i needed a easy quick time waster project to go till finals in my wood shop class and remebered my favorite wood working chanel and decided on this one love it
Cool; I like the shape you went with. The swivel collars are pretty cool as well. I like this puzzle because of how easy it is to make, yet how deceptively simple to solve. It first, the puzzle may even seem impossible. Even knowing the secret, it can be tricky to wrap your head around what is happening when it's being solved. At least, when I made mine, it took ME a while to fully understand HOW the solution achieves what it does. It's deviously simple! And thanks for linking to my video. I do appreciate it, Peter Brown .
Steve French Your puzzles are awesome Steve! It's funny, I never had to solve it, the guy that showed it to me, showed me the solution. He also brought in a few of his own puzzles. I'm not that great at detail work, so this one was good for me!
It's great fun watching other people trying to solve this puzzle. I made one after seeing Steve's video, but I gave up and watched his video for the solution.
So I have binge watched your videos for a while now and I have to say, I am not much of a woodworking person I've done a few carvings and I've made a box but that's about it. There arrent that many channels that make videos with a purpose or show something actually educational with great commentary. I love your channel and keep up the great videos, you've definately got a subscriber here!!
This is great! I scaled it down and made a simpler design (similar to the video you have linked in your description) with about a 7x2x1cm piece of wood, 1cm wood beads and some thick string, this is gonna be a fun little gadget to give my family for christmas :)
baconsoda Nice! I think we'd get along! When I gave these out, I also gave my Father in law the impossible nail in wood puzzle from ***** He tried forever, "No, no, don't show me..."
I just got done making Steve Frenchs X puzzle!!!! I think I need to make this one as we'll.. Check out the Egyptian water box by Steve French. That one is on my list as well to make! Great job peter!!
thanks for the puzzle design, i used the concept for my own puzzle. it is a block off wood on top of a locked chest, and instead of the ring you have to move the key to the other side.(then the rope is close enough to the keyhole to get the key in) 😄
+james Battaglia But that's only half the solution. The SOLVE the puzzle you have to put it back together! Some of those things come apart pretty simply, and the infuriating part is in the reassembly.
Nice job Peter, I have a box of miscellaneous puzzles, all dime store quality, that I keep saying I'm going to remake in wood, I just never seem to get around to it. Regards. Bob
Peter Brown I saw somewhere where a guy had taken a swimsuit calendar and put fake mustaches and googly eyes on all of the girls. It was surprisingly hilarious.
If my family took the time making something cool like this I wouldn't be mad. I normally just get a tangled mass of necklaces that look like they went through a washing machine
It looks really simple though. Like I didn't even think of trying put the washer through that hole, it involves a whole lot more of twisting that rope around XD Critical thinking guys
YES I SOLVED IT i am very good at envisioning things in my head to the point i know if clothes fit or not and i sat for 5 minutes thinking so hard that i have a headache but i solved it you simply move one of the metal piece thingys under the loop and pull the loop threw the circle and keep moving the piece along the rope until it's on one side
What's more annoying is that i don't have one of these puzzles, nor the equipment you used to make it. Damn! I looked at the image of it for a while but i couldn't keep track of how it looks in my head after moving the rope around and orienting the puzzle around. Then i also thought something which makes this more annoying knowing that it is solvable, i thought that it's basically a rope from point to point going through that hole, so how in gods name can you get the ring to the other side??? My suggestion was that it's impossible at first but i still can't guarantee that to myself and i don't want to watch a tutorial on it, i would like to figure this one out for myself.
I just had a quick thought, maybe i could make a semi model of it with some stuff at home, you basically need a hoop with a rope with each end tied on opposite sides, setup in that pattern with two smaller hoops on the rope, and the rules are that the small hoops aren't allowed to go through the bigger hoop. Seems simple enough to make.
DLC ENERGY Did you make your mock up?! I posted this on Reddit a couple years back and made quite a stir. It's a classic puzzle and the solution is online but it's more satisfying to get it yourself!
Peter Brown Yes but sadly i couldn't solve it straight away so i just gave up and watched a tutorial online. I made mine with just some cardboard and a shoe lace. It didn't turn out so bad, here's how it looked: oi62.tinypic.com/302mowh.jpg
DLC ENERGY Nice mock up!! Don't feel bad this puzzle stumps a lot of folks. Now that you know the solution, it is your turn to watch others struggle! :)
i like the way you edited this video. at bout 3:50 you say this is what you want: and show 1 or 2 seconds of the thing when it is finished and then go back to where you were without chopping the audio (or not noticeably anyways) so the instructions are more fluid. good work!. also i would like to make a sugestion: can you show us how to make a puzzle called "the tricky dick", qhich apparently is the most difficult to solve of that kind?
Thank you for the video. You inspired me make my own “fancy” version of this puzzle. I also made a video of the build: ruclips.net/video/Y7LFSZl412E/видео.html
i needed a easy quick time waster project to go till finals in my wood shop class and remebered my favorite wood working chanel and decided on this one love it
I had no idea you were so well endowelled
You're punder arrest
Macaroni Man am I going to the punitentiary to be punished?
I was pundering the same thing.
This is punderful.
This in punbearable...

I never had to try, the guy that showed me this one, showed the solution! I enjoy a puzzle, but not while being watched:)
That was a good simple project! I love your music. It's so appropriate with your videos. Lol thanks for posting your video
Taper that hole to make it more appealing.. LoL Neat project Peter!
+Matthew Q Good idea!
Would it be possible to purchase one of these from you somehow? I love wooden rope puzzles!
Ohhh no.... I've binged all of the videos now 😟
I hate long build videos... 5 min is perfect, earned my sub
+unsivilized thanks!
umm.... its 4.59
+ShadowMaster336 umm... are you stupid
mine says 4:59 too
4:59 is basically 5 minutes, he was just rounding it off
So at the end of the video you don't tell us the solution for this puzzle, Feeling angry of Peter
+Hossam Hussien I'm sorta sick like that!
I'm not smiling. I promise....
Hossam Hussien sooooooooo angry
OMG LOL! You are the Zen master of puzzles 0:39 . Solution: Just like a Rubik's Cube, you just take it apart and put it together in the solution.
Ha, that's the same way I solve Rubik's Cubes! Or a hammer...
So I have binge watched your videos for a while now and I have to say, I am not much of a woodworking person I've done a few carvings and I've made a box but that's about it. Fun project. Nice job!
Custom Chris Thank you Chris!
Ohh this is great, I'll have to remember this in December :P Thanks Peter!
Nice one sicko! That chisel looks sharp. They need to take that away from you.
Ted Alexander You're right! It's sharp and nice people in the white coats probably don't know I have it... :)
This is great! I scaled it down and made a simpler design (similar to the video you have linked in your description) with about a 7x2x1cm piece of wood, 1cm wood beads and some thick string, this is gonna be a fun little gadget to give my family for christmas :)
Wow looks really cool and you could paint it or clear coat it to it be really nice
Yes! This exactly what I need for the days when the kids aren't making me crazy enough. Wouldn't want my frustration levels to dip too low. Lol
Really cool project peter ,another one that made past the shop can:) all the best
I´ve built one for my mother´s birthday. Thanks for the inspiration!
"I'm a-frayed knot." Love the narration in the first minute on this one Peter.
Thanks Chris!
Fun project Peter: I will be making some of those, Cheers Harry
Thanks Harry!
I'll be making a few of these for Christmas because I have a son and daughter...and brother-in-law who need to be tortured.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
baconsoda Nice! I think we'd get along! When I gave these out, I also gave my Father in law the impossible nail in wood puzzle from ***** He tried forever, "No, no, don't show me..."
Looks like a fun project.
J.D. Ransom Thanks JD
making a person feel like an idiot, classic. I'm in. thanks for the video, another home run.
Lets just be honest. We want them to fail! :) Thanks Stephen...
I just got done making Steve Frenchs X puzzle!!!! I think I need to make this one as we'll.. Check out the Egyptian water box by Steve French. That one is on my list as well to make! Great job peter!!
WoodenCreationz Nice! I'll check it out! Steve's got a great channel
Sorry but my ears heard Get them a Muzzle! That would work too! But a well done video and a wonderful puzzle!
Thanks for sharing
Larry
The Tiny Trailer Workshop I could use a muzzle some days around here... :)
thanks for the puzzle design, i used the concept for my own puzzle. it is a block off wood on top of a locked chest, and instead of the ring you have to move the key to the other side.(then the rope is close enough to the keyhole to get the key in) 😄
great job peter, i put it back on the drill press job done :-)
Robbiethewoodturner Nice fix!! :)
I'm the kinda smart as that would just use a hammer to force the washer through the hole
james Battaglia That's the same way I solve puzzles... :)
Yeah the last time someone gave me one it was one of those 2 horse shoes joined by a chain with a ring on it I just used a hack saw
+james Battaglia But that's only half the solution. The SOLVE the puzzle you have to put it back together! Some of those things come apart pretty simply, and the infuriating part is in the reassembly.
Or I can just not buy them
+james Battaglia Police FTW ! :))
@ 1:51 the belt sander has a googly eye
These sorts of puzzles drive me crazy because with my OCD I must figure it out or die trying!
When did u get diagnosed?
Nice job Peter,
I have a box of miscellaneous puzzles, all dime store quality, that I keep saying I'm going to remake in wood, I just never seem to get around to it.
Regards.
Bob
RJBWoodTurner That would be cool! Real puzzle makers require the sort of patience you've got, if a project takes two hours, I'm out! :)
I like the googly eye on the belt sander
Daxus Tomoe Thanks! Googly eyes make everything better!
Peter Brown I saw somewhere where a guy had taken a swimsuit calendar and put fake mustaches and googly eyes on all of the girls. It was surprisingly hilarious.
Parabéns pelo trabalho genial. .!!
If my family took the time making something cool like this I wouldn't be mad. I normally just get a tangled mass of necklaces that look like they went through a washing machine
1:50 rounds edges on the sander, 2:06 edges un-sand themselves. :-D
any particular reason as to why there is a googly eye on your belt sander?
Everything is better with googly eyes.
you'll notice that he has a pair of googly eyes on every tool in his shop if you look closely.
+MrFlarespeed beautiful
+Travis McDaniel You right
It's simple, you pull the loop through the hole and move the washer along the rope without ever having to bring the washer through the hole.
Nameless That's the way!! I really like this puzzle, because once you see the solution it makes you crazy, "like how did I not see that before?!"
Peter Brown Exactly, this is still one of my favorite simple to make puzzles for that reason.
Cool video
Thank You
Don’t spoil the secret but is there any specific length that the string need to be? And does it need to be able to turn?
"Happy aggravating."
How do we know you didn't just make a second one with 2 washers on one side 0?0
hi gee
Phils Eyelash the puzzle actually is solvable
It looks really simple though. Like I didn't even think of trying put the washer through that hole, it involves a whole lot more of twisting that rope around XD Critical thinking guys

Do you sell your puzzles? I don't have access to tools like needed to make one of those.
I think it would be cool to see you make a puzzle box........ then put something your wife likes inside and watch her try to open it
Can you make one out of epoxy?
That's just wrong to not show the solution!! haha. Guess I gotta go make it to find out how. Thanks for sharing this.
hendu3270 Thanks for watching! Check the description: Steve French's puzzle & solution.
Damn you!!!!!!!! I must know how to solve this
Jerry Arce It's called the two ring puzzle. If that helps.
The solution is to undo the larks head?
Happy aggravated

plus tell us the solution
+Ken Pflug no...
(evil laugh) Google to ring puzzle.
I made that at shop class (wood working) and he has the structure upside down
It's diabolical.
good night, your content is very good, you make it for sale friend.
so who's here because of Japan's 10 year puzzle
Me
Tim Olivar lmfao me
tim c me
Me too. This puzzle seems to resemble the 10 year puzzle. I believe this puzzle could be made using coat hanger wire rather than wood.
Tim Sabas absolutely nobody
that knot is called a lark's head
ThreadThatHas NoEnd That's cool! Thanks for the information
well that's what years of being in boy scouts will get ya.
40 minutes to make the puzzle but only two to salve it. but so far I've pissed off three friends (a good thing) and my G/F (a bad thing) LOL

Pull the loop through the whole & move the ring. It's elementary my dear Peter.
even more elementary.......a pair of scissors
Touché
To frustrate relatives for hours, I just exist
you remind me of a happy Walter White
can you make something fancy using a duck tape, sorry for my grammar
like
You make me bonkers damit
+vqfive Ha! Watch Steve French's video for the explanation. I think it's in the comments.
so you didn't show me how it is done no good
you're lucky
What if we don't have all dem tools
handsaw, sanding paper and a drill is all you need basically
if I got this for a b-day I would slap whoever gave it to me...
Indeed hahahaha
OK DUDE really????? solution PLEASE what did I ever do to you?
Is nobody else wondering why there's a googly eye on his belt sander?
there are eyes on many of his tools
He does that on all his power tools
I have never noticed that he does it on other tools as well, this was the first one. I will pay more attention hehehehe
the solution is simple you just take the washer and then uhh damn you Peter
imsecretlyawombat ha ha!! I'm enjoying this more than I should.... :)
you didnt actually show the solution so how do we know you didnt just fake it
JFroMG there is a link in the description which will lead you to a solution
Are you intent on losing some fingers! Just saying?
Stephen Hodge No way! The band saw is great because you have lots of control, but I'm still very aware of the fact that it's 11" of spinning teeth!
That's not nice. Cripes, now I want to make one.
stephen dickinson It's crazy simple! You can even skip the collars and just glue the ends in!
i know how to solve it! :D
Leiss Gaming Sweet! Show it to your friends and watch them suffer....
It's pretty simple :)
Ok so you drive your car into the car wash THEN when everything is wet you push the washer through the hole..... well thats not rocket science Peter
Now that's how you solve a puzzle! Ha!!
Woodglut plans are amazing!
Thank you for not showing the solution!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Is he supposed to sound like Bob Ross, or is he just speaking quietly?
You prankster you... ;O)
Reed Kay Thanks Reed! :)
With plans from Stodoys you can make it really easy.
You sir, are an evil man. I will unsubscribe if you don't show how to solve it. LOL
Jim Fancher Ha! Check the description for Steve French's build of this puzzle. He offers a solution.... :)
Thank you for the video. You inspired me make my own “fancy” version of this puzzle. I also made a video of the build: ruclips.net/video/Y7LFSZl412E/видео.html
Omg lol. I hate this.
MyWarriorInHiding haha!

Yes! This exactly what I need for the days when the kids aren't making me crazy enough. Wouldn't want my frustration levels to dip too low. Lol
Whatcha Making? Ha! Being a parent is totally crazy. Once you're at a 100% why not add a little extra! :) Thanks for watching!
Looks like a fun project to make.
athiker7209 Thanks! You can batch them out pretty easy too!
