She absolutely does not deserve any of the stuff happening in these comments. She's not naysaying water birth or that it can be a beautiful experience. She's saying that none of it was what she thought it was or expected it to be, and she decided to go a different route the second time that thankfully was better for her.

Maybe it’s the fact that she said “I feel like the hippies lied to me“… That’s pretty much saying “this isn’t such a good thing guys, don’t listen to the hype!“. She’s making water birthday look bad.

Breathing and being in upright positions is what got me through all 3 of my natural births. I used a pool for 2, 1 was born as I was climbing into the pool but, none were born in the water like I hoped. I breathed all my babies down. I have never pushed and never had a baby "stuck." Look into hypnobirthing and get informed about about the physiology of birth and all your options. Whatever makes you feel most safe, relaxed and stress free is what you should choose. That is what will help labour progress.

My friend accidentally had a home water birth. Contractions were still too far apart to head toward the hospital so Dr. suggested she take a bath to help things along. Well, it helped a lil too much and dad helped mom delivery in the tub while EMS was on the way. 18 minutes from the time she got in the tub to the time baby was out. I don't think she is trying to win a prize. I know my comment wasn't meant this way. So many times people share the hard things about giving birth. The things that go wrong. Yes, I had 4 kids naturally but that wasn't easy. It was hard. They weren't perfect. But I also like to encourage women and let them know that it's hard for a short time. But it's beautiful. The hard is worth it. Our bodies were made to do this. Just because someone shares their story doesn't mean they are trying to be nasty about it. You don't know someone's intentions through a computer.

It’s disgusting. That kind of toxicity is what makes women more scared of giving birth or feel guilty after giving birth if they did it “an alternative way” when really it doesn’t matter how you gave birth.
