Complete Race - 2 Hours of Lelystad 14 July 2018

Kartcentrum Lelystad Karting - On July 14th 2018 Advanced Racing Project drivers Justin Rotte, Berend Stofferis and Olaf Stofferis finished second in the ‘2 Hours of Lelystad’ endurance race held at Kartcentrum Lelystad. This video shows the complete race footage. The team used kart #24 (type: RT8).
Race Report:
This race marked Olaf’s first appearance at Kartcentrum Lelystad, and to give him time to adjust to the layout, he took up qualifying for team ARP. Using kart #24, he managed to drive the fifth fasted time of the field. Olaf stayed in the kart for the race opening and managed to stay fifth amidst the arm wrestling in the opening lap. Over the course of the initial stint, team ARP gained positions due to spins or pitstops of competitors ahead. At the same time some trailing teams managed to pass again, nullifying any progress. Upon entering the pits for the first driver change in lap 43, Olaf had managed to consolidate fifth position. The time in the pits dropped the team to seventh. Justin now started on a long charge through the field, overtaking competitors on track one by one, eventually settling for third by lap 72. The battle for second position with team Bakker Racing proved tougher; a ten second gap separated both teams at this point, with drivers putting in comparable lap times. Justin got promoted to second in lap 107 due to a pitstop by Bakker Racing, but when Berend exited the pits after the driver change in lap 114, the situation was reverted once more. Both teams still had one obligatory pitstop left, which mitigated the on track battle. Only by lap 158, when Bakker Racing concluded their final pitstop and re-entered the track just in front of Berend, the fight for position ignited. A backmarker unlapping himself shortly stalled the battle, but by lap 166 team ARP finally succeeded in snatching second place. Two laps later, the checkered flag followed.
Due to an error, the timing system only stopped recording track activity until after the cooldown lap. This means any switches in track positions taking place after the checkered flag mistakenly got registered as legitimate passes within race time. The results shown in the video have been adjusted to account for that, i.e. displayed are the true finishing positions.

hey! heb je tips voor die chicane. vandaag 3 heats gedaan (met kinderkarts op de baan e.d.) maar heb hem toch niet onder de 42.8 gekregen en jullie racepace ligt rond de 42. Heb het gevoel dat ik het meeste verlies bij de chicane

De chicane is inderdaad een lastige bocht! Ik probeer altijd goed aan de linkerkant te zitten voordat ik naar rechts instuur. Een stuk afsnijden over de kerb in de midden van de bocht helpt mij ook altijd om de rondetijd naar beneden te brengen.
