LG V60 ThinQ 5G Final Verdict: A Really Good Phone at a Really Good Price!

  • This is my final review on the LG V60 ThinQ 5G. It's a really good phone at a really good price! And, I'd even wager to say that it's the best Android phone for most people. It brings a lot to the table, it has 5G, the latest flagship Snapdragon 865 processor, and it's running Android 10 - And did I mention that it even supports a second screen, turning it into a folding phone?

      Its not so much that they do a horrible job at marketing, they just dont spend a substantial amount of money like samsung or apple to market the phone another reason why LG is able to offer a better price for the electronics they offer. LG is also at the top when it come to kitchen appliances and The OG OLED tv display. Not to mention non of the top load washers or note phones have ever exploded in peoples homes or pockets 👀.

      Hi, Thank you for all your video's
      I have a question I hope you can answer because I've been trying to find out an honest answer...
      I have a Samsung note 8
      I really want the LG V60.
      I tried to get one back in march 2020 and it was very hard to transfer everything over and was taking FOREVER!
      So I never got it bcuz the guys at the so call off the wall Authorize Verizon store messed up, so I said forget it.
      I've been asking around and I heard it was really hard and it does take a long time to transfer over all my information from my Samsung to the LG.
      Is this true and why is that?
      When the LG has 2x the space.
      I never had a problem with Samsung to Samsung, they are both android's.
      Do you have any suggestions For me plz.

I was surprised to see i had to turn the brightness up all the way on the V8 to get it close to the V60 at 70 brightness. QHD is a marketing gimmick, for fine text maybe editing okay, however for media consumption I thought think the V60 is awesome. Of course gaming 😂

    Question about 2 things I read::
    1= On the TMobile app someone wrote a review on this phone saying that they had theirs in the case and it fell off the couch. They said that although the case had protected both of the screens, the outer part/screen cracked. (So I'm assuming that there's a little screen display that shows the date/time, I remember a Samsung phone I had awhile ago had that with the option of the "always on display" , does this have something like that? And if so, is it really that fragile? Is there about way to protect it?)
    And
    2= on a YT video about this phone someone commented that they liked it but the emoji's on it sucked. (?) Not that this part is super important or effects the functionality, but I'm still curious about it! What emojis is it missing? I assumed phones pretty much all had the same ones 🤷

    • @TechOdyssey
      @TechOdyssey  4 года назад

      I am not overly concerned about one report of someone's phone falling off the couch. The case seems durable enough and also, I wouldn't expect it to unless it fell onto tile if it landed badly. Regarding emojis, I didn't see any issue with them? Seemed like normal emojis to me.

    “No one is going to pay $1000 for an LG phone”
    I would, in fact you can’t get the V60 in the UK and the only ones on eBay that you can use here are about £1200 with the dual screen ($1576) because they are so good and unique. It isn’t just good for the price, LG phones are the best in the market period for content creation, multitasking, arguably durability, manual control, and up there with the Xperia 1ii and iPhone for video, but with much more control than the latter. It also has Wacom AES for proper stylus use. This should be a $1k+ phone as it is.

    After 1 month of having the phone (based on a previous recommendation from this channel), I can tell you first and foremost the review done here is very comprehensive. He touches all the major aspects of the phone. Having the phone I can't live without the dual-screen now that I have set it up to show my emails on the left and my regular communication on the main screen. I also purchased the pen and use it regularly. The downside is that you could lose the pen as it does not have a magnetic attachment or polarity to the phone. The battery life is superb given that I watch a 1.5-hour video on Netflix, made 4 phone calls for about 30 mins each, surfed the internet, watched youtube videos all day and it is still at 44% at 11pm at night. The major downside is the charging adapter with the magstripe. You get one with the phone but they really need to give you more and the fact that LG Canada is out of stock on the adapter makes it challenging. I have ordered from the US and hope to get about 3-4 in the house so that I can have one at work, one in the car, and two spares for the house. Overall a superb under-rated phone in my opinion. Thanks for the review and all the hard work you put into the channel.

    Nice coverage on the V60. As a LG V60 owner, you're right on the dual screen, it's useful 20% of the time, but when it is, it's game changing. Not having to inturrupt my video to reply to texts. I'm happy to come across this comment. This is just what I was asking in my comment on another video- That I am considering this phone, but I had a few questions about the dual screen. One being that I dont intend on using it 24/7, (I wasn't sure if others felt the same way, but you hit it on the bullseye when you said it probably comes in handy 20% of the time, but when it does, its very helpful. Because I thought about the phone I have now, how often do I use the split screen/multi task function on it? Not all that often. But I use it. And when I do it really helps) so being that I don't plan to use the 2nd screen 24/7 I was curious about how easily it comes off, and do both screens have to be on at the same time? Like, is it either both screens are on or both screens are off?
      Or, if I'm scrolling thru my bank app- for example- and suddenly need my calculator, can I then quickly turn on the dual screen to multi task?
      Also, does anyone keep the dual screen at home? I was thinking of getting 2 cases, one that's for the dual screens, but then another single case, and maybe just leaving the dual screen at home. I assume the dual is bulky to have on the go, not to mention I don't do much multi tasking while I'm running errands.

      @@Catherine-nv7wc dual screen can come off but it is a tight case it fits into and can be pretty hard to get out. I personally like the dual screen on all the time as it folds closed and protects both screens. You can double tap the other screen to turn it on or off. And it will stay off if you fold the second screen all the way around to the back to hold it like a single phone. Based on my hand size I can open the phone and leave the second screen off and use the second screen to hold the phone comfortably.

    Information for anyone who bought this phone and have no kit, go to LG promotion. There you can select the LG V60 phone they'll need you to upload a picture of the sales receipt and your imei number on the V60 for a free dual screen kit. Your phone has to be purchase between 3/16/20 to 6/30/20 for the promotion to work and the promotion ends at 7/14/20. Id already sent mine and was approved my kit should be here in 3 to 6 week

    Sadly the starting price of V60 in my place (staying in Taiwan currently) is around 31900-33900 NTD (Around $1050-1100) which is quite ridiculous (*went to the roadshow and a staff said it's due to the tax). I'll get either V60 or Velvet (I hope you can do a review on it too) by the end of the year.. just need to wait for the price to go down ;).. nice review tho

    Not understanding why LG has taken facial recog out of ALL their phones. Granted, 2D facial is not all that secure, but compared to slow, finicky in-screen FP readers......

  • @ChrisJones-cn1ew
    @ChrisJones-cn1ew 4 года назад +1

    I bought this due to all the mostly positive RUclips reviews. However after realizing that LG rarely gives OS updates, 3rd party accessories are damn near non existent in comparison to other big name flagships, no facial recognition, and the refresh rate (which really is a big deal and hard to go backwards from 90 or better) I returned the phone. LG has a lot of potential in this and even the lesser costing Velvet, but they have to correct some of my gripes before I fully commit to another one of their phones.

    • @TechOdyssey
      @TechOdyssey  4 года назад +1

      Flagship means the best phone(s) they have. Their top tier line, so in LGs case it’s the V and G series. Apple is the pro series. Samsung is the S and Note series. I’m glad you’re enjoying the V60!

    One week later my phone slip out of my hand and I shattered the case screen!.

    Been rocking a V20 since it came out but it's getting very long in the tooth.
    Considering upgrading to a refurb V60 off ebay or a brand new TCL 20s Pro.
    V60 pros: Quad DAC, 3.5mm jack (I play drums with wired shure IEM's), better camera than TCL, IP68
    TCL pros: Better priced than V60, 2 years newer
    Main concern with the V60 is that both my V20's have terrible screen ghosting after 15-18 months... I assume the V60 will be the same.
    Thoughts?
    I will miss the rear fingerprint reader but my carrier doesn't carry Pixel 5's.
    Cheers

    Thanks for the video. I think Im going for it. One tip from a nobody, lol - I wish you focused a little more on the phone design and looks, as you're reviewing it, if you could slide in some nice closeup photos, or even a slow, smooth video of it, just to get an idea how it really looks like, what stands out and what doesn't. It would really help decide, as some of us can't help but take the design seriously as well. Ergonomics above all. For the most part it's in the case too :(, which didn't help. Just an idea, so we don't have to look for that second video that would show just that. Thank You again! 🍻🙏🤟

Likely if you're looking to save a few bucks and want a couple extra features and don't care about 5G, the V50 will do you just fine. I used it last year as well and liked it a lot.

      Reliability is fine as far as android is concerned, but it’s not getting support for like 5 years like apple does. They are not in the same league in that regard.
