Some people think those of us with trich have an overwhelming amount of demodex mites. Maybe kill them. I use apple cider vinegar on my legs and hair. Vicks vaporub on my eyelids (burns the first time, but helps, seriously). She mentioned coconut oil, that helps too.

I have had Trich and Dermatillomania (skin picking) my whole life, and I used to be a nail biter, as well (I have been in biting remission for the past 10 years with only minor recurrances). I pull mainly my hair on my head, although, nowhere is really "safe" from me pulling. I have had periods of "dormancy" where my Trich urges go on hiatus, but it never goes away. My longest period of dormancy went from age 10-12. BFRBs are just that way. There is no "curing" them, only trying to keep them at bay or manage them. It is something ingrained into who you are, not a "bad habit" you picked up somewhere along the line that can be quit. And , yes, I definitely believe the theory that they are hereditary. It took me a long time and lots of learning to accept that. Currently, my best way to try and manage is keeping my hair really short and trying to keep it appealing to me. Shorter means I can't easily seek the hairs I want to remove on instinct and if it looks appealing, I find i try a little harder to curb myself. When my hair is longer, I constantly have my hands in it. Twirling, twisting, finger combing, braiding, running it on my face and lips, and tying it in knots. This makes it WAY too easy to escalate to pulling, especially if something feels out of place. I know your agent means well, wanting you to "just quit", but as much as I wish I could say that is possible, it really isn't likely that you will ever be able to quit permanently. And I don't say this to bring anyone down. It is just the reality of living with a BFRB, and people who don't , really just can't understand that. Sending huge hugs from one Trichster to another.

Don't feel bad at all that you said you were done in your last video! Of course I'm not happy that it didn't work out for you but it is comforting to know that's it's not as easy as some people may think it is to stop, and that it's clearly just as difficult for you as it is for me. But I really like how you talked about it, you always have good ideas for trying to stop but at the same time, you don't make me feel like I'm bad if I do. And the little pep speech you gave from 7:00 - 8:00 almost made me cry! I have trich but I know I'm beautiful anyway and I hope that other people who may not feel that see this video! I'll definitely be subscribing and watching your more recent videos and I wish you good luck with your modelling!

I have no eyelashes now and I realized that I think I pull because I subconsciously feel more comfortable without them. To be completely honest, you look really nice without them, it gives you a softer purer look (or well that's what I tell myself). I think there should be modeling jobs for people with no eyelashes. There should be beauty behind this pain.

this is something i've been dealing with for almost two years now. this video really helped, i don't know anyone else personally who is going through something like this so it's very hard and embarrassing to talk about. it is very calming and reassuring to know that I'm not crazy and there are others out there who 100% understand what I am going through. Thank you all so much for sharing your comments for all of us to read, it helps a lot. stay strong!

I'm kind of sad to know that your Trich came back. Anyway, we should go forward and start again every single day :) We cannot give up! Thanks for sharing.

Girl it's ok! Don't beat yourself up. I'm 28, and I've had trich almost my whole life (started in3rd grade), and stopped on and off hundreds of times. Your tips do work, I've been doing them forever. But don't guilt yourself or beat yourself up, it's not worth it. Give yourself positive reformations, tell yourself you're beautiful, know that you're a great person. By the way, my eyelashes always grow back as thick and full, don't worry, that's a myth. Think of it as a life journey so if you do it again you won't feel guilty 😊.

Thanks a lot for sharing. I'm 49 and JUST found out tonight, by looking on youtube, that this a "thing," with a name! Your video helped. You're beautiful and have a great message! I've kicked the habit throughout my life, sometimes for years, and sometimes it has reentered my life. I have found that sleep helps - keeping rested.
The best thing you said was to think of how you will feel afterwards, but more importantly how you said, think how great you will feel if you do NOT do it! Thanks again!

You are so gorgeous! I have trich too, it started with my eyelashes but progressed to my head and whatnot. I've had some good streaks too, but it is so hard to beat. I think for all of us, it's a matter of managing it rather than expecting it to go away.

I just wanna say you have really beautiful eyes. I have trichotillomania and absolutely love makeup, and i understand the horrible pit in your stomach when you realize you've done damage to yourself. I always go for my eyelashes. Trich is hard. But your eyes are very naturally framed and look beautiful without anything adding to them! Don't give up!

+Hally Sein Hi Hally.. Thanks so much for your positive comment. I am having to let them grow in currently and am not wearing makeup, so it's become harder to see the slow as grass growing progress. You really have made my day. I'm sorry you have trich and can relate on a whole other level regarding our love for makeup! I wish so badly to buy mascara for my real lashes- not false ones. I appreciate your compliment and I hope to frame my eyes one day with lashes that were once there. Best of luck to you and your process of defeating trich. Happy monday xx

I started at 11 because of a bullying incident :-( that was in the 1980's. I sure wish there were online support back then. I started handling it more mildly, having some growth always, and now I am pull free. I go out of my way to keep my eyelashes made up with mascara. I have spent $$$ on Lilash which really gave me more drive to not pull. After 30 years of pulling, mine are definitely thinner. Stay strong.

Heya I also pluck and pull my eyelashes out at the moment. Alot of stuff is happening in general that is making me feel very stressed and anxious. I have prom in July and ages ago I decided to grow my eyelashes back and not touch them at all. But now I have started and it's bothering me soooo much. I just want long eyelashes for one night and maybe for the rest of my life. But like you said before, can you out grow trichotillomania or will that stay but you just have to control it?
For me it's not just school work but I feel like I get stressed at things that are so small I guess in a way no one would react to (if that makes sense). But anyway thank you so much for coming forward in all your videos about your trichotillomaina. I'm so glad we both go through the same thing because I now realised that I'm not alone. Btw like everyone said in the comments, you look beautiful with or without eyelashes and you must be a really good model :). Best of wishes from me :)

I'm a 19 year old male who has plucked my eyelashes for about a year now and I must say, that the coloring tip was actually one of the most useful distractions for me. But unfortunately I just can't stop the urge. I do good for a month or so and I too have/had full lashes normally so it's a real shame I continue to pull them out subconsciously.... ugh so irritating. At least I'm not alone. You are still gorgeous by the way, and the best of luck for you and the modeling career.

Really good video - very brave, and a good message. I do not have trich, but got to your video on a roundabout path. I know someone who for years had no eyelashes, and I just thought she didn't have any, then a few years ago I noticed she had eyelashes (natural) and she's had them ever since. I never asked her, but I bet she was dealing with trich.

Thank u so much for your sharing!!! Trich has been unbeatable so far for me. And after times of great success has always come back to continue to ruin my life. But at the same time it's a part of my life I am still learning to accept as part of who I am.

I feel way better about myself now personally because I'm now learning more about this disorder. I begun in middle school to the point I went bald and to know that I'm not alone here. I'm now in college, which I stopped pulling after my parents found out and went to a therapist and stopped for 5 years but sadly I've begun again and I decided to go to the doctors because I hate doing it and I don't want to get to that point where I was in middle school.

I also pull my eyelashes and am fearful one day they won't grow back in (I'm 34 and have been pulling since 6th grade). One thing I have found to help is keeping bandaids on my fingertips. The urge COMPLETELY goes away almost instantly, it's just having to keep them on constantly is difficult and once I start feeling around for the right lash, it's hard for me to stop and put the bandaids on. Hope that helps!

I keep relapsing 😫 but I think wearing false lashes help me not pluck. The bad part is, I can't always wear them. I may need to try that out. Like you, I do it in spurts and I rarely do it in public. It's a constant battle. We can do this!!

  • @mariahrenee5910

Anna I too wasn't treated very well at my private school and was introduced to pulling by a peer. That was 7th grade? Well I'm now 29 years old and have to wear wigs. I started out only pulling my eyelashes just like you but about a year ago I was exposed to some very poisonous fumes from the X-ray processor at my old job. My boss was a prick and wouldn't pay for the jugs to be emptied so they'd over flow all over the floors and I would breath it in. The girls were mean and hateful to me about it at work but none of them were stepping up to clean the machine. I always had to or it didn't get done ! Anyway my hair started falling out which turned into me pulling it out. So I shaved my head thinking that would help me stop. Ha no that was the worst decision I could have made. Now I can't leave my hair alone for longer than two weeks. I stopped pulling my eye lashes out but I think I'd rather have the hair on my head than my eye lashes. THANK YOU for posting what you look like without eye lashes. All my exes and family members told me I was still beautiful. I never believed any of them until I saw this video. You are still SO BEAUTIFUL even without eye lashes. You are so beautiful that you hardly notice and the only reason I notice is because I have the same problem. I would love to swap stories if you have time. I am just now discovering our "community" lol which is silly but I think it's important for us to have support since it seems like there isn't a cure and no matter how hard we try and how long we don't pull we all seem to relapse eventually and fall off the wagon. My grandmother is convicted I have a demon controlling me 😒 ....she's forcing me to eat garlic all the time to get rid of it lolol Please contact me on FB messenger if you've got it. My name is Mariah Azoulay I am pretty sure I'm the only one haha it should say New Mexico. Or my email is granolalyfe@icloud.com

I've been suffering since I was a kid. I'm going to be 37 in a few months and the stress is too much. I have two kids and a hubby who does know I have it. I've been wearing wigs since I was 18/19 and been rocking short hair for such a long time. i get my hubby to shave my hair once in a while but still haven't told him my condition. I have two jobs and just had my sleeve surgery to help with weight loss. My teeth have moved since having my kids so can't really bite down - hence the stress I mentioned. trying to tackle so many things at once and I can't help but pull. I just don't know.

The main prob I have with false lashes (is that when my lids are completely bald) the false lashes always want to keep flipping upward, away from the lashes. Because of this they look noticeably fake.
It's like a sad curse. Like you need lashes to wear false lashes. For me anyway. I need at least a sparse spread of real lashes. Frustrating!
Might just be my eye shape. Or what not.
All around frustrating to have trich. It's a daily, even hourly struggle. It's constantly on the brain.

+Anna Victoria Moore Hi, I have the same problem. I am only 13 years old and trichotillomaia has completely ruined my life! Being entirely honest, I am pulling at the moment I'm writing this. If you could give a physical view of it now, and some more tips to help out, that would be great! My story is this:
In the end of my 5th grade year, I had started to get large bursts of anxiety and stress. I couldn't find a good way to channel that stress somewhere else so I starting plucking my eyelashes. Now today, I have none at all. At the beginning of my 7th grade year, I started to pluck even more and more till I had none left. That led me to pulling out my hair. That went on for about 5 months till I found out I had 2 GIANT bald spots. One in the front of my hair line, and the other in the middle. I really need some advice on how to stop before it becomes too bad that it is permanent. Thank You!

Anna Victoria Moore I have been struggling with this since I was 15 years old off and on and I'm now 46 years old. I suffer from depression and anxiety. I went into rehab for the first time in 2007 and that helped and made a tremendous difference but I've had a few relapses throughput the years. My relapses usually don't last too long but in 2014 I became very stressed and it triggered a relapse. My doctor put me on Naltrexone and it's been by far the only medication that has ever helped me with this. Might be worth looking into?!?!

I'm only 12 but when I was 11 I started pulling because I was stressed. Also some of my eye lashes hurt and I was just trying to get those out and ended up pulling all of them. I sorta just became a habit like a hand gesture. I had Trichotillomania for a year and a half... I've been clean since 12-24-15 and I have a full set of beautiful eyelashes. When I did have Trichotillomania it was really hard to see mascara ads and stuff like that. But once I got to be able to put mascara on and ditch the eyeliner that made me want to stop pulling and it worked! I hope the same for you (:
