    For the functions:
    Beehive = hive mind
    Elephant = impressive mental capabilities either long term or lots of data
    Goldfish = opposite of above/short term memory
    Branch transfer = you get it. (Maybe used in conjunction with another menu option.)
    Lullaby = basic functions of job no interactions with others
    Freeze frame= paralyze (maybe leading to accidents….)
    Clean slate = wake up back at the table/no memories
    Glasgow = see Glasgow coma scale (GCM) level of consciousness following a brain injury
    Look man I need my Glasgow theory to be right 😃 love it when you guys recap the comment theories

    The tension build for this episode was fantastic. The aspects of their outie personality bleeding into/being the foundation of their innie is quite good. They did a great job of revealing a bunch of simple answers while also presenting even more wild questions. I have to say this is one of the most interesting shows I've seen recently, even more so than Raised By Wolves which I find compelling as well. Definitely looking forward to Season 2.
    Thing I want to see some more of in season two: Interpersonal interactions (Innie and Outie interactions).

    • @AsArt
      @AsArt  2 года назад +1

      You worded it perfectly: "Tension" is the word that best describes that episode!! I (John) loved it. :)
      I think you're also very correct: while Raised by Wolves is a fascinating show, that's a bit more 'spectacle'-based, perhaps...whereas this is just great questions, answers -- and the conversations that drive those things?
      We have you all to thank for guiding us to this show. :)

    Hellys dad is Jame Egan, you can see his wax statue in an earlier episode. I wonder if we could have some sort of mind transference happening…maybe kier just transplants his mind into all the new CEOs.

  • @TheRidg11
    @TheRidg11 2 года назад +5

    I think Kier Eagen is the board, its possible the re-evolution her dad mentions is somehow intergrating consciousness into a computer and Kier has already been through the process, that message Helly got when she completed her task was probably Kier actually talking to her as an AI

      It was a wonderful finale that left me (John) fully satisfied! It left us with a cliffhanger, but not one that felt cheap & gave us enough information to complete this as a 'finished' season. :) Can't wait for season 2, and we're glad you liked our conversation here! Definitely more to come on this show. ;)

    I hope they'll go all in with all the cult weirdness in season 2, when I started watching Severance I wasn't expecting all the cult stuff, it really adds another lovely layer of creepiness to the whole situation.

  • @methebee

    I felt that this is not Irv's first time being brought outside as his innie, it's like he is being reset everytime, and with each oppurtunity he gets he is adding more to his list

    • @dm9910
      @dm9910 2 года назад +3

      I agree he's been severed more than once - his innie shouldn't know about the testing floor elevator, so it must have been another version of him that saw that. But I think the investigation on the outside was definitely being done by his outie. The paintings too are an attempt to get a message to innie-Irv I think. The repetition of the exact same painting and song is designed to get it deep into his subconscious, and with late nights and coffee he's trying to make innie-Irv fall asleep, so that these subconscious memories will surface in his dreams.

    I've been given some thought to Helly being revealed as Helena Eagan and how she seemed not to be too thrilled about going through Severance, only doing it for PR and the whole theory of the Eagan family working on downloading consciousness from one person and uploading it in another body, which would basically grant immortality to a select few, perhaps Kier's and all the other Lumon CEO's and Eagan family members' consciousnesses have been downloaded, Jame Eagan mentioned the revolving to Helena, maybe it could mean he plans on taking over the body of Helena or some weird cult shit. And what my point is, well I'm starting to think that maybe Helena isn't as a clear cut antagonist for our innies as we might think, perhaps she's secretly working against her own family in the outside world.
    Can't wait for season 2, HYPE HYPE HYPE!

    • @dm9910
      @dm9910 2 года назад +2

      The transferring conscious theory is plausible, but I don't think Jame will be taking over Helena. Why would Helena put herself through severance just for the reward of sacrificing herself to become a vessel for her father's mind? Plus it would be difficult to keep it quiet since Helena is a celebrity in her own right, and Jame probably doesn't want a sex change either. I think if there is going to be transference, it'll be to an unwilling host (such as a Lumon employee).
      One reason to doubt this theory is that if you copy your mind and upload it to another body, it won't be you in the new body. You'll die, and someone else with your mind will get up and walk away but you won't experience that. I think an ideologue who cares more about their legacy than self-preservation could still potentially want to do this, though. Jame Eagan could certainly be the type, especially since he's old and so without much time left anyway.
      I think the "Keir's children" comment is a potential hint about a twist on the transference theory. Maybe when Keir died his brain was preserved and the plan is to copy his brain into many hosts. But it could also just refer to using severance + brainwashing techniques to create an army of Lumon slaves. Perhaps MDR's purpose is an experiment into different ways to exert control over severed people.

  • @tappajavittu
    @tappajavittu 2 года назад +3

    Them not showing Irv leave any kind of message for his outtie was kinda dumb, but the innies plan was to seek someone they think they can trust and tell everything and who does Irv trust? Burt and he found out where Burt lives so of course that would be the main thing on his mind. So all in all I think it was kinda realistic cause people do dumb things and don't think things through before acting on impulses.

    • @AsArt
      @AsArt  2 года назад

      Yeah, I'd like to think I'd be cool, calm, and collected under stress...but I think it's pretty common for people to freak out and not to what we think would be the 'logical' thing. Especially when it's something as mesmerizing as your true "alter ego"! Good points. :)

  • @anosharehan
    @anosharehan 2 года назад +4

    I think whoever will go back to Lumon for work would be sent to that elevator to go wherever it is it goes but Helly R. (innie) might be taken to the break room. It's also possible that Helly R. begins to feel guilty because it is her outie's fault and that makes her go even more rogue.

    • @AsArt
      @AsArt  2 года назад

      This is going to be very interesting to see, and of course will likely happen in pretty quick order at the beginning of Season 2...at least tidbits!

    • @8698gil

    I think the intro is super important the mark seems to be in like an experimentation jumpsuit in half (the maroon jumpsuit that he tiptoes around shown in claymation. We've seen the senators wife is severed so the building weve been watching is all devoted to research and development, mark is key cuz of Gemma, Irv because ptsd. or the other option is that the numbers since they all align with Kiers values that maybe there're trying to find the perfect "host" to implant a Kier chip into one day. those all the thoughts that came to mind watching lol, spread out over 5 comments

    She bypassed the code detectors. Wrote messages to herself back and forth everyday. She told the outie she finished the file at 2:30 pm. He outie wrote back saying, that’s weird there was a huge truck crash at 2:32 pm with such and such company, am I responsible?

    A question I have, and this is similar to the “I love you” computer program cartoon. If Milchik was only taking pictures of the group because Helly was now there, why didn’t others question it? Or did he normally photograph all new employees throughout the day?
    Also, I think that Petey quoting was organic. It didn’t matter which department Helly went into as long as it was a severed department. There’s numerous departments she could have joined but his absence made it easier as it seemed they were immediately aware Petey went rogue.

    • @AsArt

      I think taking photographs is pretty standard. They probably do it for PR to recruit new employees on the outside. Taking "happy" pictures to make it look like Lumon is a great place to work. They had a group photo with Petey in i t before Helly started working there.

      It was a very intense one, and as Nick had mentioned -- it was edited beautifully. If you haven't seen Westworld, Season 1 of that show is 'perhaps' my favorite season of content ever & has a killer & intense reveal at the end of it...but wow -- they kept the tension & information very high in this episode. I really felt like we were "in it" with the group trying to get glimpses of the answers to our [many!] questions!!

    I think the word scanners aren't real. In the Lexington letter, peg takes a coded note on a reciept from a store with presumably regular writing on it. She also took this in after they were upgraded and then came back 10 minutes later with another note. Not to mention, milchik would've know that Dylan didn't take the card home if the scanners were real or at the very least, nowhere as good as they act like they are

      I (John) hadn't even considered that the entire town might be "off"...but maybe that's just because we've had so few interactions with the outside community. The few we've seen thus far -- a number of them definitely are quite like you mentioned! Mark's sister does seem 'normal' though (her husband...yeah he's definitely 'unique'!). ;)

      The only people I've seen act that way are Rickon's friends, and that's easy to explain. They are Rickon's groupie fans. They are morons, the kind of people who "hang on" to anyone they think is famous or important in some way. Smarter people would not be fans of Rickon's book.

    • @dm9910
      @dm9910 2 года назад

      I think the dinner/party weirdness is explained by the fact that Ricken is a bit of a quack and his friends are people who were dim enough to have found his book a work of genius. Devon seems pretty sharp so if your theory is true, you need some explanation for why she's not also affected.

    • @8698gil
      @8698gil 2 года назад

      @@dm9910 I can only think that Devon wanted a child and she was getting older and running out of time, maybe her options were limited. Or maybe she just really does like Rickon, maybe she sort of has a mothering protective instinct about him.

    S2: Helley R outie ends up helping Innie Helley after the Overtime Hijack outburst. Wakes up Helley R outie to some truths she may not be aware of despite her position in thr company (in the family). As culty as her dad was, i could see Helley R being groomed from childhood by her father to be the one to enact this part of theil Kier (sp?) Grand Plan.

    its helly not haley, not that it matters ha.. I think they made "I found the baby guy" and honestly all the people we've met in the town except Rickon and marks sister intentionally seem almost like the severed workers while at work. the dinner party they are all weird, and the audience at the reading is super weird. Rebek (notable because it is a shortened name like our innie workers (helly helena, mark Marcus, irv Irving, **peg Margaret and that one comes from the Lexington letter** innie, Burt Bertram, not sure on dylan) says I need to change my name again. I think they did this to leave their options open for the writing, especially since they live in the town of Kiehr, to have a big reval about the town being completely severed or something later.. or maybe its even planned already
