Atomic Heart is a game that confidently weds progressive themes found in science fiction literature from the likes of Philip K Dick and Isaac Asimov with adrenaline-fuelled set pieces synonymous with action movies from the 80s and 90s. Playing as an overly aggressive special-ops-type soldier called P-3, players are dropped into a visually stunning reimagining of 1955 where the USSR is a scientific powerhouse. Development of a substance that will permit humans mind control over the robots populating the post-war landscape soon twists the sun-bleached forests, snowy mountains and propaganda-laced buildings into a trashed dystopia as the harmonious machines become rampant killers.
