Nice video, i actually stopped buying break barrels once i was intruded to fixed barrel springers.. But this one would be an exception !!!😁 My HW97K in .22 tuned with a PG3 HO spring kit is still KING hitting acorns at 95-100 yards !!! My RWS guns are no Slouches either ...
I ended up converting all but a few of my Air piston guns to spring piston. In my opinion a good quality mechanical springs will outlast an air piston and shoot just as well. I have springers from the mid 80s that are still using the same mainspring. No way have my air pistons would ever get that kind of track record. One rarely gets a warning sign that their air piston is going bad. It just quits working. I do have one air piston rifle (Beeman Crow Magnum) that has been reliable. Most likely due to me releasing the bar pressure in the piston, so it can shoot fairly nice groups.
I'm an old fart who was there when it happened so it's story time, kids. This rifle was developed on request and in partnership with Beeman back when the company was still family owned. It was originally designed in .177 for Olympic Running Boar competition (that shooting discipline has since been dropped from the Olympics). The gun was built by Weirauch and sold by Weirauch as the HW98 and by Beeman as the R11. The blueing on these is spectacular but fragile. Wiping down the entire exterior with a silicone cloth and wrapping the cloth around any parts of the barrel that will rest against anything while in storage is advised. Beeman recommended using cleaning pellets (three per shot) rather than putting any rods or ropes through the barrel. The rifle has been changed slightly several times over the years and I don't believe the new ones are quite as accurate now as they were back when the rifle was meant for the Olympics - still excellent, but not magical. I bought a Beeman R11 new in 1995 and it still shoots lights out. Not one hole groups but same hole groups. An artillery hold, high quality pellets, a pellet sizer and a pellet seating tool will all contribute to best accuracy. I am a huge trigger snob and I tell you that the Rekord unit on these rifles is the best trigger ever created by mankind.
Hello Sir, Thankyou for your information, it was a real interesting read. May I ask Sir, how would you say the HW98 compares to the HW80? I always thought that general opinion said the HW80 was the best break barrel. Thankyou.
Thank you. If you use the link in the decription. I will make 5%. You may also want to wait for the Walnut .177 TX200 I am doing in 2 weeks. It's supposed to be very accurate. Thanks for watching! -Nate
Hay Nate! Great job on all the spring break barrel reviews. The Vortek product Co, in Michigan sells tune kits for the German spring rifles and some of the clones made by China.. These tune kits greatly decrease the recoil and make a better shooting experience and accuracy. The Ruger Air Magnum is a clone of the Diana 350 magnum. The Ruger at $200 plus the $95 kit, I now have an awesome accurate spring rifle with an awesome trigger too!
Hi Nate,a big hello from the UK baby, love your channel man, some people are being a bit hard on the rifle, but that's one of the best break barrel air rifles ever made in my opinion, it will last a lifetime with very little maintenance and I can assure anyone who may not see the quality of such a rifle that it's more than capable of being just as accurate as a PCP airgun with some practice, and the endless hours of service can be so rewarding and a gun for life and something to be proud of in my humble opinion, great video nice to see a springer for a change great shooting BTW atvb Dave
It's fun to own PCPs but much more satisfying and challenging to shoot close groups with break barrels. With your short practice with this HW you have proven that a quality springer can do this.
@@AirgunChannel If you can shoot a springer, you can shoot a PCP. Not the other way. I was tired to shoot bankrest with my FWB 300S and Diana 75 because i already knew the results. My new challenge was shooting standing and om my knee. Thats a whole different thing😉Cheers!
The recoiless Diana's are bonkers. They are a big magnum springer that behave like a PCP. They are a bit finicky, it took many different mods and tweaks to get mine to perform the way I wanted it to, but they are quite rewarding. My mods were to shorten the spring to around 265mm. These things are oversprung imo. Also put a TBT kit in. That took it from around 24fpe to 21fpe with far nicer shot cycle and cocking stroke. I added thin washers (sold as mudguard washers) to the stack of washers where the stock screws are. This allows stock screws to be torqued down more without the action rubbing in the stock. I also got the barrel threaded, and replaced the barrel sleeve with carbon fibre tube. These things are very loud out of the box and mine had me raided by armed police, so now the Donny FL silencer never leaves it. It has a real "thwack!" because of the action, but no muzzle report to travel and scare the Karens or the critters. There are many modifications done to these things. You'll love the TX200, totally different experience to an HW. They feel very smooth and refined and out of the box there's no twang. They develop twang over time, if it bothers you then put a delrin spring guide in. The TX200 and Prosport are probably the easiest springers to work on ever. You can have the guts out of them in about 2 minutes. They are much less hold sensitive than something like an HW97. The 97s reputation is well deserved, but it's less refined and definitely more difficult to shoot well. In the hands of the right shooter, especially tuned, it's neck and neck in terms of accuracy though. But Air Arms take things to an almost absurd level with their finishing and quality control. Apparently they order the highest grade Lothar Walther barrels, then proceed to grade them themselves, discarding those that don't make the cut, then they do a whole lot of finishing work on them, recrowning, polishing, work to the lead in ect. An Air Arms springer is an investment if looked after. Who knows how much longer a springer of this level of quality can be produced? They keep going up in price and it's only a small company making them.
Now that is the type of gun I like to shoot! Not boring, you get a great sound & some recoil/feedback. I'd have one of these over any PCP, no matter how much the PCP cost. I really dig springers! Great video.
my hw98(.177) has had the spring guides replaced with delrin guides, this has tamed down the recoil ,so much that i can shoot 20mm groups at 35yds.and with a weirauch moderator fitted its almost as quiet as a pcp.brilliant gun for not a lot of money.nice review too!
I often shoot 25mm groups at 65 yards with just about any break barrel gun, and not off a bag. The scope has to work well, and then it is all about the hold. Bottom line, zero force on the stock is needed, and that includes cheek and shoulder. If you can hold it steady,--figure out how to shoot with out touching the gun. Your 35 yard groups will become your 70 yard groups. I wish there was a national competition for break barrels were you can win money. I would take the YT testers money all day long, with any gun.
That gun looks better than any other when a moderator is installed. It is def of the rate of accu. Right at the border of what is medium and heavy to me. One Fine break barrel. Thanks for showing.
I have one of these in ..177, its a UK sub 12. I buttoned the piston and changed the seal and the spring. It was a bit twangy out of the box. The accuracy of this rifle has to be seen to be believed. I can consitently hit a hanging gold ball @ 60 yards. I also have a Gin-B special stcok for mine. Expensive rifle, but full of quality. The best pellets for mine are the JSB Exact Express, closely followed by JSB Exact Diabolo 8.44 grs.
Tanks for your review 👍The HW98 is in my opinion the best break barrel on the market. I have mine, also in .22, for two years now and if you get used to the rifle and use the artillery hold you can shoot hole in hole on 25 meters. No PCP needed to get these results. The Minelli stock is just great. I prefer the more heavy 98 with the extra barrel sleeve above the 95. The only difference between the 95 and 98 is the extra barrel sleeve and the different stock. Beware that the 98 is made to use a scope only. No open sights on the 98. Yes, the 98 is more expensive but worth every penny. That fixed barrel air rifles with side or under lever are more accurate is in this case not true. I have also the HW97 and i shoot the same tight groups with the 98 as i do with the 97. Cheers!
The Walther LGV is an awesome break barrel as well, I've got one and it's just awesome straight out the box. I don't really shoot it much anymore cos I'm in love with my hw99s, I just love the weight, how it shoots, everything. I bought it 2nd hand for £160 with a scope, I've spent about £500 on it for tuning and a custom stock, don't regret spending a penny of it. I've got an old mark1 hw97k as well shoots nice but I think hasn't been serviced since new so needs a little attention. I've never shot a hw98 but shot just about all the other weihrauch air rifles, all excellent, hw90 probably my least favourite.
Nice review. No doubt a precision rifle and worth the price. (As someone commented, a single piece scope mount is preferred on a springer to avoid scope creep.) At 70-years old, I have over two hundred air rifles in my ever-growing collection, a mixture of break barrels, fixed barrels and PCPs, of various makes and models and calibers: 177, .22, .25 and .30 caliber. In my opinion, unless you're shooting in a competition, there is no challenge shooting an expensive air rifle. Don't get me wrong, shooting a top-quality air rifle is enjoyable, and I have a few. And I do prefer open sights up to 40 yards. (I'm not too thrilled about using fiber optic sights.) Saying that, as a machinist by trade (now retired) the fun is taking a piece of junk and making it a tack driver. For any spring powered air rifle, its theoretical maximum power is limited to the cubic inch displacement of the bore and stroke of the piston and the stored energy of the spring. The next challenge is finding the right pellet for a particular rifle, or I should say a particular barrel's twist rate and length. The design or shape of the pellet works best at a certain speed, at a certain twist rate, which affects accuracy, especially at long range. I live in a rural area, not too far from a meat packing plant, and it has attracted a large crow population. Shooting crows is difficult, since they are easily spooked, and so it requires long range shooting, usually around 100 yards or more. And so, for crow hunting I prefer a scope-mounted PCP in .25 caliber. I bought the Avenger in .25 for that purpose, since it has an external adjustable regulator.
The rings you are using are made for pcps, on a powerfull springer your best bet would be a one piece mount with a stopping pin. Otherwise the scope will creep back, accuracy will be affected, and the scope will be at risk (but you are using a springer rated scope so no much worry about your scope braking). Excellent rifle though.
@@ACshinealight a lot of people have had problems with it being totally inaccurate, me included. I found mine needs loose fitting pellets otherwise it sprays them out in 6 inch groups. I can take tight fitting pellets, push them right through the breach which makes them loose, then load and fire them and they are perfectly accurate. Possibly there's an alignment issue or the barrel is too tight. It's just damn annoying but JSB Exacts seem to be working straight out the tin.
The 98 doesn’t have an “anti-bear trap.” The TX200, Diana 48/52 & 54, and Walther LGU all do, though. They are designed to keep your fingers safe while inside of the loading breech. Another bit of trivia is that the 98 is basically a 95 with a barrel sleeve and fancy stock. I dropped my 98 .20 into a custom CS stock and a spare 95 .177 into the leftover 98 stock. It’s actually so nice in that stock with the lighter barrel. Makes a great field gun with the lighter weight.
Please friend don’t rely on safety catches or assume they will work, releasing the trigger with the barrel un-held in the down position is a big no no regardless whether the safety catch has popped out. 👍
Weihrauch HW97- and driving a TR7, too cool! For me it's an '81 jeep cj5 and my trusty Benjamin 1500 XL. And my Hatsan Proxima when I'm not replacing it's gas rams. (It's a Hatsan thing apparently). Love it when it works tho, 14 shot magazines!
You probably know all this already but in case, if it was mine. I'd get a slightly lower one piece scope mount, with an arrestor stud. Mount it up with the stud in one of the arrestor holes and you'll be golden. Springers are harder on scopes than even firearms. Back when the cross hairs were wire they used to snap them regularly. Springers have what they refer to as two way recoil, you've got yourself the best break barrel in the world IMO. Hold it loosely and let it do its thing! Sorry for the lecture but I grew up shooting them, it's all we had. I'm from UK, Scotland and now here we can't even own one that produces just under 12ft/lbs at the muzzle (16 joules) without going through the same licencing process as a Shotgun. You can still own one in England without a licence but not in Scotland. We live in a Nanny state and it makes me sad. TX 200s are just very good refined copies of HW 97Ks, they come with beautiful walnut stocks, if you pay extra but I don't like their anti bear trap set up and pressing the catch/button every time you load. For me I'd get a 97K with the beech thumbhole stock, for a fixed barrel.
My .177 HW98 laminate is no.65. I had to send it off to ARC tuning in the UK as it was awful to shoot from new, even the trigger group was unsuitable for accurate target shooting. Weihrauch really should do better with such an expensive premium air rifle. They ought to atleast make the internal parts fit properly with proper lubrication plus spend a little bit of time polishing the sears and setting up the trigger for a smooth target let off so all the end user has to do if they want is tweek the weight adjustment screw.
That HW98 looks really nice 👍. I don't have the HW98, but I do have the HW80 22, HW95 Luxus 22, HW77 22 and HW30s 177. These rifles are amazingly accurate and extremely fun.
I also have a HW80, I've had it for over 30 years and still love it... It does however need a little TLC now but nothing that will stop me shooting it. I might save up for this new one though after this review.
@@AirgunChannel The JSB Exact Jumbo 5,52 15.89 gr. works excellent in the 98. Hole in hole on 25 meters. The Hades are very good but always a bit less accurate because of the head shape. I never tried other brands because here was in my case no need for that. The H&N field target trophy will also be worth a try. I have to say that my 98 has the full length barrel, that could make som difference. Your barrel is shorter.
@@AirgunChanneldo you think you need a vortek kit instead the original? Just got mine and don't know if a external kit will better, let me know please.thank you
I'm afraid I have a small correction, the HW98 comes in both .177 and .22, also, there are two different versions, the one you show here is the newer version, the older version has a shroud that extends all the way to the end, no thread at the muzzle, and a 10 cm longer barrel as there is no dead space. However, I believe the older version isn't produced anymore, but I managed to find one at my local gun pusher. With that out of the way, this is a fantastic gun. Without a doubt the best springer I own, or have ever owned. Mine is the older version in .177, and it prefers H&N Baracuda Match in 4.50. It shoots just as well with the same pellet in 4.51 and 4.52, as long as they've been resized to 4.50 mm. Grouping within a dime (Ø around 18 mm) with this gun at an acceptable range, shouldn't be too hard if you're a decent shot with spring guns, my best group was around 10 mm center to center @ 31 m (just over 100 ft), and I've even managed to nail a fly at the same distance - landing on my target is just asking for it. I'd say we're in PCP country accuracy-wise with this gun, or at the very least on the border. Personally, I find it easier to hit with, than my mate's TX200, but that might be down to knowing the gun better.
Some nice shooting, Nate. Beautiful rifle and one that’s escaped me, to date, but will have to be rectified soon. I own a TX200HC and it’s one of two guns that I’ll never sell. Your theory is spot on. Springers are designed to recoil horizontally. It’s outside forces that cause barrel lift or side shift. 👍
I absolutely love my TX200! It's the one springer that I don't loan out. BTW, re: Recoilless? No, the RWS Diana 54 is not actually recoilless. Neither is the Feinwerkbau 150 nor the 300 target rifle. What they do is isolate the shooter from the recoil by allowing the barreled action of the gun to slide backwards in the stock when it fires.
Don't know if you have tried a 77k competition weihrauch that's a nice gun under Leaver Cocking but my favourite is still the good old HW 35 had mine from the 80s done couple of cheap mods the beauty of it is you don't have to tap the barrel to break it there's a thumb Leaver catch. That knock on the barrel can frighten of your pray like all weihrauch the Dismantling anyone could do it for basic mods trigger just stays exactly the same because the hole trigger section just unscrews in one the theoben gas ram changes the gun game to a new level KNOWING THAT A LOT OF THESE GUNS ARE OVER 50 YEAR OLD DON'T THINK ANYTHING TO DAY WILL LAST THAT LONG WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF ACCURACY TIME AFTER TIME
I haven't read all the comments however I was going to say I think when you unscrewed the end of the barrel and put your own silencer on. I think what removed was actually the factory fitted silencer. The early models never had one on but the newer models have one fitted......I think??? Just put it back on and try it if nobody else has mentioned it yet.
The spring gun action , which you witnessed, telling you that pellet is far too heavy , 13 / 14 grain much better to use, and flatter trajectory. Nice video. per per
Nice video. Terrific looking air rifle. Very accurate. Might consider added to my arsenal. thanks for the review. Ghetto Gunner🎯 can't wait to see the next video stay safe and keep slinging that led🔫✌🏿
I own the Air Arms TX 200 MK III in .177 caliber for Hunter Field Target, and it is stupid accurate. You will love it. I also own the Beeman R1 Magnum, and it is really accurate also. Let me know what you think of the TX 200 when you get it.
My Prosport loves JSBs in various weights, H&N FTT, and most pellets I've tried. H&N Terminator pellets are a nice little secret too. They shoot well, and I mean really well, out if everything I've tried them in, but are actually a particularly deadly hunting pellet that does a lot of damage. Not a lot of POI shift from you standard diabolo pellets either. I've found Air Arms aren't that fussy.
I had one of the first of these, it was so accurate that it would put 5 shots into a 10p circle at 40 mtrs. Only sold it to get a Falcon Raptor19 RS. 8 shot mag, half the weight, rabbits and squirrels hated both of them.
I have the .177 super tune it open the transfer port 1/2 mm more and I am shooting 13gr around 900fps. it will do the same group at 50 meters. You just have to get used to the recoil of it, as we are all spoiled by the PCPs we are using. I use mine as a training tool 50 pellets loading with the left hand and 50 pellets loading with the right hand, keeps you in shape. 🙂
HI, great vid thankyou. at about the 10:30 mark you are poping some "yellow wildlife". Um how far away was the pickup in the background? I guess you were not planning on missing or the springer could not propel a pallet that far. NIce gun, excellent review and nice Video, thankyou
Learn how to load a break barrel Springer, always hold the barrel while loading the pellet, if anything goes wrong you will trap your finger or hand ,at the very least you will put a bent in your barrel, always shoot safe, 👍
Lovely gun. On my radar. As for the subject of other springers, if you ever get chance to own a Walther LGU (sadly discontinued)...take it. Smoother than the TX200.
I need to get a hw98, I really love my hw97kt. Pcp guns will spoil you and I love them the most BUT I have a special place in my heart for high end springers. My tx200 MKIII is one that really I lov3.
I just ordered the newest “Match” version that has the full length barrel. I was thinking that I could detune it and still get the same fps as the short barrel but i will then be battling a little more dwell time. I also ordered the bullbarrel version in .20 on back order.
This type of stock was considered a typical match air rifle stock 50yrs ago. Often called "Olympiaschaftung" in the adverts. If you put proper peep sights on it it would be equal to a Walther model 55,
Well you can I wouldn’t lie to you lol! Get it out tomorrow! Cock the rifle, disengage the safety, then cock the gun again but you have to fully squeeze to re engage the safety!
The Pro Sport...I knew there was an Air Arms I was missing. It wasn't on the Pyramyd Air site...I'll get one to review. ASAP. Thanks for watching! -Nate
Yes sir! It’s the best springer Iv ever owned and honestly Iv owned alot, never had the one on this video but I’m assuming from the ones Iv tried it’s one of the worlds best springer
Best springer I owned, regret selling it. I did put a new spring and sleeve and tophat in, which improved it from Stock. This was the best quality rifle from weirach I got from box, HW100 was awful, it was replaced
Try and check the air arms pro sport you wont be disappointed with that very accurate and the trigger is more or less the same as the weihrauch triggers
Hey buddy hope all is well. That thing is so damn good looking! That fact that it shoots so well is icing. For the price of a lower end pcp it is hard to pass up. I don’t have any break barrels in my collection anymore 🤔Merry Christmas Nate. Great review again.
You should be using the Diana zero recoil scope mount. I love springers but I hate when they destroy scopes, no matter if it is an expensive German airgun or a crappy Chinese one, all springers destroy scopes and it doesn't even matter if the scope is rated as shockproof.
The Sports Match dampa mount is better than the Diana zero recoil mount. Yes indeed, scopes don't like springers but the Hawke Airmax series are special developed for springer airguns. I have killed some scopes with my HW's. A brand new Nikko Serling on a HW95 within the tin with pellets was empty. I have 5 HW springers with a Airmax scope mounted and i have shot them a lot without any issues. Great scopes, good tracking, good glass. Cheers.
@@rapalaron6348 Oh thank you for the heads up about that scope mount, I didn't knew about it, I will look it up. still I would be anxious about using that Hawke Airmax scope on any springer.
@@lyrooo326 Welcome mate! I have an Airmax om my HW80K in .25 cal. The strongest Vortek spring in it and just normal two piece mounts. This HW is a beast and you need a strong arm to cock that rifle. I shot at least 3 tins with pellets with it and the Airmax is still doing fine. With the Sports match dampa mount and an Airmax your are double safe. The Sports Match mount is a one piece mount and sits like a rock, available in 1" and 30mm.
walther do good spring guns they say the under leaver is better than the tx200. air arm also did the tx200 sr (semi recoilless) try one of them if you can get your hands on one.
Great video what a really cool looking accurate rifle. I recently bought a HW95k that shoots very well too. Just a question when you took off the tube on the end of the barrel I was under the impression that was already a moderator it’s a Weihrauch moderator/suppressor/silencer? It definitely is on mine any way. Just asking not trying to clever or annoying and maybe I’m incorrect as this is a different rifle to mine. I’d like to know if you would be so kind. Cheers.
Nice gun but scopes and cameras on springers eventually results in destroyed scopes and cameras. Some scopes are "designed" for springers but even they get shaken apart over time. Iron/fiber optic sights are the best choice I think.
@@AirgunChannel Try Optisan scopes, they design some of their range specifically to cope with springers, especially the CP range. Perfect scopes for a 98.
I doubt if the HW98 is fully tuned "Right out of the Box. No standard production air rifle is, including the well-made TX200. Close, but no cigar. I have on order an HW98 in .177, and it will be tuned ASAP. That said, it is a fine rifle and will shine after tuning.
It is clear from the video that it has a very low voice What do you think about the sound? Is it actually much louder than the clip, annoying and striking?
What is the name of that gun rest please? Nice shooting. Also, how does scope hold up to a springer? Would a red dot be more better? Or would that be worse?
Personally I don't think you can beat the HW80. This rifle looks like the HW80 with an upgraded stock. Anti bear trap devices are for rifles like the HW77 where there is a chamber that can will trap your fingers. Not break barrels.
You need a one piece scope mount. That will hold the scope better. I prefer smaller scopes as well because Springers weigh so much. I have the recoiless RWS 54 Air King. It's nice too but heavy. Very accurate though. If you can learn to shoot this HW98 well I would just use this one instead because it's over a pound lighter. I rarely shoot the Air King off-hand because of weight. I usually shoot from sitting position, prone or benchrest. I also have the Diana 350 Magnum .22 cal which I love for hunting.

It's fun to own PCPs but much more satisfying and challenging to shoot close groups with break barrels. With your short practice with this HW you have proven that a quality springer can do this.
Thanks. I agrre. It's more fun to get good at shooting a springer. PCP's are almost too easy sometimes.
Totally agree!
I don't like pcps, they just feel dead to me, I like to feel that I'm shooting something.
I have the HW95, HW97, HW98, AA Pro Sport and TX200. My two favourites are the HW98 and TX200 both which I use for HFT competition!
Super nice looking break barrel!! Very accurate air rifle.
Ya know,,I really enjoy your channel,,,,it moves along quikly,,no boring or slow scenes,,,you would make a good movie director.
Thanks
Agreed !
I could make some awesome movies. I appreciate the thumbs up! Thank you! -Nate
Thanks guys! -Nate
Now that is the type of gun I like to shoot! Not boring, you get a great sound & some recoil/feedback. I'd have one of these over any PCP, no matter how much the PCP cost. I really dig springers!
Great video.
Awesome rifle. Please try the HW30, or Beeman R7. Very good rifles for backyard shooting.
Love this classic design. Takes me back to the 80’s
Weihrauch does make some pretty nice springers and PCPs. Great review as usual Nate.
also rifles and revolvers and blank fire guns
Thanks man! I guess the Pro Sport is the good one...$900...after the TX200, I'll try the Pro Sport.
Nice presentation of the HW98 and nice indoor shooting range i like Weihrauch .👍
my hw98(.177) has had the spring guides replaced with delrin guides, this has tamed down the recoil ,so much that i can shoot 20mm groups at 35yds.and with a weirauch moderator fitted its almost as quiet as a pcp.brilliant gun for not a lot of money.nice review too!
Thank you Anthony, that was a real interesting read.
Weihrauchs tend to twang like a banjo so I always fit a tinbum tuning kit. I have a HW95, HW97, HW99S and HW57... we don't talk about the 57.
Is the 57 garbage or just pointless ?
@@ACshinealight a lot of people have had problems with it being totally inaccurate, me included. I found mine needs loose fitting pellets otherwise it sprays them out in 6 inch groups. I can take tight fitting pellets, push them right through the breach which makes them loose, then load and fire them and they are perfectly accurate. Possibly there's an alignment issue or the barrel is too tight. It's just damn annoying but JSB Exacts seem to be working straight out the tin.
@@VortymLichbanedo you have the original internals or some other kit?
My HW 55 T is 35 year old, with its hand carved Tyroler stock and absolute beauty and still shoot like a proper match gun
Nice. Love my TR7! Still going strong! Thanks! -Nate
All those letters and numbers. Beautiful rifle no doubt.
Had a .22 breach barrel back in the 90s Most accurate air rifle I ever owned under .22
Dude that shooting range is freaking genius
Internally, the HW95 is the same as the HW98, just the barrel and stock is different.
I love my HW50 (.177) with a Hawke Compact 6x24.
I also have a HW80, I've had it for over 30 years and still love it... It does however need a little TLC now but nothing that will stop me shooting it. I might save up for this new one though after this review.
H&N ftt pellets are the best in all my hws. They come in different sizes from I think 5.50 to 5.55.
I had a feeling theat gun might like H&N's. Thanks for the tip! -Nate
I think it's so cool Nate!!
I agree. It's the best springer I have tried yet...for sure. Thanks for watching! -Nate
Like others have said, check out the vortek kits. Also- the HW97K really is the one.
Yeah, an upgrade kit isa must have. I still haven't tried one. I need too.
@@AirgunChanneldo you think you need a vortek kit instead the original? Just got mine and don't know if a external kit will better, let me know please.thank you
Again a very nice video 👍
I'm from Germany and I watches nearly all of your videos

👍
OK, thanks for the info. I can't wait to try the Air Arms. What's the other gun you would never sell? -Nate
I own the RWS 48 and a 54, the later is much nicer to shoot; both in .22
Don't know if you have tried a 77k competition weihrauch that's a nice gun
under Leaver Cocking
but my favourite is still the good old HW 35 had mine from the 80s done couple of cheap mods the beauty of it is you don't have to tap the barrel to break it there's a thumb Leaver catch.
That knock on the barrel can frighten of your pray
like all weihrauch the Dismantling anyone could do it for basic mods trigger just stays exactly the same
because the hole trigger section
just unscrews in one
the theoben gas ram changes the gun game
to a new level KNOWING THAT A LOT OF THESE GUNS ARE OVER 50 YEAR OLD DON'T THINK ANYTHING TO DAY
WILL LAST THAT LONG WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF ACCURACY TIME AFTER TIME
I haven't read all the comments however I was going to say I think when you unscrewed the end of the barrel and put your own silencer on.
Nice video.

Happy Holidays! I can't wait to check out that Diana either. Good times! Thanks for watching! -Nate
Nice video. Terrific looking air rifle. Very accurate. Might consider added to my arsenal. thanks for the review. Ghetto Gunner🎯 can't wait to see the next video stay safe and keep slinging that led🔫✌🏿
Use the arrestor pin in your scope rings to avoid your scope sliding out of proper mounting.
I own the Air Arms TX 200 MK III in .177 caliber for Hunter Field Target, and it is stupid accurate. You will love it. I also own the Beeman R1 Magnum, and it is really accurate also. Let me know what you think of the TX 200 when you get it.
I ordered the .177! What pellets do you use for the best accuracy? -Nate
@@AirgunChannel JSB Or Air Arms 10.34 grain.
Shooting spring rifles accurately, using all the fundamentals, made me a better shooter overall.
NIce gun, excellent review and nice Video, thankyou
looking forward to more springers. most expensive springer is the airarms prosport. the TX is not a break barrel . You will like the Diana 54..
Learn how to load a break barrel Springer, always hold the barrel while loading the pellet, if anything goes wrong you will trap your finger or hand ,at the very least you will put a bent in your barrel, always shoot safe, 👍
Thank you for the info! Good call!
Lovely gun. On my radar. As for the subject of other springers, if you ever get chance to own a Walther LGU (sadly discontinued)...take it. Smoother than the TX200.
LGV and LGU by Walther are up there with the best spring guns as well. I have LGV it's amazing.
That’s the biggest loudest twang I’ve ever heard in a springer. This needs a tune.
If you think this rifle is good you should try the hw90k gas ram version, it has a faster lock time and no twang, it's sublime!
great accuracy, great value, easy to rebuild many years later !
i have one of the original hw80 and a fairly rare in the uk, are arms pro elite break barrel air rifle! they are both very good!
This type of stock was considered a typical match air rifle stock 50yrs ago. Often called "Olympiaschaftung" in the adverts. If you put proper peep sights on it it would be equal to a Walther model 55,
You can also re engage the safety by cocking it to the end of its travel!
I doubt it
Well you can I wouldn’t lie to you lol! Get it out tomorrow! Cock the rifle, disengage the safety, then cock the gun again but you have to fully squeeze to re engage the safety!
Sorry Nate the air arms pro sport is better brother, not going to lie tho…this rifle is super nice! Probably right up there with it
Once you get one of these tuned it’s unbelievable
The Pro Sport...I knew there was an Air Arms I was missing. It wasn't on the Pyramyd Air site...I'll get one to review. ASAP. Thanks for watching! -Nate
I would love to do that!
I need a Pro Sport then....
Excellente vidéo !
La meilleure que j'ai vu.....
Thank you! -Nate
Try and check the air arms pro sport you wont be disappointed with that very accurate and the trigger is more or less the same as the weihrauch triggers
One advantage of spending extra money on spring rifles is they last longer and tend to shoot better after broken in.
Hey buddy hope all is well. That thing is so damn good looking! That fact that it shoots so well is icing. For the price of a lower end pcp it is hard to pass up. I don’t have any break barrels in my collection anymore 🤔Merry Christmas Nate. Great review again.
TR7? Wow, haven’t heard that since the 70s …..nice!
Try Diana 56
I will
hi, i'm in england. the 98 is better with a short stroke kit in it. no more horrible twang from the spring.👍
Nice springer !
What would be the best scope cam option for break barrels in your opinion?
You should be using the Diana zero recoil scope mount. I love springers but I hate when they destroy scopes, no matter if it is an expensive German airgun or a crappy Chinese one, all springers destroy scopes and it doesn't even matter if the scope is rated as shockproof.
Good call. I did have that mount...I should not have sold it. Darn it! Thanks for the tip! -Nate
@@rapalaron6348 Great! I will get that scope and the dampa scope mount for when I save and get my HW 97 blue laminate.
Love the look of that HW98. Shooting 723fps (sea level) with my TX200 and Hades 15.89gr.
Nice gun. Nice GT too 👌
Try a one peace scope mount with a creep pin in it you will not have any problems with your scope moving.
walther do good spring guns they say the under leaver is better than the tx200. air arm also did the tx200 sr (semi recoilless) try one of them if you can get your hands on one.
My 98, 177 JSB 4.52 8.44 grns groups happily at 65 yds if I do my bit! Happy days.
Cheers.
I'm wondering the same thing. Also, how does it compare with/without the moderator addon?
Nice gun but scopes and cameras on springers eventually results in destroyed scopes and cameras. Some scopes are "designed" for springers but even they get shaken apart over time. Iron/fiber optic sights are the best choice I think.
Even a HAWKE? That would be lame. Thanks for the heads up about "Spring Rated" scopes! -Nate
Did ever get to review the Diana 54 Airking Pro recoilless break-barrel rifle?
It is clear from the video that it has a very low voice
What do you think about the sound? Is it actually much louder than the clip, annoying and striking?
I don't think it's loud at all.
What is the name of that gun rest please? Nice shooting. Also, how does scope hold up to a springer? Would a red dot be more better? Or would that be worse?
Scope needs to be spring rated. Red dot may break too. Check out this springer ruclips.net/video/WUQvqI4etuI/видео.html Rest is a Caldwell Stinger
@@AirgunChannel thanks- that springer rifle looks interesting in the clip-
Personally I don't think you can beat the HW80. This rifle looks like the HW80 with an upgraded stock. Anti bear trap devices are for rifles like the HW77 where there is a chamber that can will trap your fingers. Not break barrels.
I think this has such a chamber.
Are there any spring upgrades for more power.
Hear in the uk you can get it in .177 , witch is what i have, absolutely brilliant rifle, 😁👍

I considered one of these but I don't think I could live with the spring twang so I'm leaning towards the hw90k gas ram.
I have a model 98s and I've had over 25years in .22 it's probably the most accurate spring air rifle I've ever had.🙂
I own the same rifle here in Hungary but airguns are limited here at 7,5 joules shooting energy.
