Loved it! Great to know helpful details on the cars you mentioned, the bad points & good points. I've been in the trade for over 30yrs, great effort you put in your videos fella.
Have noticed small cars are going for good money, with the cost of living crisis people are trying to save wherever they can, downsizing car being one.
very sad times less and less making small cars, times more and more cars on road = less road space the small car should be top priority for uk market not the daft suv's. just show a huge % of uk now hates driving and suv sales says it all sadly. future cool fun small cars looking very bad. kia/Hyundai the ones still have small cars what still reliable and still supper lightweight and that = fun my i20 2011 its 1.1 ton with tank fuel, the 2015 shape same car but very well equipped around a 100kg more dry weight whats very good for modern standards, other small cars lots do not have best or most reliable engines even tho they pretty cool cars. still shocks me fiat 500 they can not be that old bt require a sub frame, gearbox its insane at that age requiring that and so many brands going wet belt route what i stay way clear off. Hyundai and kia they not trouble free around 100k miles they can require a new chain and kit as tension can go or stretch but knowing that fix it before it goes and you have a good solid engine the 1.2 seems to be more on as seen a lot break down vids that engine so fix it before it goes them they very reliable engines mines been trouble free for 55 months on general 100k mile stuff but burns very clean and sails easy through mot. funny thing ive been so impressed with my i20 the newer i20 at top my list to by on next car and i know engines pretty well now so be easy to run for a very long time
Love watching these auction videos. A good insight not just the auction prices, but which engines are good, bad and ugly. Looking forward to the video regarding the Focus 1.0 ecoboost you purchased the other week.
The Pt cruisers with the 2.2 diesel had a Merc engine.I picked up one last year and although i,m no fan of Elvis, fake revolvers or line dancing i was surprised how well it drived,i actually kept it for a few months before i sold it on.
I really enjoyed my virtual auction visit, I do like these types of video. The denim blue Škoda Roomster looked very nice, I was once given one as a courtesy car by my local Škoda dealership, when my Fabia was being serviced, I liked it very much. Anyway thank you for taking us along for the ride Lee😊.
107's C1 Aygo, they need to be inspected on the subframes, especially any car thats been in a cold salty road area, they really rust out bad. Big risk and big cost if you drop on a bad one, they look great on top, but oh boy watch the subframes.
in times like these its not a bad idea to fix-up some of those forgotten about motors at the back of the pitch that have been sitting there for far too long
That's true but unless you are a car geek. They facelifted them in 2016 so they have squared rear lights with body colour in the middle which is a big giveaway its a 67 or newer plate. Your point still stands they are ageless mainly because fiat is a tight company and hasn't drastically updated the the petrol 500 since its introduction in 2007, they are dirt cheap to build in Poland and make massive profit margins as they currently sell new from £16,700 otr which is ludicrous because new pre reg before the v1rus l0ckdowns they went for less than ten grand for a basic pop spec lucky for those who pcp just before the lockdowns and made a fortune..
Once the recession really kicks in, everyone will hand the new car on pcp back to the dealer and buy these 1k to 3k eco hatchbacks instead. I was made redundant twice in 2010 and then in 2011 ,everyone was put on short time and three day weeks, it got really bad, those times will come back when the stock market collapses just like last time. Your in the perfect market to capitalise on this Lee. 👍
On bbc 1 news this morning they said there’s a backlog of half a million people waiting to take there driving test…. Don’t no the number of people each day passing there test…that could be why the price people are paying for smaller cars is so high!! Love the videos keep it going….
Smashing auction video again , love the price screen board at the auction cause I can't really hear the auctioneer, so to see the price is great .. happy trading mate ..
Most dealers are finding It is slow currently, if you get chance send me a email of your listings and let me take a look, always worth having a 2nd eye over a listing just to see if any pointers can be given (y)
Very interesting videos and an interesting insight into the world of used cars. I can’t believe the mileage some of these small cars have done and the value they still hold .
Being a bit naive on why the Aygo/C1/107 are going up. They are ulez compliant, rubbish economy and people got no money and cant afford to run a big car with big car running costs and fuel costs so end up selling(or they are in debt and bailiffs seized and sold the car...) and downsizing . Plus insurance companies taking the mick putting premiums up 20% this year due to lost profits as the result of high inflation and trying to claw that profit back back(as insurance is taken out 12 months in advance before inflation hit they still had to pay-out for accident repairs at 'inflation' prices) so this years premiums take into account last years loses and they add a bit extra on top to hedge for inflation for the next 12 months so they don't get stung again. In simple terms The Toyota Aygo and its clones are in the cheapest insurance band thus dirt cheap insurance.. also 4 grand for a clean midspec 61 Golf BlueMotion is lockdown talk, at that money retail customers are better off spending a few hundred more for a 13 plate new shape which is a far better car..
sold a c1 a week ago, these are first cars and the poor lass has had to spend £4000 on the insurance, she said it was chepper than all the ubers shes been paying for😮
Totally agree.. 4k for a mk6 golf is literally overpriced.. My mate recently purchased a mk7 golf on a 13 plate, tdi bluemotion.94k miles with fsh including proof of a timing belt change for 3850..
I am suprised how long the prices in the UK stayed so low comparred to the rest of the EU. Since late Covid small cars were always in high demand. Guess the RHD and the demand for UK only has something to do with it.
Skoda Roomster is an interesting buy Lee. Funnily enough I've just had a Fabia with that same engine in it. Done 203k and feeling a bit tired, and probably only one breakdown away from the scrapyard, but boy did it drive well for it's age and mileage. I was quite impressed, and wouldn't hesitate to retail one with a bit less leg. Very underrated car in my view.
I was in Tesco one day and the cashier said she had one due for Mot /NCT in Ireland, she mentioned that there were only 9 in Ireland, rare car, I. Always thought it looked like a hamster hearse...
Maybe it's to do with the price of petrol and being small to drive, maybe they are cutting bus services? In America at the moment the used car sales prices are collapsing and they have a lot of repo cars as well.
People want cheap. Small cars (often) give good fuel economy but most do not look further than the length of their nose. They cannot or want to buy a(n) (expensive) new car so they opt for cheap, and the running costs have to be low. In their mind it makes sense to overpay a car as long as they win 1 pence on the liter per mile.....
I bought a 2015 Alfa Mito Twin air for £1750 plus fees from Wilson's Auctions Portadown on Wednesday last week with only 45000 miles. What a bargain and such fun to drive. Ideal car for my son.
When the need comes to get a second run a round.and i know where that auction site is.....i think i will give it a try as always fancied going to car auction
Brilliant vid as usual . Neighbour has a 53 plate PT cruiser he uses as a tip run / take the dog out vehicle. Says it's extremely reliable and costs peanuts to maintain. Looking forward to part 2.
It is good not to go above your price limit even if it was close call 50 quid 50 and look 100 quid can also go to next fee bracket which all ads up. Great video thanks.
Budget cars are no longer so "budget friendly" in North America either, repair bills are up, well up, repairs take longer, and have less reliable replacement parts while scrap heaps that should go to the junk yard for recycling go for actual money if they can still drive.
I had a PT Cruiser back in the day and I am not a gun loving, Elvis fan, it was a2.2 diesel, a merc engine. Great car never had one bit of trouble wished I’d kept it because as you say I think they will become collectible in the future. Great video.
Hi Lee , that’s dave bloke was at Letchworth other night . I’ve never seen so many buyer hiding behind car and columns, I guess they didn’t want to be on tv ! Lol😅
I laughed at the PT Cruiser. I had a 2 litre Limited many years ago. Very well built, loads of chrome, full leather - smashing. Never key me down although the electrics were cranky - it kept unlocking itself! The kids were small in those days and wont to locking and unlocking the doors for fun so they may well have mucked it up. Anyway - bit of a family legend that one and will always remember it fondly. Think you're right - potential future classic in good shape.
Bca filth still cheap. Under 80k super minis allbeit not Aygo 107 C1. That said 1414 Mk1 five door low mileage 107 was only 1800 other week Midlands bca. On 49k.
Have to agree with your opening statement Lee about not being able to buy sub 3k stock. I went to the auction last week, trying to buy sub 3k retail cars because my 4-5k cars are not selling, all I'm getting asked for is sub 3k, which tends to be older and higher miles than I like to get involved in. Came away empty handed, scruffy scruffy cars going for way over cap clean, cars that I wouldn't even want to pay average price for. Going again Wednesday, see how we get on.
Thought you might have just touched for that White Toyota Auris, as they seem really bullet proof, and because of same might attract a Premium on ,"The Pitch"...you came Close... Great Upload.
I'm just pleased I already have a reasonable car that is cheap to run already.. & by cheap I mean 1.5TDCi (120ps) Focus Zetec Cheap. Plus no Road Tax, 55-80 mpg & ULEZ compliant. It's a very sensible option as is any other ford with this engine in 120 or 140ps map. I believe it's still ULEZ compliant with the 140bhp as well and zero road tax etc. Absolute no brainer really, 'If' (Big IF) you can still find one with acceptable mileage for a sensible price of course.. Mine has increased in value by around £1600 over 2 years.. Only has 52k on a 2015 though.
Two good buys Lee 👏🏻👏🏻 Profit 📈 in both so happy days!!!...At one point I thought you was gonna end up with nothing with mad prices especially on the smaller stuff!!!...Always love the auction videos Lee as you never know what you gonna get...Keep up the great work and looking forward to Part 2...Nice 1 Lee m8...👍🏻
Your right the super minis C1’s, 107’s and Aygos are going for silly money. We bought a 4 door C1 VTR on a 13 plate in 2017 for £4999 and sold it a few weeks ago for £5100! Free motoring! Bonkers. But people want them. Dave Birmingham
I had a a 207 CC brand new years ago nice to drive but the mechanicals are crap , the clutch and gearbox went after only 6 months , luckily got my money back but would never buy a Peugeot again
you should be on commission for running the bids up for the auction. i know how you feel i do it at general auctions. bid on loads but only get a couple of lots. lol. keep great videos coming.
Hope you enjoy this one guys, lots of content landing this week but lets kick it off with this latest auction visit, enjoy part 1 of this video 👍👍👍👍
Loved it! Great to know helpful details on the cars you mentioned, the bad points & good points. I've been in the trade for over 30yrs, great effort you put in your videos fella.
People are feeling the pinch with cost of living crisis thats why 107s C1s and Aygos are in demand.Mates just bought a 14 plate 107 in purple.
Have noticed small cars are going for good money, with the cost of living crisis people are trying to save wherever they can, downsizing car being one.
Strong money there for cars with almost starship miles lol just to add to your comment a few 2010 Yaris around here going for 5K plus !!! madness
I was hoping for a plot twist: Lee buys the PT Cruiser and uses it as his daily. 😮
Maybe next time........
🤣
Small cars are big money because nobody is making new ones anymore and it trickles down the market 😂

Shifting Metal was saying the same about car prices in his You Tube videos. Great channel by the way. Thanks.
Love watching these auction videos. A good insight not just the auction prices, but which engines are good, bad and ugly. Looking forward to the video regarding the Focus 1.0 ecoboost you purchased the other week.
Small car demand - perhaps this is driven by hike in insurance premiums? Lower insurance group (smaller) cars
The Pt cruisers with the 2.2 diesel had a Merc engine.I picked up one last year and although i,m no fan of Elvis, fake revolvers or line dancing i was surprised how well it drived,i actually kept it for a few months before i sold it on.
Excellent motors, even before you start tricking the turbo and make them silly quick

The thing with the 500s is, like the mini if you stick a private plate on it, at a glance you would be hard pressed to tell what year they are
True
That's true but unless you are a car geek. They facelifted them in 2016 so they have squared rear lights with body colour in the middle which is a big giveaway its a 67 or newer plate.

lucky for those who pcp just before the lockdowns and made a fortune..
People are buying them to sell in London because of ULEZ

Great comment you made about small engine cars carrying a heavy car. I would always steer clear of them cars.
On bbc 1 news this morning they said there’s a backlog of half a million people waiting to take there driving test…. Don’t no the number of people each day passing there test…that could be why the price people are paying for smaller cars is so high!! Love the videos keep it going….
Compulsive viewing. You really have nailed the art of these. Time just flies. PS you did well with that pope mobile.
Yes, I am ready for the next pope when he visits 👍😁
Smashing auction video again , love the price screen board at the auction cause I can't really hear the auctioneer, so to see the price is great .. happy trading mate ..
Skoda are great car, seats come out and left with a van, great mpg sold mine with ease... easy £2695..
Same as in Essex Lee....small cars big money!
Lee I aren't getting many inquires on the 3 cars I have for sale, I sell from home, very slow, Mark

Delighted you bought a Roomster. I've had 2. Both diesels. Both brilliant. Yours even had a sunroof. Who couldn't love it!
Very interesting videos and an interesting insight into the world of used cars. I can’t believe the mileage some of these small cars have done and the value they still hold .
Yes when I was growing up a car that had done 100k was end of life, how things have changed
I find the atmosphere at car auctions fantastic,I used to attend lots of yorkshire ones but now don't find time .I didn't buy much L just loved to go.
Great places to visit
Always thought the pt cruiser in a Black colour looked like a hearse.😂

People are starting to realise big cars are a route to bankruptcy unless you're a banker. Tax & insurance on them is becoming unaffordable.
Another great auction video.Your right about the PT cruiser cult.Eagle badges and ZZ Top beards 😂
Thanks 👍 🤣
Nice channel, Big fan of yours Lee
Thanks allen, have watched a few of your videos over the years when I have had issues with my baxi boilers 😁
You drove down in a Maserati, nice!
high insurance and interest rates are pushing people into older lower value cars. Insurance is going bonkers.
I do wonder about the longevity of the 1.o turbo Renault engine in the 7 seat Dacia Jogger - can't see that ending well
Yes can see issues 5 years down the track
@@carukchannel just not feasible is it? Its a decent engine in small cars but what is effectively a Zafira? Come on.....
I am suprised how long the prices in the UK stayed so low comparred to the rest of the EU. Since late Covid small cars were always in high demand.

Great prices those for private buyers. 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽✅✅✅✅✅. Nothing wrong with them.
Two good buys I use to buy cars from Newark car auction best cars I ever owned great video

would of had that PT cruiser off you buddy. Viva Los Vegas and all that.

Renault released two 1.2 tce engines, the early ones are generally reliable, it's the ones after 2012 you should watch out for
Nice One Lee. I can't wait to see whats going on at the Auction. 😅😅 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮

sorry ian, I just picked a person I knew who owned one for reference
I used to see a PT Cruiser often around Yarm - great reg plate. OO 00 000
Roomster should appeal as a spot purchase or to someone not able to afford a Yeti. PT Cruiser - looks great but really naff quality.

I had to pause the clip to stop laughing so much with your "experience and observations" of the kind of clientele that blue Chrysler attracted..😂

Love watching these auction videos Lee, I can compare to my local auction, Great to see you are doing well 👍
Good luck with the purchases, Lee. Hopefully, no hidden issue 🤞

I think people were high on exhaust fumes with some of those prices
Bca filth still cheap. Under 80k super minis allbeit not Aygo 107 C1. That said 1414 Mk1 five door low mileage 107 was only 1800 other week Midlands bca. On 49k.

Well with cars fetching more at auction you need to look at making less retail and bidding more thats the state of the market
Really appreciate the pre-auction car reviews Lee. Roomster and Golf looked good buys. If the golf repair was sound I reckon it would sell no problem.
I rather liked that Roomster
Really enjoy these and you are a natural infront of the camera.
many thanks king donner
Always good to see both ends of the car trade Lee ……doesn’t look to be many people at the live auction
Was quiet that day on the ground, but plenty of bids coming in and online was busy
I thought the Peugeot 3008 looked a great buy, the shiny door mirrors indicate that it was or is the top of the range model.
Thanks for all the helpful tips you mentioned in the auction, really helpful advice & knowledge.
Thought you might have just touched for that White Toyota Auris, as they seem really bullet proof, and because of same might attract a Premium on ,"The Pitch"...you came Close... Great Upload.
Yes was interested in that, although it did have a NI plate fitted which always put me off slightly
Oh gawd Lee , wife looks over my shoulder just as you show the Cruiser.
' That looks nice , I like that , ' she says. No no no no , not happening 😣😁
Glad you put your foot down there roger 🤣
Liked the PT Cruiser. All true about who loves them apart from guns on the wall bit! Ugly yet beautiful at the same time.
Thanks John 😁
Well done keeping the Board in shot during the bidding 😊

Great Lee, enjoyed this one. The PT cruiser is up there with the fiat multipla in my eyes...
Yes that's a scary combo tony 🤣

Thanks neil 👍
Yep ULEZ means all the compliant cars are being snapped up, conversely are the non compliant ones being discarded cheap?
Not that I have noticed, I guess a lot of currently being repatriated up north, for now
Spat me tea out 😂 with the pope comment.. 😂😂😂 it definitely looked like The Pope Mobeal
the roomsters have a cult following...id be adding £1,000 to your retail price for it.
Another great video Lee, the world's gone mad price's are ridiculous
