  • I spent the weekend tidying up some unfinished business. Steering, rear end, chain clearance, and boxing a-arms. I know you want a revving engine and me to be closer to completion, but things need to happen in order and with a purpose. I hope showing you guys how I build mine helps you with your project. Thank you for tuning in.

      Amazon. Flashpower 350mm. Took a really long time to find it.

    Hello. I also want to build such a buggy for a very long time, from the moment I first saw how the Finns were driving them, I also liked this design. it resembles the design of Spanish speed cars. I also liked your buggy, I would buy drawings from you, but I am preparing mine for the Honda cbr 954 rr engine. I will have questions for you, could you answer them sometimes? I look at you using an online translator, so I understand you a little, it's also unusual for me to measure in inches, I always used metric ones. So far, my first question is about the rear wheels, could you write down what size the rear tires are?

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      There is a build group set up on facebook. I hope a translator can work there too. A lot of questions have already been answered and it’s working really well. Wheels are 10” by 8” and the tires are 18” x 10” for a 10” rim. Or 225/40-10.

    I like the rear end setup, except for how limited you appear to be on sprocket size. My buggy is running a 14T on the engine, and 54T on the rear, with 29inch tires, I don't think your setup would allow a 54T

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      So sprocket size is just a ratio, for the transmission in the motorcycle engine, a a 14/54 setup on 29’s would be a max speed of like 70mph redlined in 6th gear. A 13/48 setup would fit really well and have a VERY similar ratio to run the same tires.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      I just run a sprocket that is the same size or smaller than the brake rotor. The mounting tabs for the rear end can be adjusted to run a bigger sprocket clearance wise.

    • @GearScar
      @GearScar 3 года назад

      My sprocket setup is kinda odd ball, my buggy is very similar to yours, except I’ve built it for driving up logging roads and steep rocky off-road terrain, so top speed is not an important factor for me, horsepower/torque to the wheels is what’s needed. Unfortunately where I am, there is no big open flat fields. So if I used a setup like yours with smallish rear sprocket and 29” tires needed for my terrain, I’d be very underpowered and would probably go thru clutches fast.

    • @GearScar
      @GearScar 3 года назад

      And yes a 13/48 would be similar, and I tried to do that, but there is no front sprocket smaller than a 14 made for my engine (odd I know, searched and searched). So big rear sprocket has been my only option

  • @prest0n755
    @prest0n755 2 года назад

    The rear sprocket is in the way of the rear suspension(not functionally) why didn't you put it more inside the chassis? Also for suspension springs with wishbone suspension torsion bars might work.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад

      It always confuses me to see a comment like this.. I have made three of these and they all perform fantastically. I have plans available for the guys who have their own ideas. If you want to do a torsion bar setup then definitely do it and share it with the Facebook group. We would love to see your work 👍

    What did the front A-arms come off of?and where is the best place to get the tires from?

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      The a arms are aftermarket for a yamaha raptor 660. I got them secondhand so i don’t know who makes them, maybe full flight racing? Tires i bought from GPS offroad. They have some pretty cool stuff.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      You are absolutely correct sir. I’ve looked into them and definitely like them, but the nice ones are little steep in price and i like taking advantage of not having a swing arm, my chain has not stretched at all after 100’s of miles of abuse.

    • @quincyherbster5888
      @quincyherbster5888 3 года назад

      @@KJRaycing you did choose a stout chain but as a fabricator myself and an avid off roader I have broken many stout chains because of small rocks and sticks. If I had taken the time to make a chain guard I would not have needed the tensioner. It comes down as usual to personal preference.

      I use the factory chain guard to protect the case in case the chain breaks and skid plates underneath. I would really like to hear about your projects and where you ride. It is actually the best part of doing this channel.

      @@KJRaycing I'm in south east Kansas so I have some hills, deep river bottoms but I'm not too far from Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Meaning there's a bunch of fun to be had nearby. I have a couple flat shifter carts, I'm 90% finished with the Escalade rock bouncer. And now after watching your videos I'm thinking about my daughter building a car from your design as her first build. Since she already beats me in the flat carts. What is your opinion between clutch and chain or V belt?

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      That is completely amazing! I’m originally from ohio and miss the atv and off road friendly areas. NY is all smowmobiles and boats. Cvt is definitely and option but would need a bit of fabrication, but just for the upright right in front of the read center carrier. Take those out and it is wide open in the back. A-arms would just be have to be the swing axle type or i’ve put provisions in for a trailing arm suspension. The chassis is a big triangle so it should be strong enough for a younger persons machine but not a motorcycle engine. That would be an awesome time with your daughter, my youngest just plays roblox 😡. I instantly regretted the chromebook christmas!

      Because the track is wider than a 4 wheeler mostly. Check the suspension video, i do the math on it 👍💪
