  • Paloma update! So this was Paloma’s first endurance ride. It was a 30 mile LD (limited distance) at the AERC Land of the Sun Endurance Ride at Boyd Ranch in Wickenburg, AZ. If you remember from the makeover video Paloma was Isidro’s 5th place finisher mare at the Mustang Magic makeover in January. Plan was to buy her back to do endurance and we are super happy with her first go. They ended up 4th place in this race and she finished strong and healthy, thrilled with that.
The next day Isidro was suppose to ride his other mustang Despacito in the 50miler the next day but we noticed a new splint on his left foreleg and had the vet look at it. Vet advised to scratch so we did. So Isidro rode Cent’Anni, a lovely arabian we have in training right now, in the 30 mile LD instead. The plan was to do a nice slow LD and finish last or close to last. Well they did do it slow, average of 5.8mph but this horse is so nice he ended up winning. A unique set of circumstances of only 11 riders in the race and Cent’Anni meeting pulse criteria faster than the other horses put them 10-30minutes ahead of the other riders! Cent’Anni looked so amazing that Isidro showed him for the best conditioned award as well as won that too! So the tortoise beat the hare, lol!
We couldn’t be more please with how Isidro Espinoza Horsemanship horses behaved, looked and performed at this ride.
Stay tuned for the next ride!

Wonderful video - loved seeing Paloma the day after looking like a frisky, fresh horse! I would be really interested in a video where you talk about how you prepared her for the 30 - whether you followed a conditioning plan and how many miles for most rides. Thanks and go mustangs!

It makes me so happy to watch you folks. You are terrific to your horses and they enjoy your company right back. Paloma has such a lovely attitude toward doing new things with Isidro! So did that sweet Arabian.

Just found your channel. I have subscribed. I’ve never competed in endurance, but I’ve reached that retirement stage of life where entering would be fun and winning would not be the goal. I love your relaxed attitude toward the whole thing. Quite a contrast to those who have to win. You have lovely horses too. I look forward to watching your posts in the future.

I attended mustang magic and thought Paloma was such a beautifully built girl. I’m so glad to see her still working.

Does the red ribbon on her tail still mean what it did 40 yrs ago? She may kick?

Judith Walker she doesn’t kick but it keeps the other riders and horses off her butt. Huge problem with other endurance riders using other horses for brakes instead of just training their horse.

I hope you're feeling a bit better now! Pneumonia is no fun. Congrats with Paloma and Cent'Anni! I hope Despacito is well despite his splint.

Dose the red ribbon mean she kicks other horses? Here in Australia we use them for that reason when we are showing? I really like you videos thank you
    Hope you’re feeling better

Lizzy Bizzy yes it is suppose to mean that. She doesn’t kick though. We put it on to keep people from running up our horses butt or using our horses as brakes. Used to happen a lot to us.

Ah that looks like a blast!!! I would love to do that! Buuuut.... I've a 2 yr old, a 4 yr old and I'm expecting another baby so...we aren't in that chapter of life yet. My horses get short jaunts around the 30 acre pasture or groundwork just for fun. I'm so happy for you guys that you get to do that! The country is beautiful too!!
