There was no translation of his name shown ("境井仁 THE GHOST") when he did the 'chiburui' move (swinging a katana to remove the blood). His name is Jin 仁 (first name) Sakai 境井 (last name). This game looks beautiful with the autumn colors of the trees and environment!
In the original trailer, it looked like he has discarded this ghost life, so maybe a time skip will happen! Cause he appeared to be a wanderer at that point, an not just a slayer. An it looked apparent that he had history with the other samurai he fought with.
To me I think that the first trailer was in the early part of the game and he becomes like this later on after they took something away from him you know what I mean , so he goes down slashing everyone .. also , in the pgw announcement trailer you see him transform from the guy he was in the first trailer to the ghost
