Thanks for sharing! Quick feedback: I would try to increase the volume of your audio for the next videos. I'm at maximum on my laptop and I can barely hear you :)
Hey, Thanks so much. This was very useful. I wanted to understand the logic behind defining these values. Would love to read something on this to get clarity.
This is very easy to do :) You can do it quickly by creating a segment in the Full URL view. This is quick (and retroactive) but it won't let you make complex segments without editing the segment itself. The other way is to create separate views for the subdomains (like I have and you can see in the video). It is basically a copy of the Full URL view with added one filter to remove all the pageviews that don't contain the subdomain. I can make another video to show this... tnx for asking :)
Thanks for the video, a very nice explanation! In order to set up a view specifically to analyze the traffic and performance of the subdomain separately from the other domain/sub-domains should I just add a filter with the subdomain on the include only/traffic to the hostname and insert the sub-domain? or is there another better way?
Yes, it can be done with a filter in the view... but you can also filter the subdomain traffic in the main view, using segments. Personally I prefer to work on the main view with segments.
@@aboptimization I see, thanks for the tip. Will look into it for sure. In my case, since I need to manage different user access for this specific sub-domain it will make more sense to do it with a view like in the video? What do you think?
Can you please do this for the new Google analytics, G 4 …. Please create another video explaining this. This is exactly what I needed. Please make an update.
Thank you for the useful video ! May I ask in terms of creating goals , will the main and Subdomain still reports the goals/ conversions on the FULL URL view?
Hey man, nice in-depth video! Quick question just to clarify all of this. Do I need to insert the tracking ID onto each subdomains and main domain firstly, then sort out my view and create filters like you've done here? Thanks.
Do you have an answer for subdomains where the primary domain name is not yours, but yours is the subdomain. Do I create a subdomain name account only in google analytics in this particular situation.
That depends. Do you have access to GA of the main domain? If so, I'd use the setup described in the video. If not, then go with a different GA property.
@@aboptimization Thank you for your quick response. I just set it up with the subdomain and am now getting proper analytics. It's working just fine now. Thanks again.
Hey, I want to track page views of My main site and my sub-domain separately. How can I do that? Plz help me I have tried a lot watched all available videos but still not able to find out.
Easy. You need to do what I explain in this video and later you can create two separate views, one reporting for the main domain and one reporting for the subdomain. However, I would still suggest having a third view where you have all data together, so you can make a more meaningful analysis.
@@aboptimization Actually I was using Google Analytics for my main domain from last 2-3 years. A couple of days back I created a sub-domain. Now looking to track that. Currently I am able to track just by adding the Javascript code of my main property in the sub-domain. But thr issue currently is visitors of both sites is being shown in thr All Websites data. I tried the steps explained in the video. Created a video and then added the filter by the way it was explained. I have also added my main domain in referal exclusion list. If you follow everything correctly, your "Full URL" view will contain URLs for all the subdo mains. You can verify this under Behaviour > Site Content > All pages. If you do not see full URLs containing the subdomain names, then your view is implemented wrongly. Go back to the video and fix it. Hello! We have an e-shop on a subdomain. Our company's main site is "www.brand.com" and the eshop is "www.eshop.brand.com". I successfuly created a "subdomain view" on the analytics of the main domain, but I also want to track actions and conversions of the subdomain. What should I do? Thanks in advance.
No additional action is necessary: ) Events and conversions are tracked as usual for both the main domain and the subdomain ...provided of course you are firing the events correctly on the subdomain as well.
@@aboptimization so the only way is with UA universal analytics at the moment and putting the same script in every website subdomain right? many thanks

Hey Gethin... yes, place the GA ID on your page as you would normally do (with GA snippet or through GTM) and then go make the view with filter in GA.
@@aboptimization Thanks man, helps a lot! Thanks for the reply too.
How come when I go to "all pages" or "content drilldown" I don't see the subdomained full URL. I only see in "real time".
Changes in GA are not retroactive.
You will see the full URL in "Site content" only for data collected after the change.

Can we track transactions happening on subdomain? When we have google analytics installed on both domain and subdomain?
Sure, this happens in any case when you use the same GA property.
When we click the sub domain link in main website the url parameters are too lengthy. How to remove that?
Nothing is showing up when I go to Site Content > All Pages? I would like to see how many pageviews the subdomain had last month 🙏
If you don't get any pageviews on the filtered view, you probably used the wrong settings in the filter.

GA4 does it out of the box.
