank you brother.
Hello fellow underrated RUclipsr.
Love you man keep it up
Oddly enough, a video about something called "The Quiet Man" is one of the loudest things I've ever encountered..
Gangster #1 is the most memorable character in this game so far xD
1:07 that's not iceman... that's fucking lamplighter
This video, this piece of art
I love this
Goddamn... that Quantum Broke joke is SO good

YOUR BACK MAN! HAPPY CRUEL NEW YEAR! LETS CELEBRATE NOW !!
I live for Purposeless Rabbitholes' reaction to the parkour scenes
videos like these are why i love this channel
So I’m not the only person who remembers this train wreck
Just found your channel, love it.
"What is the team that the sports gangsters are a part of?"
... the Philadelphia Eagles, obviously.
Man I need to play it again it will be so good with acuall dialogue
People who have played it with the audio have said it still makes no sense.
The studio was quiet after this one... i’ll be here for the next 24 minutes.

I'm going to call Dane Mary sue
Fvcking finally, this day keeps gettin better
Fun fact when I was watching E3 and initially saw this game I shouted “Prototype 3?!” All excited before realizing it wasn’t prototype 3.
This is better
Than, Quarterback Attack with Mike Ditka
i bet the real story of this game is the audio got corrupted and they said “fuck it, make him deaf, they’ll never know”
