I actually don't think Aly is retiring yet. She's taking a break but she hasn't talked about retiring at all. I hope not! I don't think we'll see her in 2020 but she may continue her career for a bit longer😊
+GrangerDangerx TBH I would love to see her become the next Chusovitina just because Aly is one of my favorite gymnasts! She also seems to just get better with age so why not continue for a little longer and see where it takes her?

I hope Aly or Laurie would not be screwed in AA at Rio if they beat Gabby at Trials again. Marta please be fair
u know politics will give Gabby that right to compete AA. money will come into play and Gabby brings in $$$$$.. laurie or aly will get screwed and if laurie go pro after the trials then I think Aly will get screwed. if they chose not to take a bar specialist and give Maggie with a strong floor and vault. then aly, simone, laurie and gabby can fight for the 2 spots.
+michelle gravesande If Aly, Laurie, and Gabby are all on the team, I predict Marta will let Aly and Gabby duke it out in quals for the second AA spot,and Laurie will not get that opportunity. Which is a shame, cause I feel that at this point in time Laurie is slightly better, and much more consistent than Gabby.
+michelle gravesande aly went pro nearly 9 months before London. If Laurie goes pro after trials she won't benefit any until after the Olympics. No time for ads or endorsements in the next 2 weeks. I doubt that would influence the AA decision for Laurie. It might for the other 2. I wish it wouldn't. I think aly and Laurie have earned it over gabby.
yes I know aly went pro yrs ago. but Laurie if pro has that "IT" factor she can bring in tons of $$$$.
Totally. Aly's has better potential scores and is more consistent with better routines, not just a bunch of mediocre routines like Gabby.

The team decides. I'm guessing since she has won sportsperson 2 years in a row that her teammates really love her. I think she will be. The only other choice is Simone but even she has said that Aly is their leader and talks to the team before every event.
When are the olympic trials? I've heard lots of different dates so I'm a little confused.
Day 1 is tomorrow. It'll show on NBC at 9 pm. Day 2 is on Sunday and it'll show on NBC at 8:30 pm. Or you could watch the live broadcast (of both days) on NBC's website or app a half an hour before it shows on tv.

Guys! I'm not American so please help me! What will decide this Trials? Who will be in the Olympics Team from the USA oe whar? And how many members will be there? beceuse I've heard 5 members (as it was 4 years ago) but I've also heard 4 members..

Hi! The USA's Olympic Trials for Women's Gymnastics is this Friday, July 8th and Sunday, July 10th. The Olympic team will be announced on Sunday, so we don't officially know who is on the team at this point. There will be five members.
5 members get to go. Unlike last year there is no guaranteed spot for the top AA. We will know the team on the 10th!
Marta Korolyi picks the girls after the trials and those girls will go to the Olympics and 5 girls will get picked and I think 2 alternates
There will be 5 members and the selection committee will decide at the end of the Olympic trials

Idk why but I kind of feel though if one fierce five member will make it back to the Olympics it will be her and not Gabby. Aly seems really strong, and so does Gabby but I just feel there's too many girls who are better.
I agree. Aly has a better shot at individual medals. gabby can contribute a lot to the team score tho
