*****, you'd be surprised at how many people nowadays don't understand "without victory there can be no survival." Just because you have common sense doesn't mean the general population does. Yet, I do get and understand your general point.
He isn't referring to losing in battle. He is referring to the fact that the Vanduul are sacking every planet they get. The Senate's philosophy is "Oh, it's just a raid; we lost a system, big deal. It's just a rim world, it's not like we are at war or anything." Bishop's point is "No, we ARE at war. You may think the Vanduul trivial, BUT THEY ARE WINNING. They literally just massacred another planet (now gaining access to core systems), and you want to hide? If we don't defeat them, none of us will survive. Not even the core worlds." This mimicks the US's ideas of isolationism during world war II. At the time, Germany and Japan were so far away, they could hardly touch us. We were safe... No we F*ing weren't, we were merely lower down on the chopping block. We could sit and burry our heads, but sooner or later, Germany and Japan would come for us. Whether that be before our allies fall or after meant no difference. That wasn't an easy pill for the US to swallow either, and it took the bombing of Pearl Harbor (similar to Vega II) to convince us that this war did involve us. Imagine this speech right after Pearl Harbor, in congress. In the midst of stubborn politicians who would easily write off even Pearl Harbor as some trivial skirmish.
OK, I just found and listening to the Infamy Speech, HIGHLY recommended you check it out, if you haven't already. It's pretty short, but I find it pure epicness that is an actual historical speech that finally united even the issolationists in opposition to Japan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infamy_Speech In comparison, Bishop's speech is pretty darned epic too, if fictional.
+DrunkardCow, Remember that this is real-time rendering, and by that standard it's probably the best facial animation tech out there right now. On their facial animation tech video however they also showcased a pre-rendered character (which you typically see in most AAA-titles) just to show what the tech is capable of and it was almost impossible to distinguish her from a real person. Unfortunately current computer hardware isn't powerful enough to deal with all that on top of all the other features Star Citizen and Squadron 42 are bringing in like procedural damage, full-scale 1:1 procedural planets, extremely high texture quality (up to 16k), extremely advanced physics simulations, including local physics grids, etc. etc.
bet you all feel pretty silly now huh. this thing isn't happening till like 2020 lmao. don't know what made them put 2016 on there but they clearly weren't thinking straight.
I've noticed that the colored bars on his chest seem quite similar to those on the chests of the imperial officers from Star Wars. Also the fact that their money is in credits. Maybe someone on the dev team might a Star Wars fan.

"2016" Who's watching a year after release? But i do hope that when i graduate college in 2021 that this game is finally here. It's gonna be great, and I'll be sure as hell happy i paid for it in 2013 as a kid. I bought in when all the pre order perks were mostly there, so having all those benefits on release is going to be a welcome surprise.
+DrunkardCow Jesus, Cow, talk about being a naysayer. I'm happy that you're a skeptic but you don't have to come down into the comments and ruin the mood.
If it were not running in real time, some graphics would indeed have been improved. It is made so every player can render cutscenes in realtime, potentially with their own character design in it. That is usually the reason to do so. To be able to modify the cutscenes in slight ways that that increase the overall immersion and do not make you feel as if you are playing in one straight line that you cannot deviate from.
Exited for Star Citizen, even though I'm not going to get it. My PC rig is nowhere near up to specs for this title - but it... it's an inspiring game indeed.
+Dan Author Start saving your pennies. By the time it comes out you'll most likely be able to get a gtx950ti(if they make one) for the cheap cheap. I just bought a 750ti for my "console" PC so I can play Project Cars and Assetto Corsa, the crew, DBZ Xenoverse, Arkham City, etc. It runs those games on ultra/high mix at 40-60fps, and on an old phenom II 955 processor.
Keihryon HAHAHAHAHAHHAAaaaa.... yeaaahhhhh I don't think my budget allows that. Not only do I not have the cards, I don't think my computer has the RAM or processing power to rally run much of anything. I already blew all of my spending money for awhile on an Xbox One so that I can play Fallout 4 - so all the saved pennies, they're probably going to go to college and housing at this point. Thanks for the advice though, I'm glad that your RIG is awesome and I'm hoping that I win the lotto so I can join the ranks of awesomeness. :)
Nah, that rig isn't awesome, just low budget. It was built out of spare parts, or older parts, as I upgraded my primary system. RAM is cheap as dirt now. You can actually build a computer for cheaper than you can a console right now, if you already have certain things, like the OS, keyboard, monitor, case, dvdplayer, etc. You should've upgraded your rig for fallout 4 instead of buying the xbox, xbox version doesn't get the mod community Seriously, check out nexusmods(dot)com. but..either way, hope your happy with your purchase, because thats really all that matters.
When I bought this in 2014, I expected 2020 to 2022 for SQ42 and 2022 to 2024 for MMO completion. Looks about right so far. I don't know why so many hate on the dev time, sure mistakes are made but when viewed in context red dead redemption 2 took 8 years, had 3 times the budget and twice the staff so I would say they were doing fairly well with half the staff, a third of that budget, and developing two titles simultaneously.
a AAA game cost around 100-500 mils and usually take around 3-5years. dont know what you guys are flipping shits for. I mean we get a cod every year because activision have rotating studioes.
+Xiu “Pandapool” Greyson It much when you have no middle man, yes then it is a whole lot. They have no middle man. COD, BF and those other great games all have middle men that need a lof of payment as well, but not Robert.
You get CoD every year because you get the same game every time. Same with every Sims game. Every Fifa game. Every everything EA is putting out. There was never a game like Star Citizen before. And they are making it from ground up. Development started only 4 years ago.

SPACECRUISER96 it dosen't take "too much time" realy. it is by any means actually developing realy fast for a AAA new IP game. a studio lien rockstar took over 20years of modifications on their engine and 3 games (which are, code wise, almost the same) to acheive the level of detail GTA 5 has. SC and sq42 is a new IP, with a new engine. so no, them taking 8/9 years to develop is far from too much.

It's pretty short, but I find it pure epicness that is an actual historical speech that finally united even the issolationists in opposition to Japan.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infamy_Speech
In comparison, Bishop's speech is pretty darned epic too, if fictional.
Makes me think of his range. Him in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and back when he played Dracula as the old man.
That is some impressive face motioncap
+Jaroslav Dolejší Is it? By what standards?
By the standards of seeing all the other face motioncaps he's come across?
what's your point
+DrunkardCow, Remember that this is real-time rendering, and by that standard it's probably the best facial animation tech out there right now. On their facial animation tech video however they also showcased a pre-rendered character (which you typically see in most AAA-titles) just to show what the tech is capable of and it was almost impossible to distinguish her from a real person.
Unfortunately current computer hardware isn't powerful enough to deal with all that on top of all the other features Star Citizen and Squadron 42 are bringing in like procedural damage, full-scale 1:1 procedural planets, extremely high texture quality (up to 16k), extremely advanced physics simulations, including local physics grids, etc. etc.
its actually gotten way better now too, crazy
Gary Oldman needs to do that speech again...
This did not age very well
Anyone else notice how the medals on the left of his jacket look a lot like the same medals imperial officers wear in Star Wars ?
Those facial animations, ugh, so good. Can't wait for many more hours of this.
sarcasm?
Not at all, the tech they're using is quite good, they did an excellent job. In-engine animations of this quality are few and far between.
+Evan Hocking eye looks off to me lifeless but the rest is excellent.
Uncanny Valley, thus far is an insurmountable obstacle, but this is getting damn close.
Keep waiting lol
Can't believe this coming coming out in less than a month! So hyped!
What? It isn't it's been a 2017 thing for a while now.
T0YB0X No offense, but it literally says "2016" at the end of the vid. Maybe you didn't watch the whole way through?
Go here robertsspaceindustries.com/squadron42
Scroll down to the bottom of the page "2017."
CIG said it got delayed.
to be honest maybe not even 2017
bet you all feel pretty silly now huh. this thing isn't happening till like 2020 lmao. don't know what made them put 2016 on there but they clearly weren't thinking straight.
admiral Bishop: because he can take it. he is the dark knight.
I've noticed that the colored bars on his chest seem quite similar to those on the chests of the imperial officers from Star Wars. Also the fact that their money is in credits. Maybe someone on the dev team might a Star Wars fan.
+Christopher Kimson yup his name is Chris Roberts.
+Django Lowe (Jirou) no no no no no. thats called the entire dev team. and you can say that for most sci fi franchises because the CIG team is a group of geeks and nerds
CIG. You will never find wretched hive of geeks and nerdity
Django Lowe You forgot the "a more" between find and wretched. *pushes glasses up nose*
Fucking amazing cast this will be awesome
i can just imagine the increase in pirates boarding bengal carriers in the month before pitchfork......
Soundtrack is amazing!!!
I think it’s a little late
Anyone see the Darkest Hour trailer, with Gary Oldman playing Winston Churchill, shouting at parliament that "Without VICTORY there can be no SURVIVAL!"? Gave me some bad deja vu, bugged me all day.
😬
@@josephfagan8697 Paid for it as a kid, might be able to play it as an old man after using up all his retirement savings on a mid range video card.
2022 not release yet.
Such a talented actor just to say such absolute waffle
This trailer is running in real time by the way
+Isaac Hartley-Hall And you can tell that by what exactly?
DrunkardCow they stated in their making of video that all cut scenes are running in real time
Isaac Hartley-Hall Just because they say so? Well, feel free to believe everything you been told... but I choose not to for time being...
+DrunkardCow
Jesus, Cow, talk about being a naysayer.
1:49 lmao nice audio edit there. IM TALKING NORMALLY ANDTHENISUDDENLYSPEEDUP
Exited for Star Citizen, even though I'm not going to get it. My PC rig is nowhere near up to specs for this title - but it... it's an inspiring game indeed.
+Dan Author You've still got a year for upgrades, at the very least. :)
Mike Nerone
But I don't have the $$$ for upgrades :(
Unless you want to make a significant donation :D
+Dan Author Start saving your pennies. By the time it comes out you'll most likely be able to get a gtx950ti(if they make one) for the cheap cheap. I just bought a 750ti for my "console" PC so I can play Project Cars and Assetto Corsa, the crew, DBZ Xenoverse, Arkham City, etc. It runs those games on ultra/high mix at 40-60fps, and on an old phenom II 955 processor.
Keihryon
HAHAHAHAHAHHAAaaaa.... yeaaahhhhh I don't think my budget allows that.
You should've upgraded your rig for fallout 4 instead of buying the xbox, xbox version doesn't get the mod community
Seriously, check out nexusmods(dot)com.
but..either way, hope your happy with your purchase, because thats really all that matters.
Aaaaany day now
This game is so past deadline this doesn't even look like Gary Oldman anymore.
@@Nine-Signs Does it still look about right?
a AAA game cost around 100-500 mils and usually take around 3-5years. dont know what you guys are flipping shits for. I mean we get a cod every year because activision have rotating studioes.
Vincent Desrosiers I am counting marketing yes and 91 mil seems alot but its really not.
+Vincent Desrosiers why is it a movie? please entertain me with your answer.
+Xiu “Pandapool” Greyson It much when you have no middle man, yes then it is a whole lot.
They have no middle man.
COD, BF and those other great games all have middle men that need a lof of payment as well, but not Robert.
+Sir Derpington isnt the only reason(rotating studioes). They do all time the same too.
You get CoD every year because you get the same game every time. Same with every Sims game. Every Fifa game. Every everything EA is putting out.
There was never a game like Star Citizen before. And they are making it from ground up. Development started only 4 years ago.
winston churchill looks so differently...
I cant wait to show my dad this with Oculus Rifft.
The guy looks very much like Gary Oldman.
I don't understand why everyone is complaining about his voice. I thought it sounded pretty damn good for the situation.
His voice does not fit the character's apparent physical age. CR could not even get that right. Not saying that the voice acting is bad, it's just the model does not fit the voice. Not that it matters anymore, today, 2023.
8 years
I don't think this is supposed to classify as the "Star Citizen Official Trailer"
2022 - Still waiting for the release of Squadron but looking at this masterpiece always gives me goosebump, cant wait just hope they put all the time it is needed
You're gonna keep waiting
We are at long last in Polish. The game is feature complete.
Hold the line.
We are in for the greatest game in the history of mankind.
That will never be realised
@@andreiiiksavvv6054 I mean if man ever goes extinct there will be an arguable "best"
Still not released lol

The Vandul won
just awesome!
I like his voice!
I wonder when Pedro is going to put up the back ground music for this. :D
The game takes so much time that I decided to creat the Star Citizen universe on Stellaris in order to feel the UEE
@@mobiuscoreindustries ok
The uncanny valley is strong.
"2016"
GLORIOUS 60FPS CINEMATICS
What is the name and composer of that music in the background, it sounds amazing!
I can't wait :D
Impressive, just impressive.
can't wait very interested
RIP Gary.
i like the Churchill referance at the end of the speech XD
His expression during the whole thing is hilarious
