They are both good-looking bikes. We sat on them at our bike show last November. Unsurprising, I preferred the Scramber and Carol liked the Speed 400. They are certainly well priced this side of the water.
I could see the preferences for you two. The prices here are good here too but the shipping, set-up, taxes, and documentation add almost $2000 to the bike's cost. This seems a bit out of line to me.
Two very nice looking bikes, nice comparison of the bikes and great info for anyone interested in purchasing one. Would love a walk around that showroom. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Some bikes can pull off the brown seat and others can't. I had a 1976 Honda 550 F1 with a brown seat and my Royal Enfield 500 seat is brown and can't imagine them any other way.
@@rogerwilliams2629 No I have never smoked anything.. My family members who smoked anything all fell to cancer. I do like the smell of a lot of pipe tobaccos though.

@rogerwilliams2629 Sorry to hear about the new diagnosis. I know you will continue to your time wisely. None of has guarantees on time so I try and do the things I want to do and not put off too many things.
I think the 2 bikes look really good. I like the look of the Scrambler X best. The Triumph/Bajaj collaboration looks to have turned out well. Lets see what the test rides and long term tests turn up over the next year.
I bought a Speed Twin 900 and managed to get a recommended auto-upholstery guy to increase the height of the seat by 1 inch by installing padding and silicone, bringing the ST 900 up to the same height as the T120/T100. Just saying. Enjoyed your look at the 400s. 🇬🇧
I really like the look and feel of these bikes. Light fun and cheap to buy(only 5k here) I have sat on them , the scrambler felt a little OTT for what I would want.....The Speed works for me.. I was very impressed when I saw one....its a very tempting concept I must admit. I really like the seat to peg height measurement...I may have to pinch that if its ok...I dont know why I haven't thought of that before ha!
Steven feel free to use it if it is some value to your viewers. I think older and riders with knee injuries quickly learn the importance of this measurement or limit their riding time. I think we all know how handlebar height and pullback effect our comfort but because the legs/knees don't jump out as quickly as issues especially for younger riders we tend to miss the effects until later on. Quite a few older riders also have problems with their ankles and can't shift some bikes. For one of my buddies we developed a method of measuring the ankle and distance (footpeg & toe part of the shifter) that worked for him then he can check bikes on the showroom so he knows if that bike will work for him.
you question to me about Sherlock Holmes in the last video, has made me buy the Peterson tobacco tin of sherlock holmes and not sure i will do a video on it, but it sounds like i will like it. kinda wish more companies have demos
Nice video showing some of the ethos and differences between the 2 new machines! I got to see and take a seat on a new 400X at the local Triumph dealer last week. It looks terrific. One nice thing it feels like a larger displacement bike that it is. Sometimes small engine bikes feel too small, which makes it feel awkward to me. I’m guessing the Speed 400 would seem about the same as the 400X. I’m hoping to get a test ride on the new models sometime.
Tim I'm looking forward to ride the bikes myself. The Speed 400 felt like a different machine from Scrambler 400 sitting on it....strange because I wasn't expecting that much difference but maybe it was just me that day.
It is sad the Stealerships are not more up front about the pricing. The number of people buying motorcycles continues to dwindle. Chinese bike $3.5k, Indian bike $4.5k, Malaysian bike 5.5k, Japanese bike 8.5k. All are hard to swallow when you get hit with destination fee, prep fees, documentation fees, first service fee. I guess that is why so many people buy used bikes. I will get one of these new Triumph Speed/Scramblers in a year, or two with 2,700 miles on the clock for less than $4k. Buy used my friends.
Although I don't use or agree to the term "Stealerships" at least with the ones I deal with. However, your point by buying used ones is certainly a good one and is a great strategy.
@@flatcapcaferacer That’s because you are trying to build a working relationship with them for your channel, which makes you biased. Everyone knows dealers will rake you over the coals whenever they can.
John not everyone has had exactly the same experience with dealerships. I've certainly had some bad ones and many so so ones. I'll agree that that there aren't many customer oriented ones out there but there are some. Many many years ago I was a sales manager at a Triumph & BMW shop . We went from about the 150th ranked dealership in sales to #14 in my first year. My philosophy was simple, treat the customer the same way you would like to be treated. Fair and open . Maybe that is old fashioned even then and I'll admit my ownership was reluctant to do that and I pissed off most of the other dealerships but the customers loved it .
Unfortunate you didn't get to ride them. Speed 400 is quicker and better lean angle. I'm 5'.5" and gave up on the Scrambler. But I'm OK with a Tiger Sport 850😂 which I ride.

I sure would loved to ride them for a better comparison but I'm just some brush popper. The folks working at this dealership are good folks.
