This is what the people deserve when it comes to animation since animation is not just limited to kids but adults as well! Looking forward to this one for sure!
Yeah I'm not too familiar with Lupin the 3rd either but I might as well give a synopsis based on what I know. So Lupin the 3rd and his gang featuring the gunmaster and voice of reason Jigen, and the old fashioned but quite overpowered Goemon, travel the world stealing valuabes and treasures for the thrill of it and for Lupin to honor his family line of thivery. They aren't exactly super bad guys, often encountering people much more on the evil side of things than they are. They often sit in a grey area so to speak morally. The gang is constantly followed by Inspector Zenigata, from the Police who is hellbent on trying to lock Lupin up behind bars, along with Fujiko, Lupin's "crush" so to speak (He's quite perverted a lot of the time) but also a massive manipulator, often using the gang in order to get what she wants, leaving them in the dirt. Depending on which season or movie you watch the tone can vary widely from being super serious, gory, deep and harsh, to goofy and slapsticky, or anywhere in between. The world of Lupin the 3rd follows any kind of logic it wants to follow, even if non existant depending on what's the most fun in a given situation. I mean just look at any scene involving Goemon using his weapon. If you wonder where to start, it doesn't matter too much since the show is episodic and each season is self contained. Though one of the most beloved seasons is part 2, being one of the more comedic ones focusing most on the character interactions. The newer part 5 is also pretty highly praised, and the movie "Castle of Cagliostro" is also very loved, partly for being Hayao Miyazaki's first film (the guy who would go on to create Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro amongst other famous films).
@@Jothomas214 >and a lot more kid-friendly u wot m8 The tone and kid-friendliness varies greatly between the various series and movies. The "Castle of Cagliostro" is quite family-friendly, but the original manga and the anime series "The Woman Called Fujiko Mine" is adult entertainment, period. Not even counting that movie about Goemon, where his sword is actually put to use in cutting human beings...
@@MrPool-vr6mi There was a Chinese CG cartoon that came out a year or two ago, and it was very serious in tone, and I thought it worked pretty well. "The Snake" or something. Also Ed is pretty cartoony, she'd be great in CG.
@@GoddoDoggo Are you talking about white snake? I don't think white snake is that serious in tone. The fight scenes are pretty goofy, while Cowboy Bebop grounds their fight scenes in realism when the atmosphere is more serious. There is no way you can portray something like Asteroid Blues or Ballad of the Fallen Angels in this CG Style without loosing a lot of that dark feel. If the CG were more cinematic looking that might work, but definitley not in this style and I doubt any company would actually invest in a realistic CG that would be required for a Cowboy Bebop animation. Live-Action would probably be the better option if you find the right showrunner (which I don't think Netflix has btw, but thats another discussion).

I'm ready for all the "friggin hell" they can put into this movie 😂
Oh hell yeah!
"Inshallah, you two. That basically means 'good friggin luck, pal!.'" ~ Jigen
Yep! In addition to Tony Oliver being my favorite English-language Lupin, Richard Epcar is my favorite English-language Jigen. (Plus he and Tony IMO had the most hysterically funny chemistry in their in-character interactions, both in Series 2 and in The Mystery of Mamo - and I can already see snippets of that chemistry in just this short trailer, so - HUZZAH!!!)
Seeing him wear what I presume is his grandfather's top hat just put the biggest, dumbest grin on my face. I think I'm going to really like this.
So this is where Joseph Joestar went after Battle Tendency 1:33

Reminds me of Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop more
Damn Star never knew you were interested in these things. Good to know and glad to see.

I never imagined I would ever hear these exceptional actors reprise these roles again.
They came back for Lupin III Parts 4 & 5 ("Blue Jacket") just a couple years ago.
And Michelle Ruff even flew down to Texas in 2013 to reprise Fujiko when Funimation dubbed the Fujiko Miné series.
all these comments just make me smile. its so cool that so many people can discover this timeless series thanks to this wonderful movie. if anyone needs pointers on where to start with lupin feel free to comment, ive seen every single ova, movie, and show lol

It's been years since I last remember watching the anime on late night Adult Swim as a teenager, but hearing that theme song brought a year to my eye and a lump in my throat. Such a great character and cast to surround him. And one of the best theme songs ever
We need more movies like these in the future
Well, that Tintin sequel is probably not going to happen, but at least we have Lupin

TINTIN WAS SO GOOD WHAT HAPPENED?
The original dub cast! ... I MUST CONSULT THIS WITH THE ELDER GODS!
I get it because of Richard Epcar.
Lupin’s music is always so freaking good!
Anybody else remember watching this when you were a kid on Adult Swim, back when the Adult Swim commercials were just old people in a pool?

I was for sure a kid in that pool 🤣

Man the hype levels for this movie are through the roof! We not only got the VAs from the anime but we now know a bit more about the plot! I’m intrigued! This film deserves to be nominated for the Golden Globe for the Academy Awards!
This movie was my first introduction to the Lupin iii franchise and lemme tell you I LOVED soni kept digging and then i discovered part 5 and watched ALL of it and now i'm Lupin's number one fan(with the exception of his Manga counterpart)

I love how well the 2-d style translated so well into 3-D animation.
This style looks like how Disney animated Frozen.
Rest in peace Monkey Punch I hope this series continues after the movie 🙏🏽
Used to watch Lupin the third when I was in high school in the mid 90s. Glad to see a movie made!!!!
I stumbled upon Lupin as a kid. Couldn't stop laughing at the antics Lupin gets into with Zenigata. My first episode was when Fujiko saw Nessy and it all spiraled form there. Hearing these voices brings me so much nostalgia.
After much of how bad 2020 has been for me, seeing this classic with a fresh coat of paint really made my day.
The best theme, the best English cast... We need another scene of Zenigata's classic "Crap, crap, damn it all, crap, crap, crap!"
I'm hoping for another 3D animated movie cause I know I'm going to re-watch this hundreds of times.
This whole series is a masterpiece of its own...
It's been months since the first teaser dropped, and I still can't get over how perfect the translation from 2D to CG is.
Never heard of this before but I saw the thumbnail I thought to myself “this has got to be based off an anime” and I was correct it looks incredible! This is what the people deserve when it comes to animation since animation is not just limited to kids but adults as well! Looking forward to this one for sure!
I wasn't expecting LEX LANG to be here. His performance as goemon is awesome!
Jigen sounds like he's about to consult the Elder Gods
I get it becuz of Richard Epcar.
Ishiki
I've never heard of Lupin, but this seems like anime Indiana Jones.
And a lot more kid-friendly.
Which one?
Watch Castle of Cagliostro
@@Jothomas214
>and a lot more kid-friendly
u wot m8
The tone and kid-friendliness varies greatly between the various series and movies. The "Castle of Cagliostro" is quite family-friendly, but the original manga and the anime series "The Woman Called Fujiko Mine" is adult entertainment, period. Not even counting that movie about Goemon, where his sword is actually put to use in cutting human beings...
This cast! This particular set of voices DEFINE the characters in my eyes.
As much as I resent CGI anime, this absolutely NAILS Lupin the 3rd's style.
Could you imagine cowboy bebop in this cg artstyle.
I’d love it and hate it simultaneously
It doesn't fit cowboy bebop. It would be too light hearted.
@@MrPool-vr6mi There was a Chinese CG cartoon that came out a year or two ago, and it was very serious in tone, and I thought it worked pretty well. "The Snake" or something.
Also Ed is pretty cartoony, she'd be great in CG.
Bruh the chills
I never wanna hear another Lupin cast than this
FUN FACT!: LUPIN III: The First was animated by TMS Entertainment's 3D Animation Studio, Marza Animation Planet!, the same studio behind the Sonic: Night of the Werehog short film (as Sega Sammy VE Animation Studios) and Co-Animated the Sonic Movie with Paramount Animation!!!
They also Animated many of the CG Cutscenes in many of SEGA's hit Games like Sonic Generations and Phantasy Star Online 2!
TMS Entertainment is also the Same Guys who made, Sonic X, Lupin III, AKIRA, Dr. Stone, Detective Conan (Case Closed), Tower of God, Magic Knight Rayearth, Fruits Basket (2020), Rent-A-Girlfriend and Megalo Box!
I saw Sonic and just started playing PSO2 earlier this year. All things come full circle, huh?
Fun fact! Everyone in the comments:
