Vlog 66: Pan-American Cyclocross Championships

Nothing like a championship event at home. This is a special one, racing the Pan-Am Champs right at home in Missoula. Plenty of mud, huge crowds, and incredible atmosphere and epic views of the mountains here in Montana!

Just wondering why they chose a difficult location for racers to access on the cheap. I’m sure a plane ticket and bike shipping wasn’t cheap for racers who don’t have a lot of money and spend more than they make. Why Montana for a major cyclocross race? Seems like the opposite of a hotbed for CX racing in the USA.

Literally no one wants to host this event, and we were extremely lucky to have a promoter willing to do it at all. Much more convenient than Costa Rica where they were supposed to be last year, and much nicer than the middle of nowhere Ontario in 2018-19.
Cx exists in places other than the east coast and Midwest, it’s pain for everyone from the PNW and mountain west to travel to what’s “convenient” for other racers.
