  • I just wanted to open a discussion on whether credit cards are really necessary when there are options for debit cards from bank accounts that earn 2%-10% cash back from offers they provide.
Does it make sense to risk paying 20-29% APR when carrying a balance on a credit card when a debit card that can give 1% cash back on all purchases or even one that gives Membership rewards points?
Thank you for stopping by and listening to me rant a bit. I hope to get better with providing the information I want to convey. Come along on this journey with me and let’s learn together!

Love the intro! Thank you for bringing this question up to everyone. A good credit history does lend itself to a better overall lifestyle. 1 card or 2 is fine for most people, but those of us in this space have a heck of a lot more! lol.

Nice info! So, do you think purchase protections on a card are a bit exaggerated?

Hey! Thank you for watching! Honestly, I may not do enough shopping to really know the difference. I think the purchase protection will make the most difference for something like an iPhone or gopro or electronics in general that you would want to recuperate the spend in case of issues but I believe Costco has a very strong purchasing program that it is a one stop shop where you just need a visa debit card to pay and you still get those protections that you would get from a credit card. Sorry, long way to answer your question. But yes purchase protections on cards are exaggerated but great marketing. I mean it’s just like insurance, you don’t need it until you need it and you pay for it until then.
