    low light and HDR are the most important for me... in the bright sun... any camera are similar... this is different in low light, you can see how much they spend in getting the lenses from Sony or any other companies... and of course lots of software engineering...

    Hi, thanks. I just got my 360 and will definitely follow your advice. Regarding ISO I was wondering if something like Auto ISO max 800 would be useful so the camera can decide which one to according to the available light?Advantage would be that you dont need to change that manually.

    Thank you, these settings work well! Just one thing to add regarding the 8K30 noise when shooting on auto in low light; the Insta 360 Studio software does a "good-enough" job denoising video. If no other options available, Insta 360 software is a decent fallback plan IMO (if you only use Insta 360 software in your workflow).

    • @GreatDayForAHike

    I see many creators are scared to do this review and share the settings, because the settings would be wildly different per creator. lol The do video comparisons but they're not sharing those settings, so I appreciate you being brave-- they're doing post-production cleanups I see. They're trying to say X4 is better than the ONE RS 1inch sensor and DJI Pocket Osmo 3 at night, which is complete nonsense. So, I appreciate you being brave here, but I'm certainly not using this at night while moving, which is why I have the ONE RS 1inch and DJI Pocket Osmo 3.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  5 месяцев назад +3

      Thank you for your feedback! Yes, with this footage I did not do any post production cleanup. No denoising, etc. Just a little bit of grading with the flat color profile which means adding a little contrast and color but not much since the footage is pretty limited with those aspects in 8-bit. The X4 is an incredible camera for 360 daylight filming and I love it for that, but yes, I certainly am not going to say it’s better than the ONE RS 1inch or Pocket 3 in low light 😂

    The footage at night isn't really usable unfortunately. I tried using the 360 X4 has a dash cam with the settings you suggested and it's way too dark, I compared it to the camera on my Samsung s 23 Plus and that provides a way brighter image, I just don't get the 360 feature. I'm at a loss with the insta360 because it's a dedicated $500 camera and doesn't do very well in low light.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  10 дней назад +1

      If you have it stationary mounted as a dash cam then you can tweak the settings to get better low light results. You should be able to do 8K, 24FPS and a shutter speed of 1/50 with an ISO Max of 800. Try that out. You should get much better results with those settings.
      The reason the shutter speed has to be faster when the camera is handheld is because the EIS requires a fast enough shutter speed to function properly. When the camera is mounted, such as in your use case, you should be able to use the settings above for great results.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  5 месяцев назад +1

      Great question. I own the X3 and love it. The biggest difference between the X3 and X4 is the 8K 360 footage. After reframing the 8K footage and exporting, the finished product has much detail and higher resolution than the 5.7K footage on the X3. In low lighting I find the X4 footage looks a bit better than the X3, but the difference is not huge since this camera is not designed to excel in low lighting anyway.

      @GreatDayForAHike Thanks for the quick reply. If we talk about in good lighting condition...Will they both perform similar, of course X4 will have little more edge due to 8K, however if we shoot something from X3 in Log mode and then readjust the colours...can we make footage little close to X4 ?

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  5 месяцев назад +1

      @devisback3698 Yes, overall I would say so since the sensor on the X4 appears to be the same as the X3, but the X4 has a more powerful chip to handle the 8K. Sensor size isn’t bigger vs the X3.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  4 месяца назад

      A modern smartphone with a good camera is still going to perform better than most action cameras. This is due too at smartphone cameras having optical image stabilization, which works better than electronic image stabilization in low light. Also, many smartphones have equal or larger sensors than most action cameras. Combine these two features/specs and smartphones will perform better.

      Small sensors can only do so much in low lighting, especially when working with electronic image stabilization which requires a fast enough shutter speed to work properly. That being said I don’t see Insta360 marketing the X4 as having good low light capabilities. For that, I see the Ace Pro or the 1-inch 360 camera still being the best. The X4 is solid in good lighting from my perspective of using the camera but in low light, there are better cameras for sure.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  4 месяца назад +1

      This is because the full 360 degree footage is in 8K. Once you reframe the highest you can export in is 4K. This is because reframing is taking just part of that overall 8K 360 video and exporting it as 4K in a 16:9 aspect ratio.

      I find 1/100 to have a bit too much jitter and ghosting. ISO 1600 or 3200 can be used but those ISO levels either have a lot of noise or the footage ends up a little too smooth/lack of detail for my liking.

    Good video, figured it would be manual mode, but the important thing for me was the 5.7K recomendation, glad to see it was not really valid/needed.
    It's obvious auto is trying to make the dark exposed to be bright instead of just letting it be dark and I think 5.7k would help get more light to the sensor and allow for a lower ISO to do that, but thats not what we want to do.
