I worked in Wyoming for a number of years, and kept a fishing license for exactly that purpose, to catch my dinner. Catching and smoking trout was my favorite pastime in Wyoming. Sand burrs popped my bicycle tires in Casper, and that's when I learned of a product called "Slime," a green gloop that is put inside tubes and tires to seal holes. I currently live in Mexico, and am based in Texas. But I've been considering bringing my motorcycle and my Tahoe and setting up a little cabin in the woods as a base, to drive roads and see the parks. Once, many years ago, I visited Devil's Tower, which has it's own post office. I took hundreds of photographs of the sunrise from the roadside about a half mile before the actual landmark, between the sun and the tower. As the horizon shadow started at the top of the tower, and as the sun came up behind me, the line of light traveled down the tower until the tower was the only thing lit, no ground before me seeing direct sunlight yet. Then... Like magic... The sun's light finally reached me where I stationed myself, and a big beautiful mule deer was standing in the road, close to me, between me and the tower. I got lots of pictures of that. I then drove to the post office at the base of the tower... And met the lady postmaster. Her vehicle was 4 wheel drive, and she let me use her vehicle to drive to the top up the road that twisted around to the left to go up to the backside. I had given the lady my keys to help her feel more comfortable about her offer to me to let me drive her vehicle up to the tip. I passed the park ranger on my way up, and he knew whose vehicle that was... He was almost panicking. I thought "Oh crap. He's going to turn around and pull me out at gunpoint." But he was nowhere to be seen after I returned from taking my photos up there. The postmaster must have explained the deal, showed him my keys, and probably left without a worry. Maybe he searched my vehicle to see if I was ok. I mean... They had my keys. I don't know, don't care. Because, I did get to go up to the top of the road, which, doesn't actually go to the top of the tower. You can't climb to the top of the tower, unless you are a well outfitted rock climber. That tower comes straight out of the ground all the way around. After 15 minutes up at the back, I got my photos and came back down, and traded keys back with the postmaster. I kept gushing about how beautiful it was up there. She was smiling as if to say, "Yeah... I know..." Something else that happened, probably that same year... I went up a mountain highway, parked and got out to look out on the plains from my perch. A lady stopped to check on me to see if I was alright. "Yes, I'm ok! I'm just taking pictures." We got into a conversation about the elk hunting, and she invited me to come hunting at her big property. She and her husband owned an enormous spread, where they helped manage a herd of wild free range elk that preferred to stay on their property. She gave me her phone number and I hate that I never did take her up on that. I had my brother and his two sons all hankering for an elk hunt on her land... It just never materialized. In Laramie, I met a couple who owned a tack store. They were interested in the book I was writing at that time. They allowed me to take photos of their store for my book. I believe if I moved there, to SOMEWHERE in Wyoming, the creative juices would begin to flow again, and I'd be extremely happy and productive there. Mexico is sucking the life out of me. The outdoor life in Wyoming... That's what I'm interested in. And the people are so real, so nice. And protective of one another. And the food. Oh my God. Some of the best food in the country. Maybe even, the BEST food in the country. I've spent $400 at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Beverly Hills, CA,, when I took 3 friends out to dinner... But those steaks pale in comparison to the $35 steaks in even the most modest family owned steakhouses in Wyoming. 🦌 🐃 🐟 Oh, forget it. Wyoming, here I come.

As a Carpenter that has built 100's of homes over 30+ years, I began to notice a lot more apprentices just couldn't hang. Lots of entitled kids since about 2008. 30 years ago I would've had no problem getting a handful of capable guys to help me move furniture, do any repairs, clean, etc for a few burgers and beers. Now I'm having to do it myself due to lack of capable guys that don't want $200+/day each. It's ok cuz it's the last time I'll ever do it. "Gonna build me a home where the buffalo roam"...

I have family out in Casper and yes, Wyoming is spectacularly gorgeous. It's truly an outdoorsman's paradise. There's nothing you can't do there, from ice and fly fishing to hunting....but man, I gotta tell you, for 9 months out of the year, that place is cold, cold, COLD....and windy too. I think I'll stay right where I am down here in Texas.
Yes Sir ! For real, I lived in Wyoming for over 25 years, loved it , but in the last 5 years the state has been on a steady down hill course, its turned into a Train Wreck, COVID did serious damage that they still havent recovered from, The State is in Economic Free Fall, lots of people moving out of the State, due to the lack of jobs, and the crazy high rents and prices of homes, double digit unemployment numbers are common in most of the towns, We moved to East Texas and absolutely love it here, its the opposite of Wyoming, and a much better place to live.
Casper was alright I enjoyed seeing the mountains and the people were a lot friendlier most times . Couldn't see why people called some places the hood tho in Casper being from Texas.
I'm from Montana , Been thinking about Wyoming to retire but, High winds and White Out snow blizzards are something I must consider , Don't think I would care for that, Change my mind.
How about Buffalo? I and my late husband always planned vacations there. Retired and lived in Buffalo 2002, 2004 Coming from Wisconsin, we know about cold, wind and snow. I still love Wyoming. 🤠🐎 and the mountains ⛰
I live in Ohio and ever since moving to remote work i feel like it is now my chance to get the heck outta here! Have no kids or mortgage and have always wanted to move to a less populated and rural area. People think it's strange because I'm 33 and they'd assume I'd wanna move to the city. It's so expensive in the city and crime is high. I'd rather live in a quiet peaceful area surrounded by good people and then take a weekend trip to the city few times a year
We drove for miles without passing any type of vehicle or seeing another human being when driving through Montana some 50 years ago (Great-grampa was a town marshal in Montana about 130 or so in Montana, a deputy sheriff and Indian agent in Idaho later). I'm guessing Wyoming has fewer life encounters? A friend uses the one word to express his feelings on Wyoming: bleak! I was last in Wyoming when I was . . . It was 61 years ago. It's nice to know nothing has changed. Between dad's people and mom's people every two to three and a half years we passed back and forth on furlough. Dad and mom were your typical clandestine operatives overseas, dad also big into gurilla warfare, mostly in Southeast Asia. Probably half the people that retired from the Federal Government who are in their 80'' and 90's would have known them. I'm still looking for a place to move after my wife passes. I really can't live in Virginia anymore. I hate Marxist governments! Which Virginia has now become!
You win me over just by saying that there are more antelope & deer alone there than people. Not a hunter or fisher, but I do love all the terrain and beauty and not to mention solitude that states has to offer. Been thinking about it for a while. It might be a great place to go once I'm retired.
Great video, thank you. I've only been through Wyoming a few times but have always been drawn to it, as I'm more of a nature/rural lover rather than a city person and don't care for too many people. Just want some land for my animals. Would be a stark contrash from Arizona!
We were thinking of moving to Wyoming so, we took a trip out there. Our experience was terrible, the people were rude and very prejudice. Laramie on the other hand was very nice. Nice people and a beautiful city.
From experience, you can’t be a Democrat and live in Wyoming! I had just moved there when President Obama was running for President the first term. I heard some of the worst hate speech I’ve ever heard in my life! The “n” word was used by some people regularly in their normal conversations. It occurred on my jobs, in restaurants, in bars; really, everywhere. The word that comes to mind for me of my almost 9:yeats in Wyoming is “disrespect”. By the time I left, I swore to never cross even a corner of that state again. BTW, it was not just bigotry, but misogyny, and homophobia, etc.
I am so sorry to hear that. Understand that teachers in the Midwest are much more highly respected than teachers in the west. As an outsider and teacher, you will be viewed with more than a little suspicion.
I'm a black republican from AL I love Wyoming so much. I can't fish because of the pollution. I love the snow and love raging winds. I am also a vegan. But before I move there I think I may need a gf first so I won't get lonely ._.
I have been anamoured with the rockies since my grandparents moved their family to Denver Colorado in the 1950's and we started going there every year on vacation. Then I had an Aunt and Uncle in Cheyenne, WY I would go every August to fish for over ten years they are gone now, I have thought many times about moving there but have never been there in winter and now I am older (76) and the cold would probably kill me.
I'm coming. It'll be a few more years, but I'm coming. What this pandemic panic has given me was the realization that I can do my job from my home office and the knowledge of how to do it pretty darn effectively. That also means means that I will no longer be forced to live in or too near to a large city. Yay! Electrical Transmission and Distribution Engineering. I'll help keep the lights on.

We have been visiting Colorado for years and out of NM, NV, AZ, it was still high on our list to move to from Illinois. We visited Wyoming last year and I personally love the lower population a lot and being tax friendly. My wife on the other hand wants to move to a warmer location like NV or AZ. The record al time high in Laramie is 94 degrees. My wife is from FL and had a hard time realizing that she will never again have to deal with triple digit temperatures. The winters are not IMO, as miserable as those in IL when the wind comes off the lake. All in all, I much prefer WY To the midwest. Right now it is a red hot real estate market with people realizing that if they can work remotely from their present home they can work remotely from WY.

I've lived on both coasts, almost drowned in both oceans(RIP TIDES!), but first moved to Colorado in the early 2000's. I took a job just 10 miles from the Colorado/Wyoming state lines, north of FT. Collins, brutal weather. I needed to be closer so I moved north to Cheyenne. Now, at 6,000+ feet elevation, you gotta go out of your way to drown here. It happens, see lakes and rivers, but generally you have to go out of your way, as opposed to any ocean, oceans want to kill you.
Alisha, you're a great agent, but I had to get out. I never got used to the desert. Growing up with the lush foliage of the east, I couldn't handle the parched landscape. For those who like the desert, Casper is a great place. Thanks for your help selling our house.
I would LOVE to move to Wyoming, I've dreamed of it for years. However, I doubt it will ever happen because my long time girlfriend is tied to her job and she doesn't want to leave.
While I've never been to WY, one of the very few states I've not been to, it does seem to very attractive. However, with low population comes with no Costco for convenience of shopping for great quality of products. With low population comes with low or no German vehicle service centers. In additon, are there any supercars in WY? I know MT has a lot registered there, maybe they don't reside there ... It is a matter of priorities ! ! !
I'm curious whether outside ice skating is something people do in Casper. When I was a kid in Montana the city park would make a rink by running water on concrete. In fact my dad did same on our concrete patio. BTW, we like your videos and are hoping to relocate there.
I'm actually working on that. This has a huge learning curve so I am just learning as much as I can quickly. Thank you for the feedback and thank you for watching.

That's like a 180-degree change in lifestyles. I grew up in Jersey and live in Colorado but will be moving to WY when I can. I like nature better than people.
Draw a line from the northeast corner to the southwest corner. With a few exceptions, you can forget about anything on the southeast side of that line. That would include Casper and Cheyenne. BTW, they are called Pronghorns.
I'm a Colorado native. But can't afford land in Wyoming. It went up about 300 percent in the last 2 years. So no thanks. It would take 2 life times to pay for any decent land. Being a conservative I don't think it would be affordable anymore. Too many Californicators driving the prices too high.
Here’s what I love about Wyoming, it takes but minutes to leave the city’s far behind. How many remember the blizzard shelters that were equipped with food, blankets and firewood?
@@alishacollinsrealestate they were a safe haven for travelers during the winter, doors never locked, small space maybe 8x10, small wood stove. Then came the busses from Berkeley and other foul places, over the years theft vandalism and fire pretty much did it. Last one I remember was in the late 80s or early 90s between Jeffery and Casper. How things change.
Chris LeDoux is the best when it to Western and Rodeo music. I met him in Phoenix Az. . Been thinking of moving back to Cheyenne , I lived there in the early 70's when my dad was stationed at Frances E Warren USAF Base.
Hey Alisha, there is an old Indian proverb that tells the story of a small bird that fly's south for the winter too late and gets caught in a snow storm, he falls to the earth and begins to freeze and die when a buffalo walks by and craps on top of him, soon he begins to warm and sing, a coyote hears this, unburies and eats him. There are several lessons to be learned here, 1. Not everyone that craps on you is your enemy. 2. Not everyone who gets you out of crap is your friend and 3. If you find your self in a warm, safe place in life.......Keep your damn mouth shut. I know your just trying to make money but the last thing we need in Wyoming is a bunch assholes moving here and ruining the place.
You don't have to worry. Wyoming will remain a place for only "some" people. Lots of folks think they love wide open spaces and the peace of their own thoughts (no people), but they usually only like those things as a momentary respite (vacation). Once it becomes 24/7, they tire of it and leave. Other than Cheyenne, Laramie, and perhaps Casper or Sheridan, Wyoming is simply far too sparsely populated (and no stores, restaurants, etc) for most people.
Born and raised in South Florida. I'm a 15 year police officer who is over the big city life. I see the beauty Wyoming has to offer and i'm definitely considering retiring to Casper. I just have to make my way out there during a few winters to see if it's a viable option.
@@joes0406 well that's the big question. I do like the cold, I've spent some winters in Norway but there's a difference between visiting the cold and living in it.

I'm from Tampa and i've lived in Florida for my entire 31 years of life. It's so crowded here and big money developers have ruined much of our scenic beaches. And every year it seems like the ultra humid summers get longer and the winters get shorter. In short, states like Wyoming, Idaho and Montana and the Dakotas seem like a nice change imo.
I grew up in Miami, FL. I left over 20 years ago to move to Narragansett, RI. It was nice for awhile, but it became so overcrowded, and the winters are non existent. I love snow, BTW. I'm moving to WY now. The area is 7,000' elevation, and rarely gets above 80 F in the middle of summer. At night it goes down to between 35 F to 40 F, in the summer. Right now there's about 4'-5' of snow on the ground.
@@joshtaylor9884 Instead few wet snows, rain/snow mix, this area gets a between 1-3" of powdery snow almost daily through mid March. Beginning in mid to late November, the ground starts disappearing until spring. It's also windy, and very cold, due to wind, "real feel". It's not for everyone though. It can feel a bit isolated, since population is low.
@Laura Buchanan Montana and Idaho have warmer weather and some areas have bigger cities that are easily accessible! Wyoming has lots more wind and is colder. Winters can be brutal. Both Idaho and Montana are beautiful states! I could easily live in either state. I love Wyoming, but you have to be able to tolerate the wind!😀
Currently living in a state that will tax my pension when I start receiving it next year. Wyoming is a state that does not tax pensions nor social security. Also the state does not tax 401K either. With the Federal Reserve jacking up interest rates, busting up the Real Estate Market, and destroying the portfolios of millions of stock investors, some proactive retirement moves need to be done. With the interest rates so high, this would be an awful time to buy. So, renting a house would be a high priority as long as rent is affordable.
Alisha, ... how are the bugs in Wyoming ?? I assume it's not like a state like Florida, ... and I would think that the colder winter months would "kill off" some of them, ... but then I've heard that there is still critters there, in abundance.

WY is a very White state, low minority population (except in Lander and Riverton near the Wind River Reservation) but most people are pretty color blind.
He's going to turn around and pull me out at gunpoint."
But he was nowhere to be seen after I returned from taking my photos up there.
I know..."
Something else that happened, probably that same year...

Only the upper midwest (northern MN, northern WI, and the UP of MI) are IMO possessed of a decent climate in the summer. Yes, Chicago is a large urban area and cannot be used to judge regional rural areas or smaller cities but the climate remains the same. I made my choice and am glad of it.

Please STOP publishing these videos! We don’t what Wyoming to become like the rest of this country!!!
100%!!! STOP
We can't wait, I miss the cold so much. Hurricanes, hurricanes and more hurricanes ain't my thing.
I just walked through snow coming down sideways but I still love it here! Thank you for watchng!
I'll visit Wyoming shortly. I love the serenity as seen in this video. I hope to have a beautiful time there. From Nigeria, West Africa.
Look me up when you get here! Thank you for watching!
@@alishacollinsrealestate alrighty! Yay!
The weather is the opposite of Nigeria and they don't even like american out of staters much less out of country...
Also visiting from Africa, Pretoria 🇿🇦
Currently living in a state that will tax my pension when I start receiving it next year. Wyoming is a state that does not tax pensions nor social security. Also the state does not tax 401K either. With the Federal Reserve jacking up interest rates, busting up the Real Estate Market, and destroying the portfolios of millions of stock investors, some proactive retirement moves need to be done. With the interest rates so high, this would be an awful time to buy. So, renting a house would be a high priority as long as rent is affordable.
I can do all those things in Phoenix and still be in a major metropolitan area and not freeze my butt off
Like fish? I don’t think so!
You have to like steady 110 degrees in the summer in Phoenix. It’s a trade off.
Alisha, ... how are the bugs in Wyoming ?? I assume it's not like a state like Florida, ... and I would think that the colder winter months would "kill off" some of them, ... but then I've heard that there is still critters there, in abundance.
Wyoming is our goal!
YAY! Look me up when you come to town! Even for a visit!
@@alishacollinsrealestate It will be awhile I will continue to watch your videos! We crave open spaces and strong values!
Nice my brother just moved to Montana nice state as well Wyoming always caught my eye I'm tired of the city
I have news for everyone , not all Californians like California or vote Democrat lol. Maybe we'll get lucky and it will break off and fall in the ocean ' just not before I get out of here.
I lived in Wyoming about 5 years ago and Medicine Bow and in Cheyenne. I really would love to buy some land up there and come back.
Do it now. Some time later, we will be older, money will be worth less.

Yeah but you're not explaining WHY. Don't just throw out random statistics. Give us the reasons as to WHY that is happening.
Fortunately you're NOT required to participate... what an ASININE thing to focus on...😐🙄

I don't care why it happens. If you want to look into it by all means do so. I'm just stating a fact.
All gun manufacturers should move to Wyoming. Can't wait to retire and move to this state.
Its funny in reading all these comments about the cold weather in Wyoming, is that anything below 72 degrees is considered sub freezing and it lasts for 9 months!! Lol....you weenies....hot humid weather sucks!!!...you can always get warm by throwing on another layer but you cant always cool off, I mean you can only take off so many clothes....and when you are still hot, sticky, sweating with smelly body odor in your skivies...yuck....and that's if you stay inside! Even if you take a shower you cant ever dry off it's so humid...I lived in miami fl for 4 years, it was awfull!!!.....btw it's the end of Feb and the forcast for the next 7 days in cheyenne is temps in the 50s...hmmmm....someone is lying about the 9 months subartic thing....
THANK YOU!!!!

Every state has amazing musems, zoos etc so Wyoming of course has it.
No State tax
No tollways

Housing prices went up or has been up for a couple of years ( thats nationwide)
People are friendly and in thier own world and dont want changes so leave them alone. (GOOD!)
The cellphone services are rough in some areas since its a big wide open state.
Thank you in advance to all the Wyoming homies
Are black Floridians welcomed here???
@Shadow_Phoenix YAY!
WY is a very White state, low minority population (except in Lander and Riverton near the Wind River Reservation) but most people are pretty color blind. If you wear your ethnicity on your sleeve and blame anything negative that happens to you on racism you won't get along. If you have a cooperate and treat everyone like you want to be treated you will do just fine.
@Be Real I've known plenty of Republicans, Democrats, and independents who are hyper aware of skin hues and race. IMO a racist is someone who then ascribes negative or positive personal attributes based on melanin. Unfortunately, sometimes that is unconscious since we all have our stereotypes and prejudices.
Nobody cares what you look like here. They will mirror your attitude. Nobody pulls out red carpets for any newcomer in any city I have ever lived in (Europe, Asia, US). I have always been a minority in every place I lived. No problem. Don’t be scared 😘
We don’t care about your skin color. We got semi-close to electing a black governor a few years back. But we do care about your politics. If you’re not a conservative we’d mostly rather you stay out
Been through there it's nice some parts are I live in Colorado that's definitely worth visiting if u ain't never been here
If you like -20 below, the wind blowing 30 miles an hour and 9 months of winter Wyoming is the place for you. There is a reason it is the least populated state in the union .........it is a miserable place to live 2/3rds of the year but if summer falls on the 4th of July they play a ballgame.
I love Wyoming! Coolest State around! I like the Rock Springs area. When I drove big truck, I use to deliver up in the Gillette area, seen the Devils Tower, ain't nothing like it. If you travel on that lone hwy, in the Northeast corner of the State, coming out of Belle Fourche, SD. It's a cut over to Montana, there are plenty of Antelope to see and watch out for the Jackrabbits at night. Out of all the States I've been to, I've always had a Great trip going through Wyoming. The only State I haven't been to, is Alaska!
Thank you for watching. There are lots of states I haven't been to but I have been to Alaska specifically Egigek and King Salmon!
@@alishacollinsrealestate that's awesome! I'm looking at different places to retire, where I can get the best bang for my buck and not be taxed to death!
@@davidnorr2530 That is soooo important...best bang for your buck!!!!
@@alishacollinsrealestate Right! From what I've heard, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nevada seem to be decent places for retirement. And yeah, I know most people want Florida or Arizona. Not really a fan of Florida and I'm hearing that Arizona is going through a population explosion. So there's that!
Don't forget the cut throught trout. 😊
