I love that you included some personal connection to the game. I played FFX as a teenage girl, just a little younger than Yuna, and the part with the Ronso at Gagazet was what resonated with me. It was true: Yuna has a small frame and small voice, but her conviction could topple a mountain. Maxing out her Sphere Grid was my favorite thing to do, because it made her power on the outside match her personality on the inside.
@@NBmadI almost suggested Chrono Trigger but you can't actually remove Crono from your party until [spoiler]. Then I almost said Crono Cross but it has the same problem. I guess you could just keep Crono/Serge dead the whole time. Suikoden would be the same deal but you'd have 5 other party slots for 30-40 girls to compete for (all Suikoden games have 108 recruitable characters) while the protag takes his permanent dirt nap, so that might be interesting.
While this might be good for lols, I hope the ultimate conclusion will be something wholesome and empowering, like every girl is evetually hot under specific circumstances or if she’s given the appropriate support or level she deserves. 😁
19:00 Rikku and Yuna are cousins, so she likely knows Yuna much better than the others and doesn't want to see MORE of her family die after losing Home. It makes me like the scene more, and makes Rikku feel much more real, as the combo of being 15 and facing losing family would break most people into a freakout.
I wouldn't say she knows Yuna much better, as they only met for the first time in the Moonflow. Yuna knew *of* her uncle Cid, but had never actually met him, nor Rikku, prior to that. But other than that, yeah.

She is sick of losing people she cares about due to her al bhed origins. The pain would hit her extra hard if she loses Yuna too; she wouldn't be losing simply another comrade, she would be losing a member of her biological family. To top it all off, she started learning and befriending her when she joined the party, prior to that, Yuna was simply her long lost cousin.

We have a gap of knowledge from when Yuna was very young, where all we know is that Yuna's mom was attempting to repair her relationship with Cid, that happens to line up with the gap of knowledge about Rikku's past when her mom was also alive. I'm not saying that they absolutely met during that young age, I'm just saying that it fills continuity errors, so assuming that a lack of knowledge is definitive proof of no existing relationship is silly to assume. It's also very plausible that the developers ran out of time and/or disc space and threw in never meeting Cid as a hot fix to not being able to properly explain Yuna and Rikku's relationship, but I'm not one of the developers or writers so I can't confirm or deny that.

In a place of war, his priority would be to protect his daughter from the Yevonites, thus it is a given he forbade her being associated with anything related to Braska (a yevonite). Rikku gave her a pet name because a) she is the youngest of the group, pet names are a more "childish" practice towards ones "besties" and b) out of all the guardians she wants to not only protect her the most, but also save her life. It is simple. You dont need to know whether they interacted before or not. If Yuna was aware of Rikku's existence, she was too concerned to live what little was thought to be left of her life to care.
For a long time I couldn't figure out why I loved FFX. Thanks to you talking about your teenage years playing this game, you hit the nail on the head. This game taught me to question the status quo, to question religious leaders, to educate myself, and to even discover myself eventually. That's why I love this game so much... But, to give the female characters in this series some credit, my favorite is Lulu (who is only usable in Part 1). She is the mage with offensive magic and her Bio spell is extremely useful in the 1st three battles with Seymour (though, I didn't need that spell with the 2nd, believe it or not). Other useful offensive spells are Flare and Ultima (both of these could give you an edge in the 3rd battle with Seymour). Yuna is my second favorite because she's in charge of all the Aeons and is the designated healer. Yuna is the girl behind defensive and support magic. And you've gotta give Rikku some credit as well. Her Bribe skill could get you some neat rewards.

That seems doable to this newb. I really enjoyed turning Yuna into a Black Mage and using Riku's special abilities to make items like Mega Potions. Having Lulu as a second Black Mage that I turned into a fighter class made me think of all the Chucky jokes as she used dolls to attack monsters. 😂
It's weird to know now that which spheres Ochu drops is random. I always have done "kill Ochu wih physical for HP" and Magic for MP and its always worked for me 😅
Looking at the fights with Seymour after the first one, I swear you're able to damage him with healing items seeing; as he died after the first fight. I have a vague recollection of hitting him with a phoenix down and killing him in the second fight.
I did not know that about negator and Mana beam. Granted when I get to that part I usually beat the boss before it can get the beam out but that’s really cool.
Dark Aeons with only hot girls would be interesting. Most dark aeon battles involve high strength/luck with celestial weapons which you can't do only using hot girl sphere grids. Would be an interesting challenge!
If you're looking for ideas for challenge runs, have you ever considered getting into the Persona series? There's lots of cool types of runs you can do for Persona 4 and 5, and Persona 3 Reload comes out in February, which is less of a remaster and more of a full blown remake so it's gonna be pretty hot.

How are you underleveled with level 3 spells? I still had level 2 spells here. Calm lands is tough and also if you mix 2 granades you get flash flood which kills tros meaning if anyone else does a hot girl only run now you have some knowledge to make it easy at the start.
This video is the reason why I will only bother to complete Final Fantasy 10 Part 1. Never will I bother to get anywhere in Part 2. I do think Shuyin is an interesting antagonist. Sort of like Jango and Boba Fett. Boba is Jango's unaltered clone son. And Tidus is a "dream" version of Shuyin. I would however, play a prequel to both parts of Final Fantasy 10, revolving around Auron, Jecht & Braska. That would be a killer video game.

Star Ocean games. The main character isn't required to be in the party and you can literally recruit mostly girls in Star Ocean 2 and 3 in particular.

That's why Wakka is good in the early game. Dude can cause every status effect with his skills and Status Reels Overdrive.

FYI the ability to skip cutscenes in the PC version comes from a mod, not Square-Enix. Square-Enix hates us all equally.
A good way to get around forced party members is to Customize them a weapon with First Strike so they can switch straight out
