Great video, very enlightening. One question I have, this freight you showed picking up on August 8th and leaving on August 13th, if by chance it arrives earlier than expected, could you leave the cargo?
Holy cow a burrito was 2000 calories!? 😂 I’ll have to check that out next time I get one. Since everything in nutrition facts is based off a 2000 cal/day diet I guess that burrito is supposed to be your whole day according to FDA lol.
Well sort of.. It was a breakfast burrito in the morning and then a Mexican bowl in the afternoon... I simplify some food items into the same group so I don't have so many columns. But ya it was not an ideal day.
@@truckingthesevenseas ah I see, that makes sense. Honestly I don’t calorie count and today that seems to be old school weight loss, however if you’ve lost 8lbs it is working some. I’ve come to notice cutting out certain foods or certain food groups completely for an extended time shows real results. And the fasting of course. I’ve never struggled with weight and I actually lost 15lbs when I started driving because I was forgetting to eat 😂 I had also fasted for a week once and had nothing but water. Lost a total of 15lbs. Was crazy to watch weight fall off so quickly on the scale.
I'm confused about the hotel. I understand the need for A/C in that heat, but why would you need to idle your truck for so long? You installed a new APU only a few months ago - is it still out of service?
It works OK during the night so it does save me some costs by staying in the truck. The hotel is partly for pleasure... Gets me out of the truck, have a bathroom, shower, breakfast, gym, etc for effectively only about $30-40 more per night after considering the idling costs. Well worth it IMO.
APU’s I have learned unfortunately can’t always keep up with the heat. Sometimes the truck engine is needed to at least build up cool air and hopefully you have good insulation and the APU can keep it steady. But mid day over 100 degrees, unless you have one of the brand new electric ones you can forget about it.
@@fighter4christ7 are you talking about a REAL APU or Opti-Idle. I"m using opti-idle as I type this and it sounds exactly like what I have. Considering the costs of APUs, we'd think they'd be able to keep up with any heat
@@CarryMePlz2239 Real APU’s. I have the Carrier Comfort Pro. It only operates 2 vents in my sleeper which is not sufficient and has its own A/C lines. The trucks A/C system carries much more of a charge.
Why would you not add taxes and truck insurance? I know it’s a big cost per month. I’ve noticed a lot of RUclipsrs never revel the actual net after ALL the deductions. I’m assuming to just make the net look better? Don’t get me wrong I appreciate the content that’s put out to help truckers like me that’s thinking of becoming an O/O with landstar but trying to figure in my head how much taxes and insurance would drop the profit is kinda scary!
At 18:56 it seems like your expenses are undercalculated by about $160. Maybe im wrong though and am not following your math. Either way great vid. Enjoy the info. Seems like loadstar takes a large cut. I'm just curious: Do you feel its truly worth it, or are you getting your money worth paying them?
If your working all week to bring home anything less than $3k weekly, your wasting your time while making all the middle men more money with almost no overhead. Trucking is a migrant workers party now... flip floppers are rampant.
next you are going to say that you make $4k/week as a company driver , home every night, meals paid for, etc.. 🤣 You right about the migrant workers party, FS
@CarryMePlz2239 no, I got out of the trucking game as O/O. Run local hauling someone else's equipment with their equipment. No maintenance worries, etc. I'm glad to bring in $2500 a week with no expenses other than food. OTR isn't worth the hassle or stress anymore. Life is too short. I work to live, not live to work...
Congratulations 👏 Glad to see you finally had profitable runs. Hopefully you can build a consistent customer base with some of these brokers that will like you specifically to run their customer freight. Good luck 👍
Just curious, have you been keeping up with some exercise? I think I saw a treadmill in one of your videos last year. I remember thinking "that's gotta be a heavy!"
Profit loss (P/L) is just a generally accounting term that's used to describe a companies accounting... Sometimes a company makes a profit... Sometimes a loss. So its called a P/L.
Yes I do actually. I am likely looking to start my own fleet/authority next year. I haven't announced anything on the channel yet as I'm still planning it. Its the next logical step for me... Company driver, lease operator, O/O leased on to company, now O/O with authority, then fleet owner.
I had a 17 cascadia bought it new and had 900000 miles on it when I sold it lifetime fuel mileage was 7.9 mpg and I pull a reefer and alway heavy always drove 63 mph to no more than 66 mph anything over 65 mph was throwing $ out of the exhaust pipe lol
Depending on your engine specs, if you can keep your RPM below 1500, you'll get way better fuel economy. That means you'll probably be running around 65 down the highway. A little slower than what you're normally running, so pros and cons
Just fine... I haven't really made headway into any specific lane though. I don't think I'm going to focus on finding a lane tbh. I just follow the best loads and the best areas. If I happen to find an agent that has dedicated loads going to those areas... Then maybe I'll work something out.
@@truckingthesevenseas yea it will come. ur one of those guys that dont care shere u go, long as you makin money. thats real truccin💪🏼 u gon b jus fine keep makin it work for u bro.
Heck you're making a full $1 per mile more than I am making. My last load for linehaul after the linehaul split and fsc was taken out it was 68 cpm not much decent paying freight ATM with landstar.
Sometimes you have to do a lower profit load to get to a better market rate. Money is the major factor in determining the best outcome. Stay safe

Those pickup and drop times are not correct. There's usually a window and the app just shows random dates in between the windows.

Insurance covered by landstar. If you want to back your tax rate out it would be easy enough for you to do with whatever circumstances you have.

What song is that in the beginning of the video
Why are you hauling anything below $2.20 to the truck this is 2024 operating costs
If you get a pump and hose and take the guy's fuel next to you while he sleeps, you can get your operating cost way down.
