I don't end up doing many EX clears since I'm not big into PF. That said, I got pulled in last minute to be a 2nd tank for an FC group for this fight last night and it was a blast. We didn't quite clear, but I felt pretty good about how well I was figuring things out. This video definitely helped me clear up the last couple things I wasn't super sure about, and I'm actually super pumped to try it again tonight, assuming I can get over my apparent PF phobia, lol
Lemme tell ya, I never would have started Savage raiding if I hadn't been dragged in by a friend who believed in me more than I did, too. 1,000% worth it. If you're genuinely trying to play your best and people end up being mean to you, those aren't people who's opinions you should value or play with. But the vast majority of players will treat you with patience and kindness, so long as you're open about your level of experience going in. I hope you're able to summon the courage to have another go of it, and if you do, I hope you have a great time of it! ^^
Just something of hint. You can(you should) use Addle in Hair Raid after puddles variation. If you wait and Addle before Aero IV finish cast(roomwide), it will cover following AeroIII(tank buster) aswell. It helps healers as its lots of damage in short time. Specially second Hair Raid later.
So many mechanic in this fight is one people die = two people die = cascade into wipe, pretty hard to recover, at least comparing with previous EX trial.
There are certain "recover points" where you can almost ress an entire party between phases where the boss is just standing there doing nothing for ~15s. The DPS check is lenient so either you have no deaths and kill her before Entangelment 1 or you have a lot of resses and such and go through the whole second loop. I think its just well designed. It's much harder than the previous ex trial mechanically, so that might just be why it feels more snowbally in terms of people dieing?
@@tkelly6121 Back at release people have issue figuring how 5 head work, and not consistent on blue to red, barby is more an accurate execution test, like DSR, mechanic itself isn't too hard to identify, but execution had to be consistent and your reaction had to be fast. 15 deaths and we got 2% enrage with my static yesterday going in first time blind(not first pull) entirely depends when the deaths happen. Funny thing about the fight is that it feels more ultimate to heal than dsr's first 5 phases
@@alexjones50 the only reason I would disagree with that is because each major patch usually has 7 ext trials and currently patch 6.0 is at 4. That would leave Cagnazzo, Rubicante, and Golbez. But I could also see them putting him in a dungeon so we'll see.

One thing to note for Hair Raid is that the donut/cone attack launches a moment before the stack/spread snapshot. So when you get spread + cone the ranged/Healers can also run out a bit to give melee more room!
Yeah, there’s a healthy amount of leeway on the spread. Looks far scarier than it is. If you’re not standing on top of each other you have a goodly bit of time to reposition after the cone AoE.
Hmmm We do the Blow Away mechanic in an opposite way... Bait 2 Aoes in the center, after the second puddle drops, move out and bait the second 2 puddles.. then move in to the center again o.O first time i see this clockwise way.. you have many time to move out with the explosion and most casters/healsrs in our groups have uptime for it..
Did I get a cursed instance? I was using holmang on the first Aero III but would always die to the auto after Secret Breeze? The auto was hitting just as the debuff from Aero III was dropping off. Other than something like a cursed instance I couldn't think of why the auto was coming in before the debuff dropped since I see everyone invuln it.
It can go either way, just communicate before hand with the other tank, as (drk) mt I like to voke back after the debuff wears off to keep the same cardinal positioning, but the other way is fine too (wait until next aero 3).
Barbariccia on normal is ridiculously fun, so I can only assume EX is as well, especially when you get it right. Sadly, there's too much background detail and VFX going off for my poor little toaster to handle, so I won't be trying EX until I get a new PC xD
Honestly, I was surprised at the amount of mechanics in Normal mode. It was an incredibly fun fight to be constantly running around dodging as much. I can't imagine it's fun as a caster, but I had a blast.
@@danielhenderson9719 My first clear was on black mage, it's really not that bad. We've had 90 levels of practice after all, and figuring out the sweet spots is half the fun of casters. Extreme looks quite a bit trickier, *especially* that last chasing aoe->spread, but certainly doable. Astrologian will probably have the toughest time unless they forget about Lightspeeding their buff windows and save it for movement phases instead.
