THE most beautiful operatic aria ever composed, my opinion. And Tine has performed it here to absolute perfection, and obviously poured her heart and soul into it. And she has made it sound just as beautiful on trumpet as any performance I have heard of it over the decades by any operatic soprano (again, in my opinion). I have been listening to and watching this video for over three years, and simply Never tire of it. This Lied goes deep into one's heart, especially on Tine's trumpet, for those who let it in. 💖 I would love to know where and when this concert took place, but there is nothing in the description here, nor have I been able to find it anywhere else. If anyone here knows about this, I would be very grateful to learn it. Greetings from Hawai'i. 😌🌈🌴
Erich Wolfgang Korngold was strongly influenced by his early experience with Gustav Mahler. His story is quite remarkable. This piece is part of an opera (Glück das mir verlieb) and has been performed impeccably by Anne Sophie von Otter. This version is beautiful as well. Thank you for sharing.
This must surely be the most emotionally beautiful interpretation of this piece ever! Even better than her recording of it with the Liverpool Phil. Just look at how emotionally drained Tine is at the end. I feel Erik Korngold would have loved it.
@@losdosabuelos Offcourse he would loved it: it proves something ... that he is a great composer. That he writes beautifull genious melodies. That keep their strenght whatever version it is. And thats a sign of a truly great composer. And its no voice: your only missing the text. Not the feeling and the beauty of the music. Tine is singing on her trumpet. And does it wonderfull.
@@losdosabuelos What a completely narrow-minded reply. You have absolutely No idea whether or not he would have "approved". I believe that he would have loved it, and I would wager that those who would agree with me on this far outnumber your opinion.
Every musician outstanding. Watch the conductor. He is conducting with his whole body including his feet. Creating an atmosphere where all that talent can perform. What a wonderful leader.
Trumpet was my major instrument when I studied music in college. Instructors would have us practice long tones to focus on tone quality and to build endurance and control. In some ways, this type of playing is harder than faster moving music. This piece requires incredible control and endurance, which Tine has mastered. She makes it seem easy, but even for her it requires real work, and great relief when the work is relaxed and completed, as shown around 4:47. This is a testament to what can be accomplished by hard work, time, and effort, along with natural talent. Thank you, Tine, for sharing all of this with us.
Tina, I don't know if you read these comments, especially after so much time has passed, but this performance was magnificent. The setting was so intimate and you, yourself, dressed in that white, lace gown--you were stunning--a mature woman with no need to show off anything. Obviously, the performance was better than your recording on the Storyteller Album, which I play often. Your sound is is as celestial as any out there. As a long time ago trumpet player myself (never coming as close as good as you), you are my favorite among the current trumpet super stars. I hope you come to St. Louis, USA soon; I would love to see and hear you in person.
Merci.
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Tine plays it beautifully. Nicola Benedetti does too, Kiri sings it, Renee Fleming. Listen carefully, feel the emotion.
I never get tired of watching and listening to this, Her face at 4.43 is sheer joy After another visit to her wondefful country, I listened again. Sheer heaven
First time I've ever heard this. Beautiful. Americans may remember Korngold was most famous for his film scores in the 1930's and 1940's. His scores to the "swashbuckling movies" of that era were 2nd to none. Kudos to the person who dug this tune up and envisioned it as a trumpet solo. Tine plays it in the same key, on a C trumpet, as opera singers sing it in.
It wasn't "dug up", by a long shot. "Marietta's Lied" has been one of the most beloved and often performed of all opera arias, almost always by operatic sopranos (names you would likely recognize, going back to the 1950s) as a solo, for many decades, although it has been played as an instrumental solo previously, as well.
😊 ( The beauty of wind instruments is that you can directly feel their breath. It is second only to the vocal voice in conveying emotion. 😊 )
As an opera singer, I have always focused on the likes of Renée Fleming singing this.... but, I have to say, that was beautiful, thank you. Poised and heartfelt, on a difficult instrument that you control so well. I'll be listening out for more from you :)
This is just beautiful--I would love to hear Tina and Alison perform together; I think they individually bring such wonderful and beautiful voices through their horns, the final resulting product would be just gorgeous and unmatched.
Martin
Extraordinary musicality and control especially on those long slow lines of melody which would frighten the life out of merely competent trumpeters. Supreme virtuosity no less.
The music fits so well with the (I assumme) Norwegian background, windy, in the evening, at the end of a nice summer's day, I imagine myself being there......
its like an entire action movie soundtrack.....condensed into one incredible bit of ear candy where your mind is blown away....plus having dear Tine Thing at the front.
Apples and oranges den. Her tone quality is much more beautiful than Wyntons perfect warm tone. You can hear the beauty of being a woman in her sound. As a trumpet player professionally I would disagree, they are both masters in their own right.
Tine Thing (Tiny Thing) allways cheers me up at the end of a long day. intense concentration and control ,producing beautiful music. Puts it into perspective. Shes so inspirational.
This is the most beautiful melody in all of opera. It is something that you hear once or twice, then 10 years later you wake up in your morning fog, and hear the introduction swimming around in your head, wondering: "Where did I hear that?" I will forever connect it with Jonas Kaufmann, who can be seen here at the celesta. : ruclips.net/video/UjwgNK4KKFg/видео.html (Seine Partnerin ist Julia Kleiter. )
Gorgeous. Heartbreakingly perfect performance. My favorite aria of them all, on my instrument. I am from the USA, state of Michigan, and would love to secure this sheet music for my own use.
