According to the Indian navy they are only available 40% of the time. They are so fed up with them that they are now looking at Rafale M and Super Hornet to partially replace and augment them. They are producing an indigenous alternative somewhere in near the end of this decade. Even Russia didn't use them on their carrier much as they preferred the Su 33.

With all due respect, it could very well be that the Indian personnel who are simply too undertrained to be able to keep the MiGs flying.
The Egyptian Air Force loves its MiG-29M2s. There was one fatal crash early on in the type’s deployment with the EAF, but that appears to have been an isolated case, and the MiG-29M2 has quickly earned itself a position of importance in the EAF’s lineup. Incidentally, the EAF also loves its Rafales, despite also have one fatal crash early in that type’s EAF career. With the Rafale and MiG-29M2 flying side-by-side, the EAF entered a true golden age for its fighter arm.

Heresay means nothing. A Mig-29 is far easier to maintain than any western fighter.

@@Slaktrax sure Ivan a downtime of 60% doesn't mean a thing. In reality it means you need three aircraft for every western counterpart to do the same amount of missions.

@@GMAPdotNL according to everyone's stats. It was an aircraft useful for the USSR with four aircraft for every western counterpart. But for other countries it is a maintenance nightmare especially when considering the lack of spares.

@@Slaktrax Alright, alright dude record speak for itself. Russian jets gets clobbered all the time and it is not even about training since Russian get none. I bet you love your highly modern Russian made car, computer or any other world renown modern Russian made tech. Stfu.
Also using upgraded version of mig against initial flights of F-15 and F-16 is just amazing piece of propaganda. Typical Russian bs. Wouldn't really matter considering Russian jets never registered win versus F-15 while loosing 105 jets. We are talking about low of the lowest performance. Flying coffin. Only Russian can come up with garbage like that./
