Coolest animal ever. Lays eggs, is actually adorable, so unique. You’d never think it was a swimmer, but it is. What great footage. Thank you for this peek into it’s life. Amazing

No it isn't. Platypuses are semi aquatic and live most of their life swimming by choice. Terrestrial mammals like this all know how to swim as a basic survival function.
@@PeacheIIe Actually if you look at the most recent common ancestor of the platypus and echidna it looks almost identical to the modern platypus and was semi-aquatic; echidnas evolved from a semi-aquatic platypus-like ancestor to become more terrestrial and simply kept some of its ability to swim. Although most mammals have some ability to swim, it is not innate and there are several species of mammal that will simply drown.
A lot of animals lay eggs and are adorable and unique.
@@SalvableRuin yeah but this is a rare one
@@SalvableRuin The echidna is one of only two mammals in the entire world that lay eggs, the other being the platypus. Extremely unique animal
@@SalvableRuinAll but two mammals (one being echidna) don't lay eggs
@@PaigesBookofTravelsit’s not unique if there are two. And actually there are three.
This is extremely rare footage of knuckles the echidna floating on water...
I wonder how many people including me knew what a echidna is through Knuckles.
Someone threw the unfortunate echidna into the water.
Knuckles can swim. Sonic:
hahaha dude what an EPIC comment. i am rolling on the floor laughing. i'm under your bed and in your walls.
The least cringest Sonic fan 👆
Does Knuckles think the master emerald is underwater
Aquatic Mine
Man’s going for a refreshing swim! He’s got the built-in snorkel and he’s quite a silly fellow!
Knuckles is going for a swim, searching for the lost pieces of the Master Emerald!
they have hollow air filled quills which help them float quite like hedgehogs, they have their own little floaties
Wrong.

Suppose their closest relative is the platypus, so makes sense they can swim a bit.
but is not nearly as good as a platypus
Sonic:Knuckles, what are you doing.
Knuckles: swimming
Sonic 2 was factually accurate and I appreciate that.
Wow! That was really wild. I didn't know they could swim! He looked like he was having a goodtime, too!
Never knew they could swim. That Echidna better taker care, I don't want it to be eaten by a shark or salty croc.
Being able to swim must be a trait that the Echidna shares with their cousin the platypus

@@DibbzTheLoner well actually if you look at an echidna then you'd notice that your "common ancestor" isn't relevant whatsoever.
The most of animals can swim.

lil dude was not letting some giant boat break his rhythm, awesome
That is adorable.
his long sniffer is like a snorkel xD
This is insane, they definitely don't look like a swimmer!
I thought the title said swimming enchilada and got a bit confused
They look so fat and wobbly. I'd never heard of them until a week ago. Animal videos are the best, wombats, raccoons, ducks and kids. So cute. 🥰🥰
Knuckles swims for the first time 😅
He’s at Hydrocity zone looking for the emeralds
Wow - thanks so much for filming this!
