The bell tone is with the MAEH (Multi-Alert Sounder Strobe With Electromechanichal Tone) sounder strobes, the MASS's counterpart with different tones inclding the factory default electromechanical tone.
03:16 And also in Germany, the tone would be a swept frequency tone (reverse slow whoop but faster) or the DIN (Believe it stands for: Downward In Noise) tone like for example a tone sweep of 1200 Hz to 500 Hz in 1.5 seconds with no short silence interruptions per sweep
If I were to redesign the mass, I would make the strobe multi-candela, make the tone controls a rotary switch just like other Honeywell fire alarm products, have a jumper instead of break tabs, make it fully sync-able even in 2 wire mode, and add an 800Hz T3 tone.
I think if they ever redesigned it they should add code 3 being that the biggest selling point for the MASS is compatibility across nations. If it had a code 3 of any kind I think it would be a perfect alarm.
That is the one issue I have with the MASS is that gigantic strobe with all of its gnarly flash tubes and reflectors. It draws your attention way too easily when it's sitting there silent.
My intermediate school back in 2004 had these in hi-lo in Ohio. The only thing that was different is that they had these strange projector bull horns attached to the alarm that allowed the alarm noise to be projected further. It looked similar to an old simplex alarm that was jerryrigged on these. I think it was done to cut down on the actual number of alarms in the building. The thing I remember was that those things echoed through the halls really strangely. They were replaced the year after I left, because I don't think the fire marshal was too pleased with the strange jerryrigging job the district did on them. They were the loudest/creepiest alarms I have ever experienced. And my high school had Spectralert Advances, and way too many of them at that.
@@WheeloveFireAlarms trust me I don't think they were supposed to be mounted to them. I distinctly remember the projector's covered the strobes. It was clearly a really crappy installation job. By 2005 I believe they had Gentex Commander 3's in the building because of it.
@@WheeloveFireAlarms I'm also remembering the fact that District had to install strobe only alarms around the building because the strobe was covered by the projector. I want to say it had classic spectralert strobes around the building. But I know the horns had strobes on them as well because you'd look in the center of the projector and see it flashing... I also remember it malfunctioning a lot. In my fourth grade year I distinctly remember having four fire drills a month because the system would keep going off. I haven't been in that building since 2004. However I think replacing the system probably was a good thing. I do know what ever it has has Commander 3s on it
My local Osh that’s now closed used to have these(the old square one with a vertical frosted strobe) and Wheelock Exceder HSR’s, I assume the Exceder HSR’s replaced some of the MASSes
Those to me are the scariest fire horns ever. Especially when they are set to continuous low tone, and sound off along with other horns in a building, with the same setting. They date back to the late 80s or early 90s for those that are wondering.
I like your videos but not subscribed do you want me to subscribe and I will and I'll do it right now but I can't because my things getting too full but I would at least like the video and I'll comment again

I love the 800hz sound!
Sirens of Finland i like the 800hz tone in code 3
It sometimes sounds like a Modulator lol
I actually LOVE the huge strobe design. It looks so 90's/2000's futuristic, so awesome, and I love it
Awsome video! And yes that is a MASSive strobe
The reason I think this fire alarm is awesome is because it has a lot of features. I have 2 of them. VERY NICE VIDEO!!!!!

This Is My Favorite Alarm! I Got One For Christmas and I Really Love it!
Reminds me of my childhood intermediate school.
They had these things set in hi-lo all around the building.
It scared the crap out of 3rd grade me.

And I would also use an LED strobe, there would be ceiling mount models and a snap-on mounting bracket feature like the Advances and L-Series use
The Clips can Be Removed but it Isn’t Permanent. But I do Like the Idea of Redesigning the MASS, They are Very Amazing.
Nice! A local building has those in a speaker-strobe.
This was before spectralert. Found out through WayBackMachine. The in 1997 this alarm turned into the spectralert alarms.
I think if they ever redesigned it they should add code 3 being that the biggest selling point for the MASS is compatibility across nations. If it had a code 3 of any kind I think it would be a perfect alarm.
I like the ones with the vertical frosted strobes more.

f1fan112 huh! Interesting! I’ve never heard of a projector being mounted on these. Thanks for sharing!

Um yes we have it in the magnet center in franklin high school in el paso tx

I hope to get one soon!
Great videos keep the good work up
We call them sounder beacons but sounder strobe is the same
I like the older style ma-ss
Also they wouldn't use these in Europe lol
Could you do a review of a system sensor specter alert advanced?! I'm Planning on getting those for my system!
Please do a fire alarm reveal
the alarms that were at columbine before it was renovated in 2020
theres a frosted strobe version of this
I agree they are nice alarms. Where can I submit entries for fire alarm fails if I don't have instagram?
Is it possible to just buy the strobe that is compatible with another MASS such as an MA-12/24 DR?
I don't think they will ever redesign this.. its old.. (almost every motel/hotel in cape cod, MA has these. Along with MT/AS .
Does that have multi candela?

I think there cool but it just looks kinda funny I don’t care but it just looks funny in a way Anthony really cool Alarm
Can that alarm do code 3?
No
@@alexandersalarms5380 It can, but only if the panel is coded to code-3 on the NAC
How’s Jessica doin
One question when is fire alarm fails?
weelove fire alarms when it comes out
wow
Cool!
I have one that is similar! Also cool video! There is also a MAEH that can do a bell tone
Nice! I didn’t know that!
"Its the newest in my collection"
In my opinion, it might be an old one
That was a good review.

Looks more like a toy than a fire alarm
