Metropolitan Youth Symphony performs Elysian Grace by Regina Carter

Program Notes: Elysian Grace is titled for my little cousin,Elysian Grace who carries my late mother’s name,Grace. Writing this piece was both exciting and challenging. The most difficult part was sticking to an idea; I would start the piece and after composing a good chunk, change my mind and toss it out. The musical moods in the piece represent the personalities of two year old Elysian one might meet on any given day- sassy, inquisitive, persistent and adorable.
