Construction workers use what's called a truce pole... you run a line from one end to the other gives you a straight line. Typically only use a level to make sure that cinder block is sitting level right-to-left but what do I know I've only been doing construction for 50 years

Really we do appreciate your comments. We are novices in this. We did actually run a line but triple checked everything with our levels. It was a great build to do for learning new things.

Makes one appreciate some of the architectural / engineering feats (castles, cathedrals) of our ancestors... centuries ago.

For sure. I am so glad we have so many tools to help us with our modern builds.

By the way, nice job! It would be so great to have a root cellar... lots of time that I don't ever seem to have enough of. I appreciate your channel name as it seems the evil forces wish to whitewash all of the goodness produced until now, and normalize everything anti-God and Jesus.@@WisdomPreserved

Thank you. I love having the root cellar. It has worked out so great for us. This took about 6 months to make because our time was short that spring/summer. What I have found is that if I just start a project, even if I can only work on it a little bit each day, it will eventually get done. If you decide to tackle a root cellar project and have any questions just let me know.
When we came up with our name we really wanted something that would convey our desire to save/share what are quickly becoming lost arts. There is a lot that can be learned from those in our history.

Amen, my friend. We moved from CA to AR 3 years ago to get more connected and out of the city. 6 acres and using a small amount with chickens, greenhouse, and a 50x50 garden. Hoping to expand that as we figure things out. As you said, bit by bit we learn... those things that are being outsourced will ultimately be our undoing and give the people that wish us harm all the power.
      Keep doing what you do.@@WisdomPreserved

Nice video, good info. BUT.... The "tall" lady is 5'4"? Did I hear that right? Then how tall is the "short" one? "Hobbit hole" makes a lot of sense.

Hee hee ... I am 5 foot tall, on a good day, with big shoes!
