As a native English speaker (American), I'm just gonna say that I personally think Ayu's English is fine here. She sure as hell speaks better English than I would speak Japanese. And she still manages to bring her intelligence and her sense of lyricism across well in English.
She is having great difficulty projecting emotion into her English and the right emotion. Japanese and English are very different. Even Gackt who has been speaking English for about two decades sometimes has issues. Even so Ayu comes across as intelligent, independent, professional, fierce and mature. Her whole attitude says woman, its wonderful.
If you think Ayumi Hamasaki has changed in the way you don't like it. Yes she did, She's much mature now, and if you're about to judge her English speaking skills, well English is not her first and main language. She's being interviewed in Hongkong, Ofcourse she have to speak English 'cause she's being interviewed by a chinese guy. We all know that she's a jpop star. Also, if you're really a fan of hers, you should know by now that she's married to a western man which means they also communicate in English.

I don't think I saw the same interview as other people based on these comments. This is the most relaxed and at peace Ayu has seemed to me in her whole career. I believe she's exactly where she wants to be in life emotionally and mentally just listening to her here, because it seems to be the first time she's not putting on airs to appeal to anyone. I strongly believe her talents would be better used producing an up-and-coming young talent the way Mylene Farmer produced Alizee in France, but she insists on continuing to sing well past her best performing years. Keep being you and I wish you nothing but happiness, Ayu, but I worry that your company and fans won't hang on forever with the direction you're going.
