Seetharamaiah Gari Manavaralu is a Telugu Drama Film produced by V. Doraswamiraju on VMC Productions banner and directed by Kranthi Kumar, starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Rohini Hattangadi, Meena in the lead roles. The film was showcased among the Indian panorama section at the 1991 International Film Festival of India. The film won three South Filmfare Awards and four Nandi Awards. The film is remade as Malayalam movie Sandhwanam (1991), as Kannadamovie Belli Modagalu(1992) and as Hindi movie Udhaar Ki Zindagi (1994).
Seetharamaiah Gari Manavaralu Plot:
Seetharamaiah (ANR) is a landlord in Sitarampuram village. His wife is Janakamma (Rohini) and son is Srinivas Murthy (Raja). There are differences between the father and Son regarding the Son's marriage. Unable to deceive Sumathi (son love), Srinivas Murthy marries her and leaves the village as Seetharamaiah wanted to convey his unhappiness to his son by not speaking with him. After a gap of 20 long years, his daughter Seeta (Meena) arrives in the village to attend a marriage function. Though Sitaramayya still carries the pain of his son's denial on the marriage proposed by him, he likes his son a lot, he develops a liking for his granddaughter, but doesn't express openly. Whereas Janakamma expresses her love openly. After seeing the affection and the love she is receiving from her grandparents, and how much her grandparents are looking forward to meet their son (seeta's father Srinivas Murthy), Seeta could not convey the message of his father & Mother's death (due to road accident) to Sitaramaiah & Janakamma.

2024.... There were numerous reasons why this movie could be an eternal piece of art. Everything was a highlight. Even when performers like ANR stood alone, I found Rohinis performance the best. It might be because the emotional attachment every grandson/daughter has with their grandmother overshadowed everything. She was successful in reflecting it.

Now it’s 2024. Even today I am seeing the best scenes in this movie. ANR’s beautiful performance, Meena’s excellent acting at such a small age. One of the rarest movies any Telugu person can miss. Inspite of a Tamilian, I just feel my friends how they are missing it, just can’t understand Telugu. Simple but powerful dialogues, emotional scenes. One of the best performances of ANR.

M.M .Keeravani was not given free hand may be due to commercial reasons. First Song has Influence of Ilayaraja,Second song of Mama Mahadevan,Third Song of Chakravarthi, Fourth Song of T.ChalapathiRao, Fifth Song has Chakravarthi Folklore. Could be due to his early years of Composition as Music Director. Kranthi Kumar always had Chakravarthi as his Music Director despite his busy schedule and brand name of commercial music. Surprisingly even after lyrics content specifying Shehnai (Sannayi), in first song, no where Keeravani included that instrument for interludes,not even for back ground score. His 1995 Hindi movie Criminal score proved his mettle,later 1997 Annamayya established him as successful talented professional.
