I'm partial to the Rattan Vipers myself. With their damage reduction, I've gotten more hero kills from people trying to dive them thinking they're just squishy archers, only to find out that their hero does almost nothing to them. It's glorious when a maul tries to dive them and only manages to kill 3 or 4 before you and the unit can finish him off.
Honestly, they're one of the units that the arrow rain doctrine actually makes sense, their role is not to deal damage but to cripple the enemy stats with their poison so with arrow rain they can hit even when hidden away
I highly recommend swapping out the double shot and the rate of fire docs for more piercing penetration The increase of raw damage against units outweighs the extra fire + you essentially get more ammo from not firing as much. Also Rattan Vipers, with their damage reduction poison, its kind of a shame that each of the rattan units have different poison effects, despite being described as one
swapping out RoF doc: yes swapping out double shot: hell no. Poison is their main damage source and like all cross bow units they loose a significant amount of armor pen over distance. you still only scratching the 1500 pen which is an insignifiacant difference to the 1400pen for heavy classes or ISG. 1400pen though is still enough to deal nearly full damage to monks or onna musha with their 300-400 piercing armor. But Ammo is a key doctrine and a far better option. the Marksmen also have damage reduction. but its "only" half of Vipers. Its still 35% less damage with 7 stacks
For a 3star unit this is the real deal, the posion effect stacking up earning more supportive contributions way better than any Longbow or Archer unit that didnt have any supportive.
It was the first Unit, I leveled after the cap increase end of last season. Maybe even first on the server. since then I played them in nearly every siege. Swapping out the RoF for Ammo should be a priority of yours. My Docs: Gunsight Doc V, Poison Doc V, Ammo Doc IV, Double shot, crossbow doc II (200pen)
Oh good, with the add in the tech tree wanted to know how good they are. Tried three games but they kept getting wipe fast before i could fully try them out
Only archer unit of mine that can stop a hero dive. they lower their damage so much they sometimes dont lose anyone! Exelent support fire too at a decent range, accuracy and fire rate. Arrow Rain for fast poisioning is cheese and cool!
Blue Units are the best. Perform great, relatively cheap and like these has a cool trick to it. At around 9 minutes you fear getting them out into the ballista fire, but if you scatter them, then that ballista shooting you isnt focused on T5 units or heroes, you are passively weakening the enemy, and you can afford to! These dont have the problem of gold units of having too few guys.
Dude, your videos are great, I really learnt a lot from them. Just one feedback if you like, pls don't make "Sssss" sound while breathing, it's sometimes feel so annoying. Hope it will help you :)
yeah they added mastery for units but not all yet, the battle pass is okay, and the player count is pretty high. There isnt many dominating units except maybe the new onna musha.
This season is pretty gud tbh. Onna musha (the new unit) has high dps but not as broken OP like what CB usually makes . They are powerful but killable .
wait whut ? no dominating unit aside from onna musha ? what about that lolcav from previous season ??? cc immunity, can wipe pike units, basically no counter except catching them with a range unit.. everyone is complaining about that shit

How do you get these doctrines?? Is there an easy way to get some of them?
I love this unit, i use them to ambush cavs, and fire at them from behind, like you say they cant take a hit so i use them as a sneaky unit
How to get the poison doctrine? Is it Archer, Cav, Melee excavation site? Or is it a result of fusing purple doctrines together to get a Tier V.
