@@mariai9549 he weighs everyting. But a few clicks away there should be a video of him reviewing some Coffe scales or sommin 😂. The man weighs his water
Swap the french press with an Aeropress for the 'espresso' (uses much less coffee but still a good strong shot) and this is what I do every morning. Buy a cheap french press with a plastic handle and you don't have to faff about taking the glass out of the holder. I got one in Tesco for £5. My flat white is: 24g fine ground espresso blend coffee 60g water (just off the boil) stir for 10-20 seconds then brew for 2 mins 200g of whole milk For the textured milk, I do just what is in the video, but after plunging I pour the milk into a metal milk jug as this gives you better tap and swirl action.
4:18 ‘roll the Australian hate comments’ .. nope.. Chloe nailed it!! Basically exactly how my Grandma made it for me 40 yrs ago, minus the deco on top 🥰
Thank you so much for this video. We’re still on lockdown here in the Philippines, do the coffee shops are still closed. I tried it and it came pretty close to the ones the I get from the coffee shops. I really needed the coffee fix. Thank you so much! 😍
I'd swap out the french press for a moka pot. However, I do see the benefit in just quickly cleaning out the french press after brewing your coffee and reusing it for the milk.
that's the best homemade coffee recipe I've ever seen. I always thought it's impossible to reach that creamy espresso texture without a expensive machine. I'll try asap 🤍
I do this with a Moka pot and it feels like it tastes much better than when done with a French press. Aeropress makes a decent strong shot as well, and there's a decent accessory that lets you add more pressure on the coffee so you get a bit closer to espresso, although obviously not the same.
From California USA. Thank You!!! I got hooked on me flat whites from the “all you can drink” package on a cruise and came home jonesing for them and Not my usual American drip. Shazam! Your brilliant video. THANK YOU!!!
I need to say this, this video is extremely pleasant. First, flat whites are awesome. Second, the lady is very good at this! And third, I was able to spot two lofi tracks among my favorites. Subscribed and currently making that flat white!
Would you please do same video but not for home baristas but with an actual steamer, maybe make a quick comparison with latte and cappucino like you did in the latte vs cappucino video? would be great thanks!
I have been doing this for quite some time, with great results. I'm happy to see it being shared. I have a question for you. How do I retain the "freshness" of my coffee, once I have opened the bag? A friend of mine told me to put it in the fridge or freezer, because it wouldn't age so fast due to the cold. Can you confirm this?
Air tight container, room temp, away from daylight is best. If you freeze, make sure it's air tight, and defrosted/room temp before using - don't try to grind frozen beans.
To froth the milk I purchased a really inexpensive battery operated handheld frother. After ftothing the milk I put it in microwave to heat and while that's hesting I make the espresso like coffee using an AeroPress Flow Control Filter or the Fellow Prismo filter attachment. Note: I do not make 10 or 12 ounce (300 or 360 ml) drinks. I make 6 ounce (180 ml) drinks because I prefer a higher coffee content. I'm not trying to drink milk with a little coffee but I want coffee with a little milk.
The milk actually looks pretty good in the French Press, might try it. You should probably know that when you say do it in one take, people expect there to be no cuts in the video, so they can see it is one take.
This is fab! The old video also was great. Will be so happy to have a cappuccino at home. Obviously, going out to a coffeeshop, still not a viable pandemic option.
it's not the same & doesn't taste the same tho . espresso coffee is made by forcing hot water through the grinds under pressure , the coffee grinds in a French press / plunger / cafetere just float around in hot water similar to tea in a tea pot . the result is noticeably weaker & waterier ( it tastes very similar to perc' coffee ) .
I'm having trouble getting the milk to not bubble too much. My coffee would form bubbles when I pour the milk into it. How do you pump the milk without forming bubbles? Edit: is microwave essential for this?
I am using froth making electric wand, the problem I am facing is the amount of milk that is needed. The milk is empty right while I am making a shape of the heart, and if there is milk the heart is like a ghost leaving a dead body.
Getting coffee ground to the right degree isn't proving easy - though I might ask one of the local roasters to do some. The other problems for me: I have only one very large French press - it's not my preferred method for home basic coffee, I use a German cone instead. That French press, though, is not in a metal frame, unlike my partner's more sensibly sized one which is, and I find it's not easy to get the beaker out - if I could get another one of that size but in a plastic holder, I'd be more likely to attempt this.
The way I do it; 1)water in boiler. 2)2-3 table spoons coffee and add to press 3) milk in pot, max heat, 4) pour hot water, 5) milk off stove 6)press coffee and pour in cup 7)fast clean of press 8) pour milk in press, give it a few pushes 9) pour milk cream in cup. I don't measure anything at all anymore. But I did initially, until I knew when X-part was done, then y-part was ready. Try that approach, and you feel like it's an art🙂
Now I'm confused .what's the difference between flat white ,cappuccino and latte? How did he know it's a flat white? All three have milk and coffee. Can his tongue detect milk to coffee ratio? Also what is a Mocha? I see this new trend of green coffee bean/ power. Are they any good compared to roasted coffee? Also I live in a very hot country so can you show other cold coffee beverage/ cocktails/ smoothies to make? Thank you.
Hey Victor, we used whole milk in the video, however you can pretty much use any milk you like, however we found whole to be the easiest to texture with. Let us know if you have success with any alternatives. Cheers.
"Unless you're a drug dealer or James Hoffman" had me rolling on the floor!
? why mention james Hoffman? I dont get it?

This comment. Gold. 🤣
I got to this channel and video from James Hoffman 🤣😂

@ConfusedOilPainter Fully aware it's not a real espresso, hence the use of ' ' around espresso.
Wow, what a great hack, didn't know you could make frothy milk with a french press. Nice video
Thanks for watching! Stay fuelled.
French press l̤̮㋡l̤̮
For anyone here now, you can also warm milk and then shake it in a mason jar or blending container.
Hmmmm.... Should we try?

Awesome.
Liked straight away after the James Hoffman comment.....😂
Plot twist: James Hoffman is a drug-dealer. 🤣

Holy crap. I've just tried this & it worked like a charm. Thank you 👏👏☕

Kazi Iqbal I would use a Vietnamese pot for the coffee, and my French press for the milk.
This has saved my life during lockdown. Thank you

6t Coffee
Boiling water Halfway of the frenchpress
Brew for 4 mins
6oz of milk
Heat for 1min using microwave
I've been looking everywhere for a way to make the perfect froth without the machines omg thank you so much!!!!!

I wanna see a video like that for flat white milk too! Like is the milk in a flat white the same as the latte milk or thinner?
It depends where in the world you order a flat white, but we make ours with slightly thinner milk than a latte.
I have been doing this for quite some time, with great results. I'm happy to see it being shared.

Wonder if it’s my coffee grounds because I didn’t get that nice “crema” look to it when I poured
Can I put the rest of the unused filtered coffee in the fridge for another day? And how long would it last in the fridge? Thanks for the video!!
Love it !!! Thank you

How many ml fit in that french press?
Hi there, great video! But can I use medium coarse coffee to make it?
How about the rest of coffee ground? Are they fully extracted or can be used later?
Haha. Brilliant.

Nah, its just an easy way to heat milk
My milk has a lot of foam and it looks like capuccino. Any advice how to make it perfect?
Thank youuu ❤️
Indeed
hi. i have a question. whats the purpose of waiting for 4 minutes before plunging the coffee?
Whats the name of the coffee maker? Is it french press? Its smaller though

I'd happily take instruction from Chloe any day. But Daniel....well?
Preppers who plan on bartering with things like salt , coffee & sugar if stuff hits the fan keep Digital scales at home too.
Did you use a course ground coffee?
Name of the song in the outro?
alright time to buy a french press then.
James Hoffmann approved xD
