    The video of her speaking in Mandarin made me roll my eyes in realization that she is a marketing dream. I thought Naomi had it locked up with the Japanese thing but China is a huge market.
    The big bonus for us tennis fans is her game is really enjoyable to watch. Personally, I always favor the offensive game but it truthfully doesn't always mean success.
    Right now, it appears she needs more match experience so I expect a few more early exits. She has said that strengthening her body is #1.

    • @oceaneauguste7681

      A lots of westerners think she is a marketing dream because of her multicultural background. That's true in some sense but the credit has to go to her British nationality. Many Chinese tennis fans don't see her gain huge sponsorships from China because back in China she is pretty much unknown to people outside the tennis circle and tennis is not huge there like football and basketball. Emma earned reportedly 15m, that's pretty impressive. But Ailee Gu who chose to represent China in sport events allegedly raked in 30 millions last year alone. Osaka, I believe, will remain on top of most marketable female athlete.

      @@oceaneauguste7681 Points taken but am wondering if she were to play in the Peking 1000 event. do well and give a thank-you speech in Mandarin? I think that would create quite a stir. She's also very savvy too giving credit to Li Na etc.

    • @oceaneauguste7681
      @oceaneauguste7681 2 года назад +3

      @@TheJhtlag She's already created a stir among Chinese tennis community when she won US Open last year. I saw she spoke mandrin when doing interviews with Chinese media. So even if she won Beijing Open one day giving a speech in Chinese, there wouldn't be too much of a reaction from Chinese audience cuz most of them know of her Chinese heritage. Compared to the US and Europe China has a pretty meagre percentage of sports fans. Unless you are Yao Ming or Li Na level of famous, most non sport people will have a hard time recognizing you. But considering how she's been vocal about her hero Li Na, who knows what will happen? She changed her Instagram profile picture into one with her and Li, wondering if it's for fun or a marketing thing. 😂

    I am pretty sure Serena and Osaka even sharapova are already billionaires. Oska made 50m last year. Serena made 40m last year. They both played limited matches. Raducanu got a lot of sponsorship. If she wants more, her consistency on court matters. Her recent results are not promising, still adjusting to the tour. The three successful players I mentioned are very consistent since their first slam.

      @@oceaneauguste7681 Most of the recent women's No.1 would not make it to 1 billion club. I can't see Osaka accumulate that sort of wealth as a player, she is no Roger Federer. Federer's sporting goods deal is close 700 million over 10 years, Federer has made a brand out of himself that is how he get his money, you can look at his rolex deal, when he first signed up he was gettign 1.5 million a year and now it is 8 million a year, he built a brand in 20 years and that brand is getting him the money, Uniqlo is also paying the Roger Federer brand, they will pay him 300 million for 10 years until he is 46. The sponsors are no longer paying Federer based on his on court performance, players like Osaka and Raducanu will be judged on their performance, they need back up their performance with year in year out , Raducanu if she can back up her performance year in year out for about 5 or 6 years then with her look then she could do well or getting close to a billion dollars.

This year is her first official year on tour. It’s a massive mental shift and physical shift. I wouldn’t expect her to be able to perform as she did in the USO whilst having a first full run on tour. Her body and mind need to adjust to playing tennis with the big dogs on a day to day basis. After she is settled I believe the results will roll in. So let’s not bad mouth a 19 year old who is bringing something to tennis :)

    Can someone please explain to me why Raducanu is talked about in the terms of "Tennis Super Star" or "Women's Tennis Phenom"? Other than beating a tired Leylah Fernandez in the US Open, who had a triad of three set matches on the way to that final, not to mention the fact Fernandez played doubles matches on top of the singles action. What has she done since? She has lost in the 1st round of virtually every tournament since, ousted by unranked opponents. I have never seen a professional athlete receive more undeserved accolades than Raducanu has. Remember Genie Bouchard? Same talent, and now that the real stars of the game have her game figured out, she will likely enjoy the same level of success Bouchard has achieved....mostly off the court endorsement success..... Please stop the unwarranted hype, and give it to the players that are "consistant" winners.

    Emma is a SENSATIONAL TENNIS PLAYER. I have never enjoyed watching womens tennis as much as I have during her matches first at Wimbledon 2021and then a few weeks later at the US open. It wasn't just the fact that she literally came from nowhere to win it , but it was the way she did it, blowing her opponents off the court and without dropping a single set from the qualifying rounds right through to the final; a feat never before accomplished and probably never to be repeated . Her shot making , technique and tennis aesthetic , when she is playing as she did in these tournaments , is a sight to behold ; . That is why she is now an inspiration and role model to hundreds of thousands of young people , especially girls around the world - not only because of her tennis but also because of her grace beauty and personal personality . To me , and probably millions of others she transcends tennis; so to include her with Iga, Naomi and all her other contemporaries is to somewhat miss the point. You either get it or you don't. Such is art .

      I dunno, she seemed to enjoy the Met Gala just a little too much, great for folks like Serena in the latter part of their careers, not so great for folks starting out on a career path and really needing to re-double their efforts. I may be totally off on this, just my observation at the time.

      Gauff and Swiatek are both good tennis players in their own right but they are not known for their power. Emma 's strength is her ability to adjust her game when things are not working right. All three players need to increase their strength and stamina as the years go by.

      Sorry, I don't agree with your assessment. Emma is riddled with injuries so far and the luck she got by winning the US Open has since deserted her. We have Gauff, Fernández, Krejickova, Swiatek, Tauson, and many others that are miles ahead of her. Even though I wish her all the best but I believe there are more rounded players than her. Wait until all the sponsors start to dry out.
