    This game has so many layers to it that I keep learning new stuff and every so often this along with my OCDnD (I've had this affliction for decades, I got infected so far back I remember the 2nd edition being released as a teen.) I have to respect my character sometimes changing multiple feats and sometimes completely changing things up with a new class. That's one of my favorite things about this game, being able to play it for a while as an Elemental Rampager druid, a classic universalist wizard and finally settling upon a roguish knife master. I know I could be biting them over and over but I enjoy the knife master character type.

      Yes! The deep system with all the customization options is one of my favorite things about Pathfinder and also the D&D games.
      All these choices for character progression, and then getting to customize not only your main character but also all the other party members!
      It's a game that can last for a very long time, that's for sure! Amazing replay value too.

    I find it hard to stack metal curse, evil eye and hampering hex for maximized ac penalties, it takes 3 rounds to inflict those 3 hexes to begin with and bosses on hard/unfair tend to make successful saves against hampering. Flame curse is arguably a worthy choice if you have a fire dmg spellcaster.

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  2 года назад +2

      Yeah, it can be a bit troublesome to stack them all, I just mention them as ways of how to debuff the enemy to the max.

    Тhe one thing I don't get is why so many people ignore sylvan trickster. IMHO this is one of the best rogue architypes, aside from rowdy. On first glance it looks like hexes don't have much synegry with rogue stuff, but practically speaking they are quite amazing. In short, if the situation is really bad for melee engage, a regular rogue will have to stand back and probably shoot with a bow, doing nothing. However a sylvan trickster can always stay back and provide crazy support with hexes. Not to mention that evil eye + debilitating injury is such a huge differential that sylvan trickster becomes a character with higher chance to hit than a full BaB class... Not to mention the iceplant ring combo at the beginning making you a tank... I could be wrong on this one, but I rolled my Camellia as a sylvan trickster on hard difficulty and she was stomping everything.... And your MC could be much better optimized than Camellia for that role... Imagine your Nenio giving a sylvan trickster improved invis. The rogue goes with evil eye and debilitating injury, this is -12 to enemy AC, while attacking flat - footed AC... You will hit EVERY single time...

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  3 года назад

      Thank you for the Sylvan Trickster tip.
      It can certainly be a strong class choice considering how great Hexes are. Same for Rowdy for Vital Strike shenanigans.
      Debiliting Injury + Evil Eye/Hampering Hex do indeed sound very tasty!

    • @zyfryth
      @zyfryth 3 года назад

      @@cRPGBro I can't twist my soul. Rowdy rogue is much stronger, but that is in the early game. I find vital strike to be kinda lacking late-game. Best case scenario you one shot one target, but enemies are swarming you... Considering you have like 5000 buffs you can one or twoshot enemies anyway, so regular attacks tend to give you more value late game. But also, a rogue gets as many feats as a fighter. So you can actually get vital strike at level 6. But in all honesty I would just pair sylvan trickster with another melee class and abuse seize the moment/outflank with fortune hex. Once the crit chain starts... Well you know the rest :D

    I had five 20 20 enemy attack rolls, three of which of course rolled a 20 for a critical confirmation that killed my tank during the Drezen siege. I don't know the odds of that happening but god I was slightly tilted by time I got to Joran Vhane.

    • @Shadraen1
      @Shadraen1 3 года назад +2

      Probably due to random number generators on computers not being truly random and far from perfect. They are about as good as we can get. I've been playing pen and paper RPGs for almost 30 years... twice I've seen characters roll 5 natural 20s in a row. Once was me against a goblin of all things (we fought a troll earlier and wish I had rolled it then), and again by a GM who was playing a player character as an NPC for a character who couldn't be there that session.

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  3 года назад

      Yeah, sometimes it does feel like that, but in the end it's probably because of how many enemy rolls you get during the game.
      At the very least, you can highly shift the dice in your favor with Hexes.

    • @Fafix666
      @Fafix666 2 года назад

      Try to get a class that provides you with Fortification early on. My current playthrough is: 6 Mutation Warrior, 6 Vivisectionist, 8 Aldori Swordlord. She got Fortification at level 11, but I'm pretty sure you can get it earlier. Alchemists should be able to get it relatively early from their discoveries, and up to 75%, too! And then you can always play a Trickster, get a Wizard spell book with Ice, Fiery, Metal etc. Body spell, which makes you straight immune to crits.
      PS. This is basically a Witcher build.

      @27182818284590452354 Год назад

      @@Shadraen1 The fact that streaks of 20s can happen is an argument for how well the randomization is implemented.
      With a truely random system it's possible for the game to get 20 on every single roll in the game. Extremely improbable, but entirely possible.
      It's when you never see streaks of good or bad luck you know the randomness was tempered with, usually to make it feel more fair.

    Crazy I had no experience but just by looking at the 2 characters in question I picked the very same luck buffs that you present here... I was a bit disappointed on the Time-duration of them however. I like that you found a loophole to change that but I have to wonder if the developers intended for it to be played this way or is just something they need to fix.... hm. :)
    I wouldnt want to abuse something that will get changed in the future , I guess.

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  2 года назад

      It can be hard to guess if it's an oversight or really intended.
      But as it is, I don't think the devs care much for mechanics working in ways like that, unless it is a bug. I could be wrong, though!
      Fortune Hex + Protective Luck not being extendable would surely sharply reduce their usefulness, though.
      But starting from level 8-16 when they last for 2-3 rounds, you'd still be able to prebuff with them before certain tough battles and often 1 round is enough to defeat enemies even on Unfair after a certain point.

      @@cRPGBro Yea.... its definitely very annoying to use one of the important characters in 1 round to do a buff or debuff... then pretty much you are done for that round, cant attack or do other skill. @@cRPGBro In the tabletop rules, there's a ruling from Paizo that stacking duration with cackle is incorrect; it's in the FAQ for the Advanced Player's Guide if you're curious. You can only benefit from cackle once per round but during that time the effects also expire by one round, so the cackle is maintaining the duration while still letting you cast a hex with your standard action. In Owlcat's engine I think an additional issue beyond the turn-based action economy (not just with cackling but actually with effects in general) is that out-of-combat actions don't strictly follow the 6 seconds per round rule.
