The E60 never came out with an 8-speed ZF transmission, your car does not have it. The E60 535i comes with a 6 speed ZF 6HP. The 8 speed was introduced on the F10 5 series.
ayaxro was looking for someone to comment this 👍🏽
@Jeronimo Stupenengo Pefaur It's corrected if you turn on the Subtitles/closed captions
@@bmwdiy How many Horspower has the Car?

@@bmwdiy OK that's nice
Still my favorite tail lights
I actually own an e60 535 and it’s insanely expensive to maintain. Luckily I’m an auto tech and do my own work. Last 6 months has costed thousands and I’m actually replacing turbos here very soon. Rear turbo seized and I’m going with Vargas stage 2+ with a manual swap and lsd. The ultimate m5 killer drift sedan 👍🏼
Wow what’s else broke on the car?
@@Thomas998822 active sway bars are on there way out, countless oil leaks that have been fixed, needs a walnut blast. Only that hasn’t broke yet is HPFP and water pump.
How many miles sheesh
@@ColeGrovehow did it cost you thousands? The turbos I get however a walnut blast isn’t that expensive and none of the oil leaks are that expensive to fix if you’re really doing the work yourself.
Did you ever swap the trans and add lsd?
I’ve got an 09. My favorite care ever. Other than my e39.
Love the car bro!
I have a black 2010 m sport 535i with Dakota brown interior.
You should also look into changing your shifter also. You are also missing the sport button located right behind the shifter.
Not sure how or if you can put your car in sport mode. It makes a significant performance difference.
I’ve had my car for a little over 2.5 years.
Watch out for the oil filter housing/cooler, if it begins to leak, IMMEDIATELY have the gasket changed. On the n54 the oil drips directly on the serpentine belt. My belt came off during acceleration and got sucked in the front main seal. 😬 Anyhow, other than replacing a cracked valve cover. I’ve had no other significant issues. My car currently has 113 miles on it. You have a beautiful car, sir!
did you get a rod knock
@@okokok2468 still have the car, nope no rod knock
How has the reliability been with you if you still have it, What were the major issues/replacements, would you recommend buying a used 535i? Thanks
@@FrankKhan23 never really had any serious issues. I still have it. Lately I have had I strange transmission issue, hopefully it’s just software. The ZF trans don’t usually go out on these. Other than that I’ve had to replace the coolant reservoir, super easy and cheap. It will go into a limp mode type thing every once in a while in super hot weather, it doesn’t lose power or anything. I just turn the car off and back on and it’s gone. I believe it’s the plastic vacuum lines that are the issue from what I’ve read. I just remembered one of the fabric covered hoses that come out of the oil filter housing burst and leaked out tons of oil. I was able to buy a 5 quart jug of oil and stop every few miles and fill it up again. It was nerve wracking but I made it home and ordered the part and fixed it myself easily. All in all not much in about 6 years of ownership. Don’t plan on selling ever.
@@dulcimer16 Wow thanks for the quick reply! I’m looking forward to getting one for myself as well! E60 has been one of my favorite designs ever since it was launched, esp the LCI! Regarding the transmission, there are couple of videos I’ve seen on YT, you can search M539restoration’s video on the X5 zf transmission service and some others too, the job isn’t difficult at all. I hope you keep enjoying every minute of owning/driving your E60! I certainly do miss my E39 540i, guess you get addicted to these cars if you ever own one ay, Thank you!
Your car is absolutely beautiful, I’m glad you take of her, not many people take car of these older bimmers.
Hate to be that guy but the LCI actually came out in 2007 at least in europe it did.
Makjeh North America is 2008
Was about to say
So he mentioned he replaced the CIC. I thought the LCI came already with the new CIC and the not the old CCC?
@@Stefan-gh7xr No, CIC came out in 2009 i think, my 2007 LCI has CCC.
@@Makjeh Ok, thanks! It seems that CIC also got an upgrade at one point.
I found a beautiful 525i 2006 with only 110k km for 13k euro and a 523i 2011 with only 89k km for 20k euro. Which one would you recommend?
The 2006 has no turbo, but straight 6 cylinder.
I wish i had theses type in my country. Max is E60 530i, others are the crap 4 bangers 520i lmfao.
I sold mine 335i manual and now I’m thinking of picking up one of this because of the N54 I know everything about it lol mine 335i was making close 500hp on e40 map v5 MHD 😅
Classic BMW at its finest. Great review my friend.👍🏼
I have the exact same looking car , mine got x drive, a 6 speed manual and factory halo headlights and black grills , I already FBOed it and pushing 490whp .
I got the 2010 535i xdrive auto. What’s FBOed? And what else can I do to get it fast like yours?
@@Thomas998822 full bolt ons , parts that bolt on the outside of the engine to make it faster without going inside the engine, I have after market 17t turbos, they’re not too expensive to buy, I have 2.5 inch cold air intakes with cone filters , I have a decatted custom exhaust system with vrsf downpipes, charge pipe with an HKS blow off valve , I updated to index 12 injectors, I use eldor ignition coils and a step colder spark plugs, I did a walnut blast cleaning, my first ecu tune was the MHD stage 2+ which wasn’t bad , but I got a custom tune from a place called twisted tuning , on 21 pounds of boost with 94 octane fuel that has 10% ethanol content, I dyno 493whp , my car does 60 mph to 120 in 7.2 seconds ,
I will be getting my brothers 2008 BMW 535i for my first car and that BMW is pretty much the pre face-lifted 2008 BMW 535i because it is an earlier model and I will also get the face lifted late 2008 BMW 535i because it is the face lifted one but the things that were face lifted in my brothers 2008 BMW 535i are pretty much the door panels
i have the same exact car. i don’t care much for MPG in getting about 12 mpg at the moment the car is amazing and so much fun!!
i have a 2010 535i xDrive sedan with 189k miles and she runs beautifully still. It has the comfort seats which adjust like 47 different ways haha; heated steering wheel heated seats front and rear, then it has the turn by turn navigation system so that makes it the only spec where an E60 5 series can have such a modern newer idrive
Get the COMBOX, it will make you love your car even more ->ruclips.net/video/MaiNTdUwWf0/видео.html

I have a 57 plate already LCI
......and then the turbos blow. Not worth it for an extra 45HP. Beautiful car you have don't get me wrong. I wish you luck with it. I'll keep my '06 E60 530xi w/ the N52.
is the N52 a fast engine ?
@@p.marinov2109 You can get all the tickets you want with it. Not great on 0-60 at 6.7 but top speed is 150 mph. Roll ons at 70mph are a blast.
@@banditY2K i'm thinking of buying 325i or 330i ( E90), either with the N52 or N53 engine ( which is a little more torque and bit more horsepower) any opinions?
@@p.marinov2109 I would try to find a 330i E90 with the sport package and N52 engine if you're in the states. If in Europe, go with the N53. Go here to see the engine matches for the E90 years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_3_Series_(E90)#Petrol
bandity2k my dad has an n52 car and I have an e60 535i that’s getting stage 2 twins. In stock form the car is SO much faster it’s actually night and day. He has an e90 which is smaller and lighter and my car is bigger and heavier and blows the doors off. Definitely like the N54 even tho it has awful maintenance costs imo
Waiting for more vids of this beauty 😍
Beautiful car...want 525i m sport 2008 black or dark navy
CUm imi iau si eu un 535i? am 525d NFL.
The 530i N52 or M54 is much more reliable. In my opinion all the direct injection engines are crap, because they build a lot of deposit at the valves and the valve guids. I have a e60 with the bulletproof m54 3.0 engine. I do all repairs and service diy and the car have now 160.000 miles and it drive fantastic.
I agree with Heiko I’ve had both n52 and n54 and nothing but problems with the later. High pressure fuel pumps carboned up intakes, very expensive fuel injectors that need coding etc etc. N52 apart from external stuff like water pumps, a few oil leaks is bulletproof but like all bmws they need maintenance clean oil is there best friend and don’t wait if you see a problem. They’ll bite you in the butt.
Nice review, the e60 61 are beautiful cars and have stood the test of time and I think they look better than the new 5ers in my humble opinion 2007 e61 carbon black m package
@@anthonygillesse7242i agree, the N52 is a very nice powerful and reliable engine. For me this is the last real inline six cylinder engine who can buy. But my number one is the M54. A little less power but very cheap and easy to maintenance and fix. The M54 3.0 in a e46 is a sportive handling, quite car and make a lot fun.
Heiko Baumgärtner I feel as if the extra maintenance such as walnut blasts on the intake valves is worth taking care of for the extra horsepower and extra potential on tap
@@standyourground9973 i respect Your opinion but for me it is not worth it. The deposit affect the entire engine and cause wear and rapid aging. Why should i buy such a sh...I am not a beta tester and have to pay much money for a car in this class. In germany the prices for new cars are much higher than in the USA. For 10 HP more or a half liter less consumption per 100 km, no way. I am happy with my BMW M54 and M52TU. Both have more than 200.000 km burn no oil and have nearly a perfect compression. In this year a change the intakte manifold gasket on the M54. And what can i say, the valves look like new.
I‘ve 535d LCI
Great video, I've always had issue with BMW not making the rear seats fold down as a standard option. Too bad BMW no longer makes the trim for the updated idrive controller on the E60. Good luck cutting the trim piece though.
