Herbs and essential oils: Herbs like thyme, cloves, cinnamon, and rosemary can deter leaf-cutter ants and drive them away from your property (and your precious plants). The same is true for essential oils like Wintergreen. Hope this helps jamie

Wow Jami, hope you get that ant situation under control real fast. Fire ants are bad, but these guys can strip every plant you got in a matter of days. Maybe put a barrier around the greenhouse as soon as possible.

Jami you need to try straight vinegar spray. Then spray where you don't want them plus go a long hill side fence & plant wild flowers & Marigolds that way maybe they will stay over there. GB y'all wishing you luck you win this war.😅😊

I had a terrible ant issue and had tried everything on the market. I finally had success with a product to kill the whole mound. They take it back to the nest mound and it kills them too. It’s ZORRO and I liked the flat with the bait on top. They destroyed my trees but I saved some. Dit: had I tried the ZORRO sooner I would have saved moor trees and bushes.

Add citrus rinds (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit) to a pot, then add white vinegar to cover. Gently the mixture until it's steaming, but not boiling. Turn off the stove and let the mix sit for several hours to overnight. Strain the liquid and pour it into a spray bottle, then store it in the refrigerator.

We had a trail of those in our backyard several years ago. They made a trail that went catty-cornered across our whole backyard. I did what you did. I sprinkled Sevin dust heavily on them. A few days later they were back and had just moved their trail over about 3 feet and still ran across the whole lot. There were woods behind our house too. They even ran across a raised flower bed on their way. We tried several things but I never knew what got rid of them but I don't see them or a trail now.❤

I've read up on leaf cutter ants now and these little beggars has enemies that can pick them off a lot more nature friendly than chemicals. Ant eaters for one, if you can save an ant eater it can eat out a nest of ants in no time. Some birds eat ants, among them chickens! You may have to call Cog Hill Farm for this, but Jason noted in one of his videos that the chickens actually ate a fire ant nest to extinction, so why not leaf cutter ants? A horrible way to kill an underground ant hill is to gas it, but it may harm the surrounding nature in big areas, since they have such massive nests. You may end up killing more trees and forest than the ants themselves. So I would go for chickens or ant eaters first, before trying more radical methods! The best of luck to you, Jami! ❤❤❤❤❤

This is a terrifying situation. As in all things, at least in my mind, knowledge is power. I would post a message on the neighborhood page you mentioned in earlier videos, asking if anyone else has dealt with or heard about this type destruction and how to successfully deal wiith it. I would also approach all staff in stores that sell plants re treatment that is safe around your animals. Of course Steph might have some valuable input. Posting a link to your video on the Morrow Hill] page could be beneficial re gathering information. Your County Extension office might have a treatment plan available. If there's a locall hardware store, feed store or bait shop where local old-timers hangout (and often drink coffee), I would approach them + share your video + ask for their thoughts and suggestions. (I am not being disrespectful when I say 'old-timer'. I am 73 so my age puts me in that category. Unfortunately I am not knowledgeable in this situation. Local old-timers often have wonderful nuggets of info that can be amazing.) The guy that recently explained everything with your well vs silt issue is from the area. He and many other long-term residents could also be possible sources for info re this type infestion. Of course an exterminator is an option but I presumed a less toxic approach seemed to be preferred since it wasn't mentioned. Good luck with this challenge. I have no doubt it will be dealt with in typical Jami-style. (Hopefully it will not involve anyone reppelling down the drop-off to track the path of devastion to their destination.)

Because these ants eat only the fungus they cultivate, they do not respond to most other ant baits, such as those labeled for fire ants. A special formulation of hydramethylnon, sold under the trade name Amdro® Ant Block, is currently the only widely available bait product labeled for control of leaf cutting ants.

      Deltagard Granules
Deltagard granules are one of the very few pesticides labeled for use against leaf cutter ants. The granules contain deltamethrin, an effective and fairly safe insecticide that targets the central nervous system of insects. Once the ants contact and absorb the chemical, their nervous system is sent into shock causing paralysis and eventually death.
The granules can be spread out along the leaf cutting ant walking trails and the mounds. Then you saturate the granules with water which helps the pesticide mix with the soil and take effect. The result is certain death for ants that come into contact with the area.

We had 2 years in a row of tent caterpillars which stripped the forests and town trees and plants. The hung from trees and would drop down on you. I went nearly bonkers when that happened to me. The roads and sidewalks were slick like oil from being squashed.
It makes me angry seeing those ants carrying your plants off. I hope someone can help you with a killer solution!

Holy Cow! I've never seen or had leaf cutter ants before. I know it works with some ants. Try fire ash from some of the burn piles. I think it dries them out or something like that. I know it will detour them.

Tht is crazy! Lester just posted a video the other day of ants actually carrying corn, seed, etc into some holes. He actually followed them, maybe they’re the same ones? I’m thankful tht I don’t have those things. Hopefully u can get rid of them ASAP

😳😳😳🤦‍♀️😢…. Try putting grits around the plants. Ants will eat it and blow up inside
