    I have a 2017 Renegade trailhawk with HID factory headlights so my only option for replacement headlight bulbs is getting the original Phillips D5S which is what I have it in now which they are alright but I want brighter and whiter bulbs. OR the other option is Moromoto D5S XB? Is that the only options I have for my Rene? :( better bang for the buck my bulbs are $350 LOL which cost more then the original Phillips bulbs.

    I'm looking into doing another retrofit(last one was Mini H1 7.0) and this time I'm going with D2S bulbs and projectors so I'd like to clarify; I noticed at 1:20 Matt states the 5500K is "...knowingly the brightest...", but on the website it states ~3400 lumens for 5500K, and ~3500 lumens for 4500K. Which actually has more output, the 4500K or 5500K? I'm just trying to figure out what would be best for my 'output' build. Thanks in advance guys

    • @Eric2300jeep
      @Eric2300jeep 5 лет назад

      Between those two options, 4500K will give you the most output. You sacrifice performance for cooler color temp with the 5500K. If you want pure, raw output (most actual light on the road) a 4300K bulb will be your choice 😎

  • @artcore9886

    Is there really no choice of better bulbs for mini H1 7.0? I'm not really impressed by the XB bulbs that came with my mini H1 kit from TRS. I was told by TRS chat that there isn't really something i can do other than putting 50W ballast which isn't recommended. My hotspot and intensity is good but Now i'll have to rip them out and maybe put EvoR 2.0 or MLED's.

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  6 лет назад

      At this time, the best bulbs we know of in an H1 size are the Morimoto XB's - what is it that you're not happy about them? We're curious, just the intensity?

    • @artcore9886
      @artcore9886 6 лет назад

      I received Morimoto XB 4800K bulbs. Its just not as bright as i expected when lighting up the road. When there's something like a lexus or Infiniti with LED's or any newer car beside me on the road, they tend to overpower my lights. I sent pic to TRS after retrofit and they confirmed the hotspot and cutoff looks good. My biggest complaint with them is the step down on the driver side cutoff, it's killing me. Aim too high and i blind on coming drivers, aim just right and i can't see past 30 ft which is nothing when going 55+ mph. Mini H1's are on my Honda Odyssey and my other car is Infiniti M with fresnal lens and even so, it tends to throw light everywhere, far and wide. Overall i'm okay with Mini H1's for now but i'm def exploring my options to exhange for something else in couple of months. My current choices are M-LED (for intensitiy), RX350, or EVOR 2.0. Any recommendations.

    • @RetrofitSource

    Whats a good bulb for using an aftermarket headlight unit from like Anzo or GoRecon where the projector isn’t replaceable?

    • @VetteTTV12
      @VetteTTV12 5 лет назад

      I'm doing a retrofit on a set ANZO's currently and the Morimoto D2S 5.0 fit with very minor modifications (just had to slot the projector mounting holes). So if you seriously want to have a nice set of projectors then dont be afraid to open those housings!
      But to answer your question, HID's will burn the projectors in those because they're cheap garbage. Had a friend burn his up after 4months of use and the light scattered a bit making him get flashed by people. So don't put HIDs in them unless you want to risk it. And if you do, then the only bulbs available to you are the Morimoto sock specific bulbs like the H7, H11, H8, on so on.

      Not exactly. Due to its Kelvin rating it cant be road legal. 6000K is max for being legal in the US and many other countries. However, if they slap an "off road" sticker on there they can be sold. Also, like the guy says, these are closer to 5500k after fully warmed up so you should be fine.

    I'm much satisfied with the outcome of these Philips XV2 bulbs. They make the night driving like day driving and each one of my friends are equally surprised about it. It may be slighly on the lower side when it comes to 'styling' that's where the CBB definitely wins. But when it comes to performance, XV2 wins. It's being an under 5K range bulb makes it a ideal choice for both style + vision.

      We are fans of the OSRAM but they are very close.

    Hi. Look, I'm not saying you'rr not doing a good job, BUT, you don't do it right. You see, you measure lux just in one point, in the middle, why don't you test the bulbs in the sides? When I drive, I need to see everywhere, not just in a single spot. A bulb is a shit if its gonna have 900lux in the middle and 100lux in the right or left side, am I right? So, you're doing it wrong or you are paid by philips! This is my conclusion

      Petrut, you are correct here, and in many other videos where we're comparing the optics of different headlights or projectors, we do take measurements in various parts of the beam pattern. In this case though, if the bulb is brighter in the center, it would be proportionately brighter throughout the rest of the beam compared to the other options. Because of the fact that there are so many different OEM projectors/headlights, it wouldn't make sense to provide specific measurements throughout other parts of the beam since results can vary...but we are confident that relative to other bulbs, the XV2 Philips will out-perform them all around
