Hi! I have never seen Orlaya this tall. I have been trying to grow them for commercial use but they are not like this. So several questions: do you think it needs some type of cloth shading if it’s grown in warmer temperatures? And, would you account the length to day length? So if you don’t have this naturally, would you do intermittent lighting to stimulate it? Thanks
Thank you for asking! Yes, the height is directly connected to the change in day length as we leave the Persephone period. We do only know them to get this tall in a hoop house setting when overwintered. Orlaya does prefer full sun, but they do not typically get this tall in a field setting. We have not trialed shade cloth or supplemental lighting to try and get this type of height.
