  • It's amazing how quickly you wondered how you survived having to wait two minutes for a kettle to boil.
We went with Qettle as it was true 100 degrees from the tap at a reasonable price. Quooker seem good but they're around twice the price. There were some others, like Pronteau by Abode but they are a bit more expensive yet only produce water up to 98 degrees.
You can spend more for the Qettle Signature models which come in more colourways. I kind of wish I got a brushed finish as the standard stainless steel is more of a pain to clean although the Signature models are around £200/250 more expensive.

I have one of these 2 years now but has been problematic. The tank starting leaking after a year, replaced under warranty which was great but also the tap has been replaced twice now as in one instance the tap itself would be scalding to touch and now new issue is one of the pipes feeding the tank is leaking, again also replaced but you should check for water around the tank weekly just in case as it can quickly build up and become a problem

    Hi,
Yeah, I've been looking at this item. We are moving but won't be taking our INTU 98deg boiling tap and was looking at 100 degs without resorting to a qooker.
The Qettle vid shows the vent strapped to a waste pipe; how is your installation working.
Also, the 98 deg tap on mine must be held open and springs back when released. What is your opinion on the "press turn, then turn back" on yours?
    Helpful Vid. Thank you.

Installation seems fine. You need to cut the vent pipe into a waste pipe which made me a bit nervous. For some reason our boiler vent pipe goes down to the main waste pipe so ours uses that. It fits, JUST.
Turning back to turn it off seems to work fine. You can tell it's turned back far enough to "off" if you release the button after turning on the boiling tap as you hear it click when it returns to it's off position.. It does mean you can turn it too far and turn on the filter tap by accident but I haven't actually done that myself.

A lot of pipes to repair when they leak . I like the idea but a lot of pipe in there.

Can the PVC drainage pipe withstand 100 degC of water?

Yeah the pvc pipe bit is just where the vent is. All it gets is steam/drips through the release valve. I imagine it's way below 100c by then.
