Matamoros and Brownsville Texas are cities that are twin cities. In this area we all live in harmony and no one is racist. The South Texas economy depends on Mexico, because people living in northern Mexico cross the border to buy in malls. Matamoros and Brownsville are seen as a single city metropolitan from Google Earth.
YES of course, same with the Rainbow Bridge (the border btwn Niagara Falls, NY and Niagara Falls, Ontario), but obviously you will have to go thru the US Customs when walking into USA, no idea about requirements for walking into Mexico. @Westcoast802 My bad, Michael, snow chains (tire chains) are illegal anywhere in Ontario, studded tires are legal only in N Ontario but illegal in S Ontario, don't know the reason for this (at least 30-40 yo) law, in Ontario is not mandatory to use winter tires at all, it's up to you, that's it, but in Quebec a new law (2-3 yo) makes it mandatory (with police fines) to use winter tires btwn mid-Dec to mid-March, anyhow pretty easy AND safe to drive on snowy roads with winter tires.
Mexican cities like Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Matamoros and Monterrey are holding the economy of South Texas Valley. These Mexican cities mentioned are richer than Texas border cities. When to Mexican cities fare poorly, its economy the South Texas Valley plunges into a major crisis. The hundreds of thousands of Mexicans who cross the border to buy in South Texas stores are the main trading partner in this region of the United States.
Thank you very much. And if you're Canadian like myself, Scotia Bank branches in Matamoros as you can see in the video, felt very proud being Canadian so far from home. It makes a difference. It's my country, and I care when people make use of our infrastructure and resources for their own (and their family's own) benefit while giving little or nothing back.
Actually there are NO Customs officers when you cross into MX unless you have something to declare (no idea what "stuff" you happen to have on you, in your car, that must be declared at the border getting into MX) but coming back to USA I guess English AND Spanish is widely spoken by all (or most of) US Customs officers. Here you have my border crossing into MX/Tijuana, long time ago: /watch?v=g_iXP43yi2I Feel free to ask any (non-personal) Qs you might have, I'm Canadian btw. Stay safe. Chris
I've been to Mexico 7 or 8 times and got fairly fluent in Spanish once when spending 7 weeks there. I don't know if they have passenger trains there anymore but when I went I traveled by train and got to know quite a few Mexicans. A guy could travel by train from Laredo to Tapachula for a total of $20. Buses were a bit cheaper but trains were a lot nicer. Also went to Guatemala.
There is ONE passenger train and it does not go very far, and costs a fortune to ride. It's really for site seeing. It runs from Chihuahua to near the Pacific coast in Sonora
@michael112254 Hi Michael, 1) This video is mostly to show ppl in the States, CDA or elsewhere how crossing the border into Mexico looks like, in the playlist I have 60 min (4 videos) of driving in Matamoros, Zero such videos in HD on YT. 2) Always when I chose the soundtrack for a video it must a) meet my own personal taste (in music of course) b) have something in common with whatever is in the video c) put a smile on ppl's faces. Can you guess the songs I used in the video?
@401RoadWarrior Hi Chris, Thank you for your wishes , I appreciate that, I also wish you and your loved ones the best for 2012. Snow also came very late this year over here, two weeks ago there was zero snow but then a massive load came overnight.Be glad that you don't have snow for a too long time, it only means extra money to pay, and of course the whole traffic goes crazy when there's a heavy snowfall. Have a great Christmas Michael
@TheSnake4149 Don't worry about, be happy, that's all that matters, right? I use only remixes, club music, it takes a lot to find the right song AND its remix to match the video. My next video, within a week, will have another juicy remix.
Even in Europe is common, do not want to speak in another language, especially in France and Germany. Within Spain itself in their regions, the Basques and Catalans do not speak Spanish all. If Mexicans are going to USA or Canada, especially the Anglo-Saxons not think we speak Spanish or very little. Although I have to say that at least in Mexico in the tourist center and many cities have grown tremendously the school to learn English, is very widespread and important now.
I don't know how is in YOUR country or jurisdiction but where I live it's called the TRESSPASS TO PROPERTY ACT, and any citizen has the right to ARREST when somebody unlawfully steps foot on the property. You are also allowed to USE FORCE in order to apprehend an intruder. You break the law, don't expect empathy from me! Applies to getting into the country illegally as well.
You see how they've flagged YOUR comments as well? Purely hatred, no effect whatsoever on this very video or on me, my channel or my future videos. Obviously I'm doing something GOOD if they hate me so much. And I LOVE it.
Did you know that nobody speaks any English in Matamoros? Either they don't know OR they refuse to speak English at all, I went to a gas station to get gas, also a supermarket, NOBODY spoke any English to me PLUS they looked at me in a very weird way, like I was there to steal something or to plan a terrorist attack, when in fact I was just a humble tourist very curious to find out how life is south of the border. Also they refused to tell me (in English) the exchange rate, US$ vs MX Peso.
I agree with you 101%, IMHO they are not even illegal immigrants, an immigrant is one who comes to a country b/c he/she dearly LOVES that country and is his/her dream to make that country, America in this case, his/her new and permanent home, that's been the case with most of E EU immigrants before the fall of communism, I see the illegals as MIGRANT WORKERS who's only goal is to find a job and send money back home with ZERO intentions of making America their new adoptive & permanent home.
One more thing, cause I've been to those borders, at least 90% if not 95% of all ppl who legally cross the US-MX border, mostly by car but also on foot, again, LEGALLY, are either dual nationals, MX & US Citizenship or simply MX citizens only, max of 5% NON-Mexican Americans crossing the border to MX. Those 95% feel like home in MX, Spanish language included, when the 5%... just for their own curiosity, to see how life is outside MX, the ONLY reason I went to MX when I speak no Spanish.
@Westcoast802 Merry Christmas to you Michael, your entire family, all your loved ones, a very Blessed and Happy Holiday Season and a very productive, healthy and safe 2012. So far zero snow in TO and nothing on the horizon for at least 2 more weeks, still on my summer tires, the real snow ones sitting on the balcony waiting for the very first real announcement of some deep authentic snow, that's over 3 cm of snow on the ground. Take care and stay safe. Chris.
Generally that particular cars-only border crossing is not a pretty busy one, very remote location, no major U.S. urban area around, all compared to Tijuana for the San Diego-LA corridor or even Nuevo Laredo for the I-35 to San Antonio, right? On my channel I have a Dec 2001 Tijuana video, I remember I had to wait HOURS to get back to USA. Be safe out there.
Well, there's all, there are many Americans who cross into Mexico by car, but many Canadians and Americans come by plane. As you say, until I see not believe there is much hope that they had never seen this level of violence in some cities in Mexico, and the task of the two countries, Mexico and USA, there is much appetite for drugs and illegal arms . To expect, but there are now more violent cities like Acapulco keep and which one's Tijuana and Juárez, is indisputable as it has improved there.
@Sulyaman Let's take it from here with the analysys: I'm originally from RO, lived 27 years in communism before 1990 when I defected to the West, I leaned English in school from Grade 1 up to the last year in University, so when I made my way to W EU (before crossing the Ocean for good) I already had the ability to communicate with ppl outside RO, in English of course. MX is a free country, no communism in MX, nobody can stop ordinary MX citizen to learn English in school, right?
Cool, I have an old tape cassette of early 90s with original tracks, but I don't know the performer(. The track is Crockett's Theme. But who is the original performer? Maybe anybody knows? Thanks in advance
I just want to comment that not all border cities of Mexico, are the same as many others have in the country. There are beautiful cities which combines the ancient and modern.
Indeed, English is increasingly widespread. Distances in Mexico are as long as the U.S. or Canada. Driving from TX to Mexico City or other areas of the country are rather long distances. As I mentioned, the beauty of Mexico are in remote areas of the border, in the central, south and west. The border areas are very new cities where more than 120 or 150 years. Unfortunately there are people of USA that seeing these border areas are left with the impression that all of Mexico is well.
1. Can't answer that, but I can assure you I was always legally residing here in the USA. 2. I feel that coming legally is always better for you, but harder work. The ones who come here illegally may do it for their children and they feel they have no other choice. 3. We differ in politics because just because we are both hispanic, our culture was formed differently ever since both countries became independent from Spain. 4. Mexicans do tend to like Cubans, but not really Cuban Americans because
A miracle to see a car with ANY Canadian Province plates around the US-MX border not to mention getting into MX by your own car with Canadian plates. Same for Canadian Trucks as well. So by driving all the way down to that very remote area of USA, it's a wild adventure by itself, I mean driving all the way down from Canada. As the matter of fact not many Canadian plates south of DC, and to Texas: NONE. That's a pretty long drive therefore not everybody is fit for it. Be safe out there. Chris
In series you see that the people walk over the border but here I can see that there is a plate who tell me that walking is forbidden so how come so ??

@401RoadWarrior That is weird law, isn't it ? I mean if you stuck with your car in the snow and there are five cars behind you, what would be better: Keep stucking in the snow and delay the traffic or to put on snow chains and drive away? And you're right, if there're winter conditions the best thing you can have are good winter tires, no electronic systems could replace them. Michael
Pemex is owned by Mexican Govt. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pemex This video was recorded in 2011, at that time all gas stations thruout Mexico were Pemex only. very interesting data, the only city I knew was Matamoros border, which were. It was in 2006, usually some cities in northern Mexico is a bit like American cities, as large avenues and streets, shops with signs high and bright. Matamoros is not so bad when compared to Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo with a reputation worse.
Ciudad Mier & Piedras Negras, I looked them up on Google Maps and you're correct, both right on the US Border BUT b/c NO any sort of US urban areas (cities) in those two areas, very few Americans cross the border into MX in those two places you mentioned. The MOST known MX border towns are: Tijuana, Mexicali, Yuma, Nogales, Ciudad de Juarez, Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa and Matamoros, all located by URBAN areas on the US side of the border. Tijuana in Dec '01: /watch?v=g_iXP43yi2I Take care. Chris
This might seem like a dumb question. Around 1:30 it shows you going through an inspection station before crossing the bridge into MX. Do people leaving the US for Mexico have to go through US Customs on their way out of the US?
Excellent, but you forgot to mention the word LEGAL immigrant, unless you would like to tell everybody that a FD somewhere in the USA, feel free to mention the location if you want to, has hired you even that you were not able to present any LEGAL documents to show your LEGAL status in the country, and in that particular case you fall within the ILLEGAL immigrant category and therefore that particular FD broke the law to hire you legally.

For all person whose like the first song its : Miami vice crockett's theme ben liabrand remix!
How different it looks from the US
It looks better and crime free compare to US.
Looks more similar than I thought, I expected more sand and taco stands.
It’s look more different if this guy travel even further in Mexico
Ugly
Thank you very much.
And if you're Canadian like myself, Scotia Bank branches in Matamoros as you can see in the video, felt very proud being Canadian so far from home.
TD Bank branches everywhere in the States, unfortunately except HSBC no other foreign banks for retail banking in Canada, stupid IMO, more competition, lower rates for all of us ordinary citizens.
Be safe.
Chris
Thank you but ME and/or my car are not the reason for making these videos and then U/L them on YT, in other words this channel does not promote narcissism in any way, feel free to ask ANY questions you wish but only about what you see in the video and NOT what's behind the camera.
My auto advice: a car good on gas, ~33 mpg or 7.5 liters/100 km, no need for Volt-like or Hybrid.
Drive safely and enjoy the summer.
Chris
It makes a difference. It's my country, and I care when people make use of our infrastructure and resources for their own (and their family's own) benefit while giving little or nothing back.
I cross border to give back. I ❤ Mexico!
Here you have my border crossing into MX/Tijuana, long time ago:
/watch?v=g_iXP43yi2I
Feel free to ask any (non-personal) Qs you might have, I'm Canadian btw.
Stay safe.
@michael112254 Hi Michael,
1) This video is mostly to show ppl in the States, CDA or elsewhere how crossing the border into Mexico looks like, in the playlist I have 60 min (4 videos) of driving in Matamoros, Zero such videos in HD on YT.
2) Always when I chose the soundtrack for a video it must a) meet my own personal taste (in music of course) b) have something in common with whatever is in the video c) put a smile on ppl's faces.
Can you guess the songs I used in the video?
which car you drive???
Are you able to read the video description?
@401RoadWarrior Hi Chris,
Thank you for your wishes , I appreciate that, I also wish you and your loved ones the best for 2012.
Snow also came very late this year over here, two weeks ago there was zero snow but then a massive load came overnight.Be glad that you don't have snow for a too long time, it only means extra money to pay, and of course the whole traffic goes crazy when there's a heavy snowfall.
Have a great Christmas
Michael
Awesome videos!!!!!!!!
Personally I cannot force anybody to read the (always) fully-detailed video description.
Stay safe.
Chris
impresionante.. como cambia todo cuando cruzas de EEUU a Mexico.. saludos desde ARG, buen video.
Crockett's Theme (Remix) by Jan Hammer (from the NBC mega-hit series Miami Vice)
You see how they've flagged YOUR comments as well?
Purely hatred, no effect whatsoever on this very video or on me, my channel or my future videos.
Obviously I'm doing something GOOD if they hate me so much.
And I LOVE it.
Two different country two different environments wow
Chris.
WOW why was the line so short to get back into the U.S?! I had to wait 5 hours to get back in when I went to Mexico lol!
Can someone let me konw the title & artist of this track ?
Google Miami Vice
@roofcrash Stai ca nu mai inteleg deloc, pe canalul tau zice Chicago, USA, tu unde esti acum?
Cool video, thanks for posting this.
You're very welcome.
Stay safe and happy.
Chris
@roofcrash expressbridgedotcom
Nu cred ca am trecut deloc, niciodata, prin zona cu podul respectiv.
How long did it take you to enter mexico
Cool, I have an old tape cassette of early 90s with original tracks, but I don't know the performer(.
The track is Crockett's Theme.
But who is the original performer?
Maybe anybody knows?
Thanks in advance
ya it is funny how every thing changes right when you cross over from the U.S to Mexico
@RTAY58 You're very welcome.
I just want to comment that not all border cities of Mexico, are the same as many others have in the country. There are beautiful cities which combines the ancient and modern.
there Is so much traffic heading to the us
Indeed, English is increasingly widespread.
4. Mexicans do tend to like Cubans, but not really Cuban Americans because
Name of songs please bro
all u did is drive around? nice! i live in Mission, Tx (40 miles west of Brownsville) id like taking a cruise into mx but dunno about reynosa..
Hi Chris,
I wish you and your family a Merry, God blessed Christmas.
Michael
You're very welcome, any time.
Chris
A miracle to see a car with ANY Canadian Province plates around the US-MX border not to mention getting into MX by your own car with Canadian plates. Same for Canadian Trucks as well. So by driving all the way down to that very remote area of USA, it's a wild adventure by itself, I mean driving all the way down from Canada. As the matter of fact not many Canadian plates south of DC, and to Texas: NONE. That's a pretty long drive therefore not everybody is fit for it.
Be safe out there.
Chris
You're very welcome.
Stay safe.
Chris
In series you see that the people walk over the border but here I can see that there is a plate who tell me that walking is forbidden so how come so ??
Buna Ioana, raspuns la intrebarea muzicala:
/watch?v=YJUFW6Mgju8
Multe remixuri in jurul vestitei coloane sonore din Miami Vice cu Don Johnson.
Chris
Your videos are amazing. Can I ask what car you use for your trips?
@401RoadWarrior That is weird law, isn't it ? I mean if you stuck with your car in the snow and there are five cars behind you, what would be better: Keep stucking in the snow and delay the traffic or to put on snow chains and drive away?
And you're right, if there're winter conditions the best thing you can have are good winter tires, no electronic systems could replace them.
Michael
Is there only one brand gas station ? Pemex...
Pemex is owned by Mexican Govt.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pemex
This video was recorded in 2011, at that time all gas stations thruout Mexico were Pemex only.
Apparently since last summer, MX Govt has allowed private gas stations to operate legally along state-owned Pemex gas stations.
thefulano.space/forum/showthread.php?tid=23798
For safety reasons, never been to Mexico since this video was recorded in 2011.
Be safe.
Is is still US 25 cents to get back over??
Chris
Whats the score when Crossing do you just wave a passport ?
123gogoary - England
did i see a few 711s in the video
very interesting data, the only city I knew was Matamoros border, which were. It was in 2006, usually some cities in northern Mexico is a bit like American cities, as large avenues and streets, shops with signs high and bright. Matamoros is not so bad when compared to Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo with a reputation worse.
The answer is couple of comments down.
Tijuana in Dec '01:

Take care.
Chris
@Larreeeh Yes, I got there LEGALLY, not like 15+ MILLION paisanos north of the border ILLEGALLY.
