I'm posting from my dressing room at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley,CA. The club recently reopened in its new space, and it's one of the best sounding rooms of its kind in the country. The song choice may be a little obvious, but why not. It's a true story of the gold rush first printed in a Rhode Island periodical- I think the man's name was Brown Owen. Cordelia's Dad recorded it first in 1992 on the Joy Fun Garden CD on the German label Normal. We recorded it again for the CD Comet, which was on a cobbled together bunch of labels including Normal and Omnium. It was intended to be an all acoustic CD, but Normal wanted some rock songs. Both the European and US releases contain the song Jersey City but the European version also features the songs Hush and Three Snake Leaves, which were released in the US only as a 7" on Scenescof records. Fascinating, eh? Cordelia's Dad has long specialized in creating collectors' items- I imagine the collectors will be here any day now. Видеоклипы
It almost brings me to tears...
So beautiful!
Tim, you are making me very, very homesick! with love from a transported Californian in Kansas City...
Beautiful playing and singing as usual. Please keep them coming.
with a title like this, it's clear this song is supposed to be moody but there's something about all appalachian style songs that makes me feel a little sad. really beautiful anyhow. and this is the only folk music i like a male voice in...thank you. subscribed.
Very nice, Tim. Deeply touching and beautiful :)
oh man tim just gets better and better the more i listnen to him .. a true genius
Nice pelican. He did not seem to mind you taking a video of him. Maybe he is some sort of celebrity fishing bird or something.
One of my favorite Cordelia's Dad collector items is a red golf tee with Cordelia's Dad written on it. You used to hand them out at shows. I have never played golf and it sits in my beer fridge for some strange reason.
Pelican's just really like amazing music, he wasn't going to miss out on Tim performance!
beautiful bird there at the end :)
THIS IS TIM FROM BIG BLUE,THIS IS RAW,PURE,HARD CORE,GREAT MUSIC
I didn't know it was unusual. I mean it was unusual for me because we don't have any pelicans in western MA that I'm aware of, but this one gave the impression that this is pretty much all he does all day. Maybe he'll be there tomorrow...
This is great! Thank you!!!
#410 in the Sacred Harp, words by Kate Harris, tune by Ball & Drinkard
I always hopped he played and sang it
This song is life changing
Took me forever to find that tune. I had muddled through most of the tune but the d-f#-A and few eighth notes that bump back down after that, well, I'm only 'paper trained' and playing by ear is not my forte :) thanks
I'M the local. And YOU'RE the one who's been able to get that close to a pelican... jealous*
Should be the state song. Nice job.
Has it not been a long time you did these kind of recordings Tim? If so maybe it's time for some more. I keep coming back to them I love the feel.
Cheers buddy.

Good to hear. Thanks!
Do you give autographs, Tim? I'm going to buy all your albums, and next time I see you at a sing, it'd be great to get one of them signed. Also, I had no idea you were a professor! I wish I had my shit together like you; I can't think of a better thing to devote myself to.
@MrBaluba53 Dziekuje!
it's GDgd...
How were you able to get that close to a pelican??
What is the cross-tuning for this one? DDAD?
That's the tuning for a dulcimer.
Great song. You have all my admiration.
Could you write the chords? Im trying with the guitar.
Best wishes from Málaga! :)
No chords, at least as I understand it. Just the tune, with whatever else feels good.
